RVHS Parent Bulletin Aspiration

Respect Endeavour

Week ending: Friday 8th June 2018 “Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”

Message from the Head of School Welcome back to the final half term of the academic year. This week the public exams for GCSE, AS and A Level are now in full swing and the Year 9s have started their GCSE Option subjects. Earlier in the week, you will have received a letter from Mr. Tony Barritt (Chair of Governors), informing you that Roding Valley High School is now part of The Chelmsford Learning Partnership, this message can also be found below. This is an exciting time for the school and will benefit the students and staff as we further develop the links between the schools that make up the partnership. This week we had a Year 5 Sports and Creative Arts morning - more information is on page 3. As well as this, Miss Wybrant and Mrs Patel took "Science on the Road" and visited Thomas Willingale School. Next week, we are going to be piloting an earlier start for lunch with Year 7. This will give them a longer lunch time and enhance the opportunity for extracurricular clubs during lunch time. Part of this will mean that the Year 7s will be taken down to the new 3G pitch on the field and have the opportunity to play a variety of sports and other enrichment activities. The Choir will continue on Wednesday lunchtimes under the guidance of our new music teacher Miss Self. The Sixth Form charity draw winner for the signed West Ham shirt was Penny Spence 10X and this raised £273 for Cancer research, Brain tumor charity and GOSH. Their next event is the final performance of Roding’s Got Talent on Thursday 28th June 2018 to continue raising money for these charities. Full details will be out soon. On Monday 11th June, Year 12 students return from their study leave to continue their A Level studies, this will include sitting exams for the subjects that they didn't sit external AS exams for. Please refer to the timetable that was previously sent out. Year 10 will have their end of year exams during the week commencing 18th June, the overview timetable for this can be found on page 10. Please note a date change for Sports Day; this will now be Wednesday 18th July.
