RVHS Parent Bulletin Aspiration Respect Endeavour Week ending: Friday 20th April 2018 “Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”
Message from the Head of School I trust that everyone had an enjoyable Easter break. It has been a pleasure to be back in school this week; the students have come back very focused and the sun has been shining. Thank you for your support with our dress code as our students are all looking incredibly smart in their uniforms. At RVHS, when it is very hot, we do relax our rules regarding the wearing of school blazers around the school site but they are still expected to have them with them and not wear alternatives. Students are also permitted to drink water in lessons, so please can you ensure that they have water with them. I would like to thank the teaching staff who came in over the Easter holidays and offered study and support session to our GCSE and A level students. These were really well attended and the students have said that they were of real value to them at this stage. Please note that study leave will start on the following dates for these students, full details will follow:
Year 12 AS: Friday 11th May
Year 11 GCSE: Friday 18th May
Year 13 A2: Friday 25th May
I have really enjoyed being in all the assemblies this week; the new Head Boy and Head Girl, Harry BoydWalker and Grace Cain have been introducing themselves alongside their Student Executive Committee to our student body. They have talked about their roles and their ideas to lead the school forward, I am very proud of them. It is quite daunting talking to an audience which consists of 200 plus of their peers. It was also a delight to be in the Year 9 assembly and listen to our Speak out Challenge Finalists, it was totally inspirational. Congratulations to Livvy Turnball, Florence New, Daniel Grogan, Ella Margetts, Oliver Wells and Lewis Scarfe. Our School has celebrated sporting success this week with our Year 7 Football team winning the Harlow and West Essex Cup, with a score of 0-1 against St Marks. It was only a winning penalty from Ryan Dadson being the difference between the two teams. What a fantastic way to start their RVHS careers, being crowned West Essex & Harlow district football champions. And a personal thank you to Mr. Ali for all his efforts with the team this year and long may it continue.
