RVHS Parent Bulletin Aspiration Respect Endeavour Week ending: Friday 19th January 2018 “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people that prepare for it today. Malcolm X
Message from the Head of School. It has been an exciting time with lots of events taking place for our students. This term we are offering an increased range of extra-curricular activities, please encourage your child to participate. The theme of student assemblies has been our ACED teaching and learning principles and expectations. It has provided me with the opportunity to share with the students the new and exciting way we are training our staff to deliver the lessons in the classroom. We also explored how they can facilitate their own learning. ACED is an acronym for Assessment, Creativity, Engagement and Differentiation, the key ingredients for successful learning. If you want to know more, please attend the Parent Forum on Monday 29th January at 6pm, everyone is welcome. We will also promote essential study skills and ways to support your child. On Tuesday some of our Year 11 Students visited Oxford University; this provides them with a taste of university life and allowed them access to one of the highest performing universities in the country. We take the students on many university trips, to inspire them to want to attend university and to appreciate the level of qualifications needed. As part of our careers programme we also provide students with information and access to the many Higher Level Apprenticeships now being offered. Please do not forget that it is the Careers Fest next Thursday evening at Epping Forest College from 3pm to 6:30pm. This is part of our careers programme to ensure students are given an extensive range of post 16 information, which includes; Sixth Form Colleges, Apprenticeships, Further Education Colleges and Universities. I look forward to seeing many of our students there.
On Wednesday, our Year 12 students participated in the Safer Essex Roadster Event. The students were provided with really important information and advice on becoming responsible drivers and ensuring that they remain legal and safe on the roads. Please can I remind you that the deadline for our Sixth Form Applications has been extended to Tuesday 23 January and all students that are intending to apply should email their application to nsellears@rodingvalley.net rd
