My name is Kristian Tolovksi, I am currently a second year at the University Of Waterloo, School of Architecture. I believe architecure to be the key to creating waves in our world, through designs that bring people together and wonder to our societies. I see architecture as the gateway to bridging cultures and communities all around the world. Undertanding the tools, materials you work with and the clients and locations you design for lead to meaningful designs. I believe in collaboration and communincation as keys to success in the architectural world. This portfolio is a culmination of my first year in architecture school. Kristian joined Hatch Architecture Ltd. as a co-op student from January 9th, 2023, to April 28th, 2023. During Kristian's time at Hatch, he demonstrated a strong understanding of architectural design principles and showed a keen interest in the field. His work proved this, including but not limited to preparing client presentation material, 3D modeling in Revit, and developing detailed design drawings. He worked successfully with all team members, including other co-op students, technologists, designers, Interior Designers, and Architects of all levels.
Kristian was always eager to learn and take on new ch allenges, and his drive made him an integral team member for the projects and deliverables he was tasked with during his co-op term with us. He consistently performed and went above and beyond what was expected while taking great pride in the work.
In addition to his technical skills, Kristian was s imply a pleasure to work with. He was always professional and courteous, asked the right questions, and was respectfu l toward all team members. His positive attitude and excellent communication skills made him a valuable member of our team, as he would any future team.

Project Description:
Buried in the heart of the Dickson parking lot resides the CORE. A multi-purpose residential building here to open the door to bridging communities and the public together, introducing residents to a plethora of spaces to explore and socialize in. Composed of a senior drop in centre, language learning centre and garden centre by the people of cambridge, for the people of cambridge. A nice way to get outside and experience a beautiful cityscape while socialising with friends. Develop new connections and experiences inside the CORE.

Crow’s Nest
2022 / Term 1B / Building Construction
Project Description:
Off the coast of downtown Toronto sits the Tommy Thompson Park, a nature preserve grown from a man-made peninsula containing the rubble of old Toronto. Crow’s Nest resides along the main trail of the park, bridging the natural environment with the adjacent urban landscape of Toronto. Near a number of Marinas, the area sees a lots of leisure boats, in response the bridge raises itself to allow boats through while mimicing the form of a sailboat. The centre of the bridge going on to take the form, and function, of a crow’s nest. This central lookout, complimented by the bridges open design, allows for a 360 degrees views.

Plants and Pebbles
2022 / Term 1B / Environmental Building Design
Project Description:
The Plants and Pebbles home offers an environment filled with light and open space to the accompanying botanist and geologist. Being surrounded by the greenhouse and exterior landscaping reduces stress and improves their attention whilst completing work. The home also features a pond that conveys an audible connection to nature and offers serenity to the occupants. The calm and peaceful spaces, as well as their connection with nature, affect mental restoration and improve mental and physcial well being. Living in a home with nature all around evokes the feeling of being submerged in a private oasis.
