Week ending: Friday 16 November 2018 “Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”

Message from the Head of School This week we were delighted to welcome so many potential students to our Sixth Form Open Evening. Our Sixth Form continues to go from strength to strength, enjoying significantly improved A level results in 2018 which compare positively with other local providers. Our progress rates are also significantly improved and are in line with national expectations. It was an incredibly positive evening with so many of our Year 11 students keen to explore the options at A level and hear about the exciting opportunities available to them post 18. I am delighted that Miss Wheaton, our recently appointed Director of Sixth Form is having a very positive impact on our Sixth Form, offering enhanced rigour, support and opportunities for our students. There were a significant number of external students in attendance, further evidence of our growing reputation and the competition for places. Our Year 11 are continuing to impress, having stepped up to the challenge of their PPEs (pre public exams); their attitude and effort have been exemplary.

As a school, we believe in the education of the whole child and encourage them to hold our core beliefs of aspiration, respect and endeavour. This week our Year 9 students experienced a day away from normal lessons, hosted by an organisation called ‘Prison Me! No Way!’ This is a national educational charity with the core aim of raising awareness among young people about the causes, consequences and penalties of crime; a part of our revised Character and Culture program
