The devil is in the details. Don’t be a detail. Understand the process and the impact of your actions or inactions. Show your clients and colleagues that you care about them. Our motto should be: An answer for every inquiry within 24 hours”. And it’s not important who sends the inquiry.

There should be no unanswered emails in our mailboxes. Saying you don’t know the answer is also a good answer, because its shows the matter is being dealt with.

The past year has been instructive and many positive things occurred.

We opened new markets. The introduction of the successful EasyPRO continued. New and interesting wolf cubs joined us. Jane, the Wolf Group’s head accountant, received the exceptional honour of being named Estonia’s Accountant of the Year. Her field is also filled with devilish details – we take its smooth operation for granted, but would immediately notice if it was not functioning. Congratulations, Jane!

Your achievement definitely sets an example for many others!

A Successful, Experiencefilled Year

THE YEAR had barely begun when we were already standing at a new door. Now we are looking back again – at what has happened with our plans, how far have we come, and what we can look forward to.

Personally, this year I was repeatedly reminded of the fact that sales are always the most important. Sometimes, one’s focus can become dissipated in the course of the everyday hustle and bustle, and it may seem that something else is more essential.

One must constantly remind oneself that the Sales department is not the only one dealing with the sales, and to think about our own ability to contribute to them. The devil is in the details. We can make big plans and create visions, but if we cannot execute the details, it is all for nothing.

Recently, it turned out one of our resellers had waited three weeks for a price quote. When investigating the matter, it appeared that there was a weak link in the chain of communication. We must learn from our experiences and prevent such situations.

What a waste – the company had worked hard to persuade a client and this hardly won customer could not obtain a simple price quote. Or sometimes, an offer is made but the important follow-up call is not placed – this can quickly end possible cooperation.

The path to a client or cooperation partner is laid over details. None of us has the right to sit idly by while a client somewhere is waiting for a price quote.

JANE UDUSALU IS ACCOUNTANT OF THE YEAR 2016 THE ACCOUNTANT OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNER HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE TIME AT THE “ESTONIAN ACCOUNTANTS CONFERENCE: A GUIDE TO 2017”.

By honouring an accountant of the year, the organisers wish to value the bookkeeping profession and to focus attention on those accountants, who have provided noteworthy contribution to the development and success of an entire field of activity or their companies.

The 2016 winner of the awards is Jane Udusalu who has been with Wolf Group since August 2005. Jane has been the Chief Accountant of Krimelte OÜ starting from 2008.

Jane admitted that she was feeling both joy and anxiety when she stepped on the stage among other nominees. “The first initiative to participate in the competition had come from the Managing Director, and the CFO immediately agreed. The feedback was extremely positive from the whole team,” she recalls.

Jane stresses the importance of hobbies and entertainment to be a successful professional.

She practises Kundalini yoga herself and regularly takes spa breaks with her family.

An outstanding trend in 2016 is the Russian market’s demand for cheaper products. In result, a noteworthy shift from higher quality and higher price products to lower priced segments has occurred in the Wolf Group sales in Russia. Customers are more interested in buying local manufacturers’ products rather than imports. The sales of the Zhukovsky plant have increased while exports from Estonia have decreased. The Estonian and Lithuanian, as well as the Romanian markets have grown.

The Marketing manager of Olivé shares how, after joining Wolf Group, she started to value the collective work of the company’s international team.

MARÍA, who has an education in advertising and public relations, says that the Marketing team initially was comprised of only her. She collaborated closely with the marketing team in Estonia, but when the workload increased and new projects were added, one graphic designer was added to her team as an outside partner.

The marketing manager has previously been dealing with corporate communications and lived in Dublin, working as a freelance designer, and in Edinburgh.

Today, being part of Wolf Group, she greatly enjoys that fact that the company encourages the creative freedom to propose new ideas and concepts. “I also appreciate the enriching international 4

team and its cohesiveness,” she said.

The cultural differences provide her with the opportunity to get a inside view of other markets, which she wouldn’t otherwise get.

Speaking about her role and goals, she says that she hopes to boost Olivé’s marketing activities, which so far have not been very intense, and to reposition the brand. “I want to use new communication channels, from online-offline campaigns to sponsorships, as well as turn my attention to internal communications,” she explained about her plans.

While being at Wolf Group, María has started to highly esteem the teamwork.

María was teaching some lindy hop to local girls and they were teaching Maria some traditional dancing.

you do not rely only on yourself, many people contribute to the activity chain, she says. And she adds, “My ability to work simultaneously on several urgent projects in a dynamic environment has improved during my time at Wolf Group.”

Since life is not comprised only of work, María also talks about her creative hobbies – she loves to travel and photograph. She also paints, plays the guitar, practices swing dancing and acroyoga.

In conclusion, this busy young woman says that she considers the greatest lesson of her career to be the fact that each individual’s contribution is important, and makes it possible for new goals to be achieved and the company’s results to be improved.

Gary’s top goals are the implementation of structured stage-gate project management and safety, safety, safety.

To put it simply, stage-gate is a project management model in which a project is divided into stages and each stage is approved by the various area managers when completed. Most of the world’s largest manufacturers are using this model today. Gary dreams of a fully digital paper-free working environment, which he assures is already achievable today: “All it requires is well-established document management. All digital solutions we need for this are already available. As an example, I simply took pictures of my paper bills and expense receipts and used an app to send these to accounting. I was able to throw all the papers away.”

When comparing the work culture in Estonia and the Netherlands, Gary points out some of the differences. In the Netherlands, great attention is paid to the efficiency of work. Even a ten-minute discussion with a colleague should be planned ahead. People are very punctual. They eat just a few small sandwiches for lunch, and this is enough, as a large meal would make you lazy in the afternoon. There is a great difference in cleanness, order and safety. People are constantly reminded about safety rules and traffic regulations at work to make sure that everyone arrives to work safely.

In his leisure time, Gary tries to participate in the development of the Estonian education system. His daughter is attending the Kadriorg’s German Secondary School in the first year and Gary has dedicated himself to school affairs by representing the parents on the school’s board of guardians and promoting a support association for the school.

Gary also values exercise; he rides his bicycle to work whenever possible and strongly advises his colleagues to do the same.

The Challenges of Product Development What would happen if one and the same construction foam satisfied all the builders? Well, our life would be simpler but much less interesting.

Every country has its own practices THE PERSISTENT DESIRE to create better and more precise solutions is what makes the product development so interesting, Veigo Kallaste, the Head of the Product Management department confirms this while sharing some of the daily challenges he faces.

From the heat into the cold

One and the same product may not fulfil the similar expectations in the Nordic countries the way it does in the Mediterranean ones. “Cold climate places much greater demand on the materials. Even a small amount of moisture in the material may become a great problem when it freezes. In various climates, the water vapour moves in different directions in the building’s peripheral structure. In warmer climates, the greater intensity of the sun must also be taken into consideration,” Veigo Kallaste explains.

Often the solution is to create different products for diverse regions. Information from target markets can be collected and the disparities identified by our team. For instance, Veigo helped the Olivé product manager Jesus Arias, who belongs to the Product Management team, to adapt a window installation system to suit warmer climates.

The importance of sealing increases

Energy efficiency is a keyword in construction. At first glance, one may ask if Wolf Group should take part in such discussion as we do not produce thermal insulation. Actually, Wolf Group is very much involved. “Today, our main business – sealing – is the key to energy efficiency. Try to imagine the exterior of a building that is made of a material providing efficient insulation, but the wind whistles behind and between it.” Veigo Kallaste explains.

Once the main energy efficiency solutions for buildings have reached the limits of cost-effectiveness, the proper insulation of the various joints starts to play a major role. For instance, in this regard, the window installation has become extremely important, and we offer an entire system of products for this type of projects.

On the other hand, the construction quality expectations in different markets vary, and also change with time. Although a product may have satisfied clients’ needs for ten years, a change in the trend may soon occur. Be it a demand for better product features or pricewise more competitive products – and Product Development must react.

Even so-called “good construction practices” may differ in various countries, based on traditions, building standards or the climate. In the Nordic countries, it is prohibited to install roof tiles using PU foam adhesive, but in the Mediterranean region this is a totally suitable solution, and a good practice. In Brazil, interior doors are installed with foam, without using any other fasteners. This is not allowed in the Nordic countries.

However, Veigo Kallaste stresses that everything changes. “Windows were sealed with moss in the not very distant past,” he chuckles. Only a few years ago, polyurethane foam products could not be used to construct masonry walls or install insulation tiles on a building’s façade. Now, building standards and product compliance requirements have been established for installing foam façade insulation.

All these nuances impact on the development work, the time schedules, the use of raw materials, the final product’s features and price. “We must move along with the times, by constantly monitoring, developing and testing. In this we are assisted by our sales representatives and partners, on whose help we will continue to rely to keep ourselves abreast of the target markets’ characteristics and expectations,” says Veigo Kallaste.

Such an oasis on the stand of Olivé Química welcomed visitors to the VETECO 2016 fair in Madrid.

VETECO is Spain’s most important fair for glass façades, as well as aluminium doors and windows production and installation sector, and it attracts thousands of visitors. That is why Wolf Group decided that this was the ideal place to let its old and new customers to know about the revitalisation of Olivé’s long-established brand that has always been known for its quality products and distinct name.

According to the Olivé Green Building concept, as expressed by the branding agency SUMMA, the product range offers great sealing solutions for any construction projects, as sealing has become

Two goals at the fair

How could we communicate to customers at this gigantic construction fair the main message that Olivé sealants successfully help preserve the environment?

This was possible thanks to the interior of the fair stand and the carefully selected gifts for the customers. Customers received handmade paper bags containing among other things a biodegradable pen, a company notebook of recycled paper, a cell phone charger made from environmentally-friendly material, and a bottle of wine made from local fruits. All these items emphasised one idea: a sustainable, future-oriented lifestyle and working environment.

The second purpose was to present the new product cartridges and the new Olivé Systems product tree to the existent and potential customers. “We presented our first system “i3+1”. It is intelligent, meant for sealing and insulation, heat and sound proofing, reduces cold bridges and offers consumers savings,” María López describes.

The information leaflet especially designed for the fair informed customers of the image change, explained the devel-

opment of the brand and presented in detail the new categories, and the new product dresses with the information they carry.

Customers were also given an envelope with a note cut from seed paper. The note thanked the customer for their trust in the brand. It also included an invitation to join the new project by planting the message: let the seed grow into a blossoming plant. “We wanted our customers to get personally involved in our image change in addition to being informed. We offered them an opportunity to actively participate, as provided in our concept and expressed by our slogan “Let’s build green”, Maria Lopez explains.

David Alegret, Sales Director of Olivé Química Spain, says that it is very important for the company to participate in fairs to show the market the new products and systems, and to spead all the news. “We participate in at least two fairs in Spain each year. One private fair for a franchise with more than 1,000 shops in Spain and one more specialised fair. We always have a good outcome with new potential customers. From VETECO we had great feedback, a lot of people asking for the new system “i3+1”, as well as ordering the new sealants cartridges.”

Olivé Green Building concept takes the stage

Our international team has achieved a goal it has worked on for over a year – the re-branded OLIVÉ Green Building product family was first presented in October at the VETECO 2016 trade fair in Madrid.

AFTER THE FAIR, Olivé Química’s Managing Director Luis Olivé Palau shared his satisfaction with the results and his expectations for a good market reception of the new concept in 2017.

VETECO, Spain’s largest fair specialising in glass façades and aluminium doors and windows had been chosen as the venue, on which to introduce OLIVÉ Green Building range to the public. The fair is mainly local, although there were quite a lot of visitors from Portugal and North Africa.

“VETECO has been the right place and came at the right moment to present the new OLIVÉ Green concept straight from the oven”, Luis Olivé Palau noted. “We presented to agents, distributors and customers not only the new logo, but also the whole concept, from the new packaging to the new systems-oriented portfolio that will be available under the OLIVÉ Systems label.”

The intelligent window installation system “i3+1” raised great interest at the fair, as it offers the customer a full window installation solution - an important part of energy-efficient construction.

and the fair included a number of conferences and workshops on this subject.

“The feedback we received was very good,” says the Managing Director of the Spanish company with satisfaction. “The new OLIVÉ logo and product packaging design were praised a lot and many visitors asked for additional information on the “i3+1” window installation system.”

Preceded by thorough market research

The decision to update the OLIVÉ brand was taken a long time ago. As the product range is targeted primarily at the Mediterranean market, the Wolf Group team conducted special market research in Spain, Portugal and France. Some of it was literally an investigation of the market: the Wolf Group Business Development and Marketing Director Tiit Arro and Retail Trade Director Dovydas Auštras with the local leaders of Olivé Química visited retail resellers and industrial customers in each country, followed by an analysis of the specific features of the market.

First of all, it was clear that customers were expecting a product that meets the principles and requirements of future

construction. All new and fully renovated buildings in the European Union must be energy-efficient from 2020. To quote José Manuel Castro, the Managing Director of the French subsidiary of Olivé Química: “In our expectations, the new product brand was to comply with the French construction laws that are moving toward the German Passive House concept. The laws have changed in recent years; the first step was RT2005 and the future target is RT2020 (RT = Réglementation Technique + the year). Under these rules, the airtightness and energy efficiency requirements for building are becoming considerably stricter over time.”

The packaging supports the professional

Another goal was to give the product series informative and clear packaging aimed at professionals and industrial clients.

The partner for this task, the Spanish branding and design agency SUMMA: was familiar from an earlier cooperation.

They helped Wolf Group develop the PENOSIL EasyPRO retail concept and the OLIVÉ Green Building concept.

“Thanks to the excellent and detailed brief presented to the agency – prepared under the leadership of Krimelte’s Marketing Director Philip P. Philipoff – after just two or three meetings we had the first design routes to be developed further,” says Luis Olivé Palau. “At this point, we had three different routes and one big decision to take. Together with

market. The easiest way to perceive the change is to think how the building products have become concentrated in the supermarkets over the past decades, while smaller construction materials stores have been forced to close down or specialise in niche products.

Tiit Arro: “Building products will never be marketed as massively as washing powder or toothpaste, but the logic of the market is moving in the same direction – it is approaching the market for fast-moving consumer goods. For us, this means that the packaging of the construction products has to move in the same direction. We also have to apply all the modern marketing principles, such Olivé Química’s Marketing Manager María López, we have asked the Sales team to participate in the selection, and the chosen design is the one we then developed and presented at VETECO.” David Alegret, Sales Director for Spain, says the new packaging concept makes it possible to increase sales, as well as the skills of the Sales team: “With the new product dress we are offering a revolution in packaging, giving technical information on the label itself and, and this way, extra value to our customers.”

“It’s the best solution for a perfect job, adapted to the special technical requirements to soon enter into force,” Castro adds.

Renewed product tree

During the brand repositioning, the taxo­nomy or ‘product tree’ of the entire OLIVÉ product series was reviewed and renewed. The changes were based on the consumers’ web behaviour and the information they search online.

Dovydas Auštras: “Why did we start a new taxonomy system: first, to make it clear to the buyer what job the product is suitable for; second, to identify where Wolf Group products should be pitching in the market; third, to make clear application categories, which helps us to see if there is any product/ solution missing to complete the full range.”

Dovydas Auštras stresses that the main trend is moving towards a more sustainable future. “We want to take the lead in construction sealants, in order to make the world more sustainable. The

changes start from the product concept, but it will go deeper and wider – I mean the production will be more environmentally friendly, the business process will be more efficient and sustainable, also our customers will be shown how to be more environmentally sustainable.

It’s about to change the values of the whole sales channel – starting from supply, ending with product application.”

as user experience design, user benefit, and the unique selling points idea. We thoroughly reviewed our marketing approach in regard to the entire OLIVÉ product range, and we believe that we are on the right path.”

“This new logo, plus labelling, plus product portfolio presentation, together with the systems we will offer, gives us the chance to offer our customers the sealing solutions as required by the market, following the latest European regulations on energy savings, and to be a reliable partner/supplier in the industry,” says Olivé Química’s Managing Director Luis Olivé Palau in summary.

“client” of the Product Management department as a support service, the new structural unit actually cooperates with all the rest in the company. Veigo Kallaste explains what one can learn and expect from his team.

1. Management of product development projects

“We are the so-called ‘owners’ of the project, who track the project from the idea to the sales results and we are responsible for the entire product development cycle,” Mr. Kallaste says.

Product development is usually associated with lab procedures, and this will continue to be the case. However, the lab work is done mainly by chemists, as most of the product managers are civil engineers. The Product Management department has to identify what development work needs to be done, for whom, and for what purpose. Once they clarify this, they can carry out the development.

In addition, each stage of product development has its own role to play. Veigo

Kallaste cites the following examples: “In the preliminary phase, our role is to establish the initial task and draw up the project plan, as well as to assign the team. In the product development phase, we cooperate with the R&D, as well as with the Marketing departments to design and create the product support documents. During the evaluation of the results and the feedback phase, we communicate with the Sales department to assess the suitability of the product for its targeted application and the compliance with the objectives established in the initial task. A great deal of cooperation occurs with all the other units in the Group.”

2. Management of existing portfolios

In this case, the Product Management department partners with the Marketing and helps to better position the portfolio.

“Each product has its good features.

We can help to direct the client’s attention to these features and explain how they would be most beneficial,” says

Veigo Kallaste.

There are several product portfolios and how they relate to each other, create synergy, or overlap or compete with each other requires constant analysis. This can result in new concepts or the redesign of projects.

“Besides the above, one must make sure that each product has an appropriate and competitive formula,” says Veigo Kallaste.

3. Product support

The third main assignment for the Product Management team is the preparation, the updating and the maintenance of a set of support documents for each product. This is the most familiar part of the product management work. In the future, the documents should include informational materials providing advice and guidance (i.e. installation and maintenance instructions; assembly drawings for application areas), which the Sales department can send to the clients and prospects.

Product support also includes trainings and technical consulting related to the features of the product, its application areas and the proper installations methods.

BAU, the Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials and Systems, sets the construction industry’s standards and is the most important businesses get-together. On the last BAU in 2015, more than 2,000 exhibitors from 42 countries and more than 250,000 visitors ensured plenty of hustle and bustle on 183,000 m² of space in 17 exhibition halls.

BAU 2017 features materials, technology and systems for commercial and residential construction and interior works for both, new developments, as well as modernization and renovation projects. The offering of wholly developed long ranges of branded products is interesting for both, the large construction companies and the wholesale distributors. The new distinctive Olivé’s professional line product dress, which has its global premier on BAU, is an important additional incentive to visit the Wolf Group’s compartment. Penosil EasyPRO concept, which has already received warm welcome on several European markets, is presented for first time in full-scale on such a major industry forum. The value-added philosophy behind this new product line, as well as the complete package of marketing and sales support developed for it - without doubt make a news for the retailers, the DIY chains, and the individual homebuilders.

Moreover, during the fair demonstrations will take place on how to benefit from the use of the patented innovative tools, which accompany the products under the new concept - the EasyPRO spatula for the sealants and the EasyPRO foam applicator.

The stand and the accompanying online and print materials will concentrate on four brands: the umbrella Wolf Group brand itself, the production brand Krimelte, and the two main product brands of the Group: Penosil and Olivé.

On BAU 2017, Wolf Group will offer novelties to answer the expectations of each of the Company’s four main customer segments: @HOME (retail and DIY), @CONSTRUCTION (professional construction companies and distributors), @FACTORY (industrial solutions), as well as @OFFICE (Private Label clients). The stand will feature a designated area for each of the above sectors.

During the busy days of the fair, no less than a dozen knowledgeable and multilingual Wolf Group Team members will be available to give any necessary information to the visitors of the stand.

The design of the stand, as well as its production and assembly, have once again been entrusted to Tallinn’s Prof. Aivar Habakukk and the team of Linex.

Giving a wink to the host city of Munich, the traditional Bavarian refreshment - beer will be offered to the visitors of the Wolf Group’s stand. For those, who prefer wine - the Company’s Iberian crew will show Mediterranean hospitality with a fine selection of Rioja.

Air leakage in new home being assessed using the ‘blower door’ airtightness test

WITH SUCH a high proportion of heat lost through the roof, airtightness depends on a high standard of installation. With roof windows, for example, a lack of care is often taken with basic detailing such as cutting the underlay. In such situations, despite the fact that specialist tapes or sealants may have been specified by the architect, an air leakage test will quickly reveal poor performance if the wrong products have been used.

Sadly, this happens all too often and with the rough and uneven surfaces in roof spaces the products soon fail. As a result, there is an increasing trend towards trying to ‘design out’ such problems, by adding features such as integral self-adhesive strips on underlays and air barriers, to seal laps and junctions with walls, chimneys etc.

Passivhaus and EnerPHit® (for refurbishments) demand the highest levels of thermal insulation. If installed correctly, ‘passive’ windows help ensure that a building requires virtually no heating

Despite widespread improvements throughout Europe in regulations affecting thermal insulation levels, designers of energy efficient buildings still have to deal with the problem of potential air leakage paths and thermal bridges. The high performance criteria set by standards such as Passivhaus can therefore be difficult to achieve unless the right products are used.

through having no more than 0.6 air changes per hour. This guarantees an environment which offers enhanced comfort for the home owner, whatever the weather outside.

Truly energy-efficient roof windows aren’t common

Surprisingly, there are still few roof windows which either meet Passivhaus requirements or have achieved certification by the Passivhaus Institute. They must be triple glazed but not all tripleglazed roof windows meet the demanding minimum U-value performance required. The U-value measures how quickly heat from inside a building leaks to the outside or, in the case of an individual product, its insulation performance.

U-values are measured in W/m2K*.

We don’t need to go into a definition of this term here other than to say that the ‘Uw’ value refers to the performance of the entire window while the ‘Ug’ covers

just the glazing unit. Passivhaus requires a window to achieve a Uw of 0.80 W/ m2K or lower (0.85 for EnerPHit) and to put this into context, better doubleglazed roof windows achieve a Uw figure between 1.2 – 1.4 W/m2K. Passivhauscertified roof windows are around twice as effective, at around 0.7 – 0.8, though the best standard product currently available is actually quadruple-glazed and has a Uw of 0.58!

Thermal losses through (as distinct from around) a window will occur if inadequate seals and spacers between panes are used, or if joints are poorly constructed. Accessories such as an insulation collar around the frame (which more often than not is used anyway in energy efficient designs) won’t make up for a window’s poor performance.

Timber windows should be manufactured using material that will remain dimensionally stable over time, ideally, one with a close grain. Whitewood pine, which is favoured by some roof window manufacturers, is fast growing and therefore has an open grain. Redwood

pine, by contrast, is slower growing, more dense and tends to be used in better performing products.

Airtightness and controlled ventilation An airtight building still needs to have controlled ventilation in order to provide fresh air and this is usually provided by a mechanically operated ventilation system with heat recovery (MVHR). MVHR works on the principle of extracting warm, moist air and then passing it through a heat exchanger. Fresh, incoming air is then pre-heated via the heat exchanger and ducted to each room. A system requires non-vented roof windows to be used but these are not widely available as standard products, though one manufacturer routinely does so.

Using the right sealants, tapes and vapour control layers

With roofs, an air barrier (or vapour control layer) must be provided over the ceiling using specialist tapes and seal-

ants to seal gaps. These include holes made for pipes and wires in order to ensure that the air barrier is continuous.

Some air barriers now also have a reflective surface to help maximise the value of heat generated.

Air leakage of homes can be assessed at different stages of construction with pressurisation and depressurisation tests being undertaken as part of the Passivhaus certification process. Where remedial work is needed, specialist products from the Wolf Group include Penosil EasyPRO Roof & Façade Elastic as well as other hybrid sealants under the Penosil and Olivé brands. Designed to provide a long service life under the most demanding conditions, their contribution to airtightness is out of all proportion to their cost. If such materials are not used, the chances are that the standard of airtightness will quickly deteriorate, thereby defeating the entire purpose of the building’s original concept and design. *Watts per square metre per degree Kelvin

Attractive packaging depends on the printing

Mr. Martti Lemendik, the CEO of the company says that packaging is made at-

tractive, above all, by its appearance, and printing plays a very important role.

The aerosol containers produced by Metaprint are comprised of three parts, which means that the bodies are printed on large sheets before being made into containers. “Depending on the size of the containers, up to 52 container bodies can fit onto one sheet. Traditionally offset printing technology is used, which produces a high-resolution image,” adds Mr. Lemendik. In addition, small batches can be printed using digital technology, which works like a document printer in an office, but the printer is much larger.

Today, Metaprint produces metal packaging, or more precisely, aerosol containers, in three factories: in Tallinn and Pärnu, Estonia, and St. Petersburg, Russia. The company’s headquarters are located in Tallinn, where the full production cycle is sited, along with the administrative and support activities. A full production cycle in this case means that, besides the production of the containers themselves, they also deal with all the additional components and operations, i.e. manufacturing of the tops and the bottoms, and printing on the surface of the packaging materials.

Long-term and close partners

Mr. Lemendik recalls that the cooperation with Krimelte begun when Metaprint started manufacturing aerosol containers. “The first shipment was dispatched from the Tallinn factory in August 2003. We are proud that Krimelte has been the first and still remains our main aerosol container customer,” says Lemendik. Over time two

He adds: “Following Krimelte, our company also launched production in Russia, and currently the container needs at their Zhukovsky plant are filled by Metaprint’s St. Petersburg production.”

Throughout this period of rapid development, the company has remained true to its fundamental values, which are customer-orientation, responsibility, environmental friendliness and sustainability. The certification of the company’s processes is based on five different management standards, the most interesting being the ISO12647 for offset printing, which only one other metal container producer in Europe besides Metaprint has acquired.

This year, the traditional Wolf Club’s family day of the Estonian Team took place on August 7th. It was held at the area of the Tallinn’s Seaplane Harbour.

The event was held under a large tent next to a marine-styled playground and inflatable castles, much to the enjoyment of the numerous children. The tone for wolf howl announcing the start of the event was called by the Company’s co-founder Jaanus Paeväli.

Besides the barbeque and other tasty meals, the time seemed short to accommodate the busy program, which included among others interesting stories of sea monsters by the famous marine biologist Aleksei Turovski.

For the curious, a Lifeboat workshop was organized: the voluntary sea rescuers shared exciting stories and demonstrated emergency rescue at the sea. Some brave

wolves did not hesitate to get their fur wet.

Two old-style ships, the Norwegian wooden schooner “Kajsamoor” - built in 1939, and the steamer “Katharina” - a typical Nordic coastal passenger sailing vessel, also built in Norway but in 1964, took the wolves aboard for an unforgettable sea cruise along the Bay of Tallinn.

A special attraction was the guided tour of the “Suur Tõll” icebreaker, which was retired at the quay of the Seaplane Harbour. Built in 1914, this museum ship was Estonia’s oldest and most dignified, and was one of the three steam-powered icebreakers from the early 20th century that had been preserved in the Baltic Sea region. The guide was a seasoned “sea

wolf” who had served on “Suur Tõll” for many years and knew the icebreaker’s dramatic history in detail. Named after the mythological Estonian giant hero from the island of Saaremaa, this ship’s saga was itself an illustration of country’s recent history. Once among the world’s most powerful icebreakers, the steamer had flown the flags of Imperial Russia, Finland, the Soviet Union and the Republic of Estonia under the names “Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich”, “Volynets”, “Wäinämöinen” and “Suur Tõll”.

At the end of this full of events family day, a concert of the young pop star KarlErik Taukar brought the tired pups back from the playgrounds.
