Del 19 al 23 de setembre de 2016, un grup d’estudiants de Batxillerat Artístic de l’Institut Alexandre Deulofeu de Figueres van participar en el taller Geotagging the city, dirigit per Kenneth Russo en el marc d’Ingràvid, festival de cultura contemporània de l’Empordà. El següent document visual pretén mostrar algunes fases del desenvolupament i producció d’aquest laboratori de co-creació. L’eix conductor de les activitats prenen el dispositius mòbils com a eina, el territori com a suport, i el núvol com a contenidor d’experiències.

From 19th to 23rd September 2016, a group of students - from Art High School Institute Alexandre Deulofeu in Figueres- performed in the workshop: Geotagging the city, directed by the artist Kenneth Russo during Ingràvid, festival de cultura contemporània de l’Empordà (Weightless). The following visual document aims to show some phases of development and production of this co-creation lab.

The focal point of the activities take mobile devices as a tool, the territory as a canvas, and the cloud as a container of experiences.

Geotagging* is the process of adding geographical identification metadata to various media such as a geotagged photograph or video, websites, SMS messages, QR Codes or RSS feeds and is a form of geospatial metadata. This data usually consists of latitude and longitude coordinates, though they can also include altitude, bearing, distance, accuracy data, and place names, and perhaps a time stamp.

Locative media* or location-based media (LBM) are media of communication functionally bound to a location. The physical implementation of locative media, however, is not bound to the same location to which the content refers. Location-based media delivers multimedia and other content directly to the user of a mobile device dependent upon their location. Location information determined by means such as mobile phone tracking and other emerging real-time locating system technologies like Wi-Fi or RFID can be used to customize media content presented on the device. Locative media are digital media applied to real places and thus triggering real social interactions. While mobile technologies such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), laptop computers and mobile phones enable locative media, they are not the goal for the development of projects in this field.

The dérives goals include studying the terrain of the city (psychogeography) and emotional disorientation, both of which lead to the potential creation of Situations.

Aquest projecte consisteix en la recreació ficcional d’imatges geoubicades en llocs emblemàtics de la nostra ciutat: la plaça de l’Ajuntament, el Museu Dalí, la plaça de la Font Lluminosa, la plaça Catalunya o la Rambla.

Canviant algun element d’aquests entorns es vol fer una crítica al model de pensament capitalista que impera en cada racó d’allò quotidià.

L’Últim Sopar és una obra del pintor Juan de Juanes, el·laborada al voltant de 1562, emprant la tècnica de pintura a l’oli. En l’obra es representa l’acte de l’últim sopar de la tradició cristiana, una de les escenes més reproduides en l’iconografia cristiana.

Hem creat una reinterpretació contemporània de l’obra en format fotogràfic anomenada “L’Últim Fast-Food”, però amb una actitut i una finalitat totalment diferents a l’original. El nostre equip ha volgut retratar de manera crítica el consumisme radical i la nomofòbia (extrema dependència dels nostres dispositus mòbils) tan presents a la nostra societat.

Si a la pintura original Jesús i els seus apòstols interactuaven entre ells de diverses maneres, destacant-ne el pintor la gran admiració dels dotze deixebles envers el seu guia, nosaltres hem optat per capgirar brutalment la idea del quadre. Cada un dels protagonistes està absort pel seu telèfon o tauleta virtual i ignora la presència dels seus companys.

Així doncs, hem pretès mostrar per una banda l’individualisme modern i l’aïllament creixent entre persones amb una relació prèvia, i, per altra banda hem volgut expressar un cert barroquisme desagradable mitjançant la publicitat i la representació el capitalisme en el seu “esplendor”.

The Last Supper is a piece from the painter Juan de Juanes, painted around 1562, employing oil panting. The picture shows the act of the last dinner of the Christian tradition, one of the most recurrent imatges of the Christianity.

We have created a contemporary performance of the picture called “The Last Fast-Food”, but with a different purpose to the original painting. Our team has wanted to portray critically the radical consumerism and nomophobia (overdependence of our phones), so presents in our society.

If in the original painting we can see Jesus and his apostles interacting mutually, highlighting the painter the great admitration of the twelve disciples toward his guide, we have turned brutally the original idea of the picture. All the characters are absorbed by their phones or tablets and they ignore the presence of their peers.

Thus, we have tried to display on the one hand modern individualism and the increasing isolation among people and, on the other hand, we expressed a extenuating baroquism through the publicity and representation of Capitalism in its “splendor”.
