Thank you for joining us for this special presentation of “The Shot”. As part of FSC’s recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, “The Shot” gives a unique opportunity to explore how prevalent domestic abuse is and to dispel victim stereotypes. Katharine Graham was America’s first female Fortune 500 CEO. As publisher of the Washington Post, she guided the newspaper to national prominence, most notably when it published The Pentagon Papers and reported on the Watergate scandal. Many of us would never imagine someone as formidable as an abuse victim. And yet, even with the wealth and education she enjoyed, Katharine still found herself stuck in a cyclical pattern of domestic abuse which only ended when her husband Phil took his own life while she napped. A special thank you to Laurie Bernhard and Spark Theatrical for allowing us to show this important piece. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the generosity and support of our sponsors, especially our Presenting Sponsors The JK Lowder Family Foundation, Barrie and Laura Harmon, and Uniti Fiber. Our sponsors not only provide the vital funding we need for this event and our services; they are also outspoken advocates for our mission. We would be unable to continue providing services at this level without their generosity and support. Thank you for joining us this evening. Your kindness, generosity, and compassion towards those in need is a gift that can never fully be repaid.
