GHOST PAINTING: (CRACKED CATEGORY) 2016 Philippine election posters Kristoffer ArdeĂąa The cracked category of the Ghost Painting concept refers to the process in which several layers of paint are applied to the surface and allowed to crack, much like the walls on the streets of the tropics wherein humidity acts as a catalyst of this transformation irregardless of the visual rhetoric.

This series of paintings makes use of 2016 Philippine national elections posters that were taken from the streets. paint is added on the surface and decorated with decorative geometric forms that serve as a ornamental elements that allow the viewer to peak through, but fail to fully grasp the original underlying images of the political posters.

GHOST PAINTING: (CRACKED CATEGORY) Night & Day Series Kristoffer ArdeĂąa Painted on fabric called katrina or creaton, these paintings visually explore Philippine architectural elements in visual rhetoric.

Transfiguration: Matchboxes as Mobile Homes for Fighting Spiders Sculpture Series of 100 2014 These sculptures were designed and made by a vendor who specializes in making matchbox homes for fighting spiders in the island of Negros in the Philippines. The matchboxes serve as functional homes and not merely a contemplative objects.

Sugarland Video-performance 28 minutes 2013 A Philippine topographical map made of sugar slowly disappears as ants carry each grain back to their ant hill.

Found Geometry: Carving a Square on a Young Coconut Sculpture 20x16x23 cms.

2014 This sculpture consists of a young coconut with a square hole carved into it. The vendor at the fruit market in Dumaguete places a drinking straw inside the coconut and sells it as beverage. Once you finish drinking you give the coconut back to the vendor and he cuts it in half for you to eat the tender white meat inside.

Homage: Mexico DF Solo project Museo Carrillo Gil Mexico City, Mexico 2011 Homage 2010-in progress Musicians from different genre in Spain and in Mexico are shown the lyrics of the Philippine national anthem without telling them what it is.

They are asked to compose a new song based on what they've read. They don't make a cover version, nor a karaoke version not even a remix of it.

The objective is the process of how an original anthem gets erased through this interactive process and becomes a new song free from its cultural and political origin.

Translating Soy Sauce: Nuevas Recetas IbĂŠricas Solo project for Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo 2008 Homemakers win Mostoles, Spain, were each given a bottle of soy sauce then asked to invent new Spanish recipes from it, not copying Asian dishes. A recipe book containing all these recipes was published.

The book also contained pages where reader could add new soy sauce recipes.
