What is the amber rose SlutWalk?

BRIEF The Amber Rose SlutWalk is a day festival filled with all types of cool activities, vendors, speakers, panelist, performances, live DJs, sign making, educational booths, photo fun, free breast cancer exams, HIV testing and much more.

Our mission is serious but this day of dressing up, strutting your stuff and standing up for gender equality is filled with fun, laughter and a community in support of a tremendous cause. It is about self-expression, unity, shedding stereotypes and supporting one another.

Core mission – why are we here?

We are standing up for women empowerment and fighting against other social injustice issues.

Impact: And while we make this statement it’s most important to remember why we do this and who we do this for!

• I have formed an alliance with several organizations… one of which is “Respect My Vote + The Hip Hop Caucus”. It is SO important that every one exercises their right to register to vote and to actually vote. My website has a place to register and I urge you to register as soon as possible.

• Another one is LA Family Therapy! It is so hard to grasp how many people are in a fucked up situation and need some sort of help.

HARD FACTS • One is four college women has survived rape or attempted rape in their lifetime.

• Rape can affect anyone – no matter their race, ethnicity, sex, gender, social class, or sexual orientation. Rape is NEVER the survivor’s fault. The only person to blame for rape is the rapist!

• Women around the world ages 15-44 are more at risk from rape and domestic violence than from cancer, car accidents, war and malaria. (U.N.) Why set up the Amber Rose Foundation?

Established in 2015 The Amber Rose Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to promote discussion about women’s rights and equality issues. We have partnered with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Worthy Women, Respect My Vote+Hip Hop Caucus, Take Back the Night, and the LA Family Therapy. Donations made to the Foundation are used to bring the Amber Rose SlutWalk Festival to life, with on-site services such as HIV testing, breast cancer screening, voter registration, sexual awareness booths, food vendors, merchandise vendors and a host of other services. But most importantly, donations support the Foundation, and the groups and organizations of people who have been subject to slut shaming, judgement and stigma, victim blaming and sexual assault.

SLUTWALK 2015 Last year, the inaugural Amber Rose SlutWalk Festival was supported by a long list of influential celebrities from Nicki Minaj, Ne-Yo, Matt McGorry to Nick Cannon and Perez Hilton. The movement became a top news story internationally, garnered over 60 million impressions and over 15,000 pre-registrants.

With its success we are now an annual festival in Pershing Square. Together we say loud and clear, this abuse can no longer be tolerated.

SLUTWALK 2016 Visitors to SlutWalk can expect double the social impact. We have expanded the festival to include impactful sign making, special guest speakers, free breast cancer screening, a share your story and a no judgment zone booth, voter registration, HIV testing, food trucks, a fashion show and education opportunities. The success of last years’ grassroots art competition has led to the installation of a full art gallery after receiving more than 600 submissions from all over the country. Pershing Square will be transformed into a world platform for a mission that needs a large stage.

A: My followers are the ones that have been counted out. My followers are the ones that have been labeled rebels, outcasts, misguided, lost, and have been falsely mislabeled as sluts, bitches, and tramps. And at the end of the day, these females are no different from every single human being. I am their person and I am an advocate for that. That is why I am the proud face for neo-feminism.
