Week ending: Friday 13 October 2017 “The beautiful thing about Learning is that no one can take it away from you”. BB King
Message from the Head of School. It has been a great week here at Roding Valley High School. It was a real pleasure on Tuesday evening for the school to host the Sports Award evening. It was brilliant to celebrate and recognise all those students who have represented the school at sport or have demonstrated exceptional performance in both lessons and extra-curricular activities. Please see article later in the bulletin. I am also delighted to announce that this week saw the first publication of the school magazine ‘RVHS Exposed’. This magazine has been written and edited by the students themselves. The editor is Leia Humphries in Year 12 but her team is made up of students from across the year groups. If your son/ daughter would like to get involved then please ask them to contact Miss Bingham (English/Challenge and Enrichment) who is coordinating the magazine. kbingham@rodingvalley.net I have attached a copy with the bulletin, it is a fabulous piece of work by our students, please do take the time to have a read. Can parents of Year 11 students note that their exam week is the first week back after half term, week beginning 30th October. This is a really important milestone in this academic year and their results will help to direct their future revision and interventions towards their final exams. Your son/ daughter should now be revising for these exams using materials supplied by their subject teachers. If you have any concerns then please contact, Mr Quirk (Year Progress Leader Y11) or Mr. Mammen (Deputy Headteacher – Progress) Please find attached a booklet on ‘How to make the most of your learning’. These are also the final assessments prior to their applications for 6th Form and will provide the school with an indication of grades to enter post 16 study. Please do note that our 6th Form entry requirements can be found on the school website in the prospectus. If you still need your son/ daughter’s pin number for ‘Show my Homework‘; then please contact jhodges@rodingvalley.net.
