Gluing is often the only way to fixate some materials. Penosil’s Adhering category products provide a fast, solid and durable fixation with wide range of materials. Penosil's adhesives can be used for many interior and exterior construction works, from simple mirror installation to fixing building blocks and insulation panels.
In our adhesives range, you can find a variety of innovative foams, sealants, putties and sprays in multiple packaging options.
How to choose the correct adhesive:
1. First, assess what type of materials will be glued together:
What is their porosity, rigidity, size, shape and weight?
■ Porous materials: almost all adhesives can be used to glue porous materials.
■ Non-porous materials: hybrid, cyanoacrylates (instant glue) or epoxy adhesives are the best choices for fixing non-porous materials.
2. Secondly, assess the conditions the adhesive needs to perform in:
Is it for interior or exterior use? Does it need to be moisture proof, temperature or UV resistant? Does it need to be a rigid connection? Or should the adhesive be able to move with the structure without losing its adhesive bond?
■ Use hybrid adhesives for exterior and interior application where elastic connection is needed.
■ Use solvent-based adhesives for exterior applications where rigid connection is needed.
3. Thirdly, assess the working conditions:
Should the processing time be very short or a little longer? Should the curing speed be as fast as possible?
■ Use high-tack products for instant connection.
Foam adhesives
Use foam adhesives for general construction works such as fixing various boards and construction blocks. Foam adhesives have excellent thermal- and sound-insulation properties, and they form a strong and durable bond with most common construction materials.

FOAM ADHESIVES: Tips and tricks
Best results:
■ Make sure the surfaces are clean of dust, loose particles, grease and oil stains.
■ Adhesive foams need humidity to cure. Spray some water mist on the surfaces to help the foam cure faster (only at temperatures above zero).
■ Caution! You want to dampen the surface - do not wet it or the foam will not stick to the surface. Wipe the surface with cloth if it’s too wet.
■ Working at low temperatures, the foam can must be prewarmed to room temperature (around 20°C).
■ Excess foam adhesive can be cut after it has fully cured.
■ Do not cut or cover the foam adhesive before it has fully cured.
Cleaning:
■ Uncured foam adhesive on tools and surfaces can be cleaned with Penosil Foam Cleaner 929 or acetone.
■ Uncured foam adhesive on the hands and clothes can be cleaned with Penosil Cleaning Wipes 941
■ Clean the foam gun straight away after finishing. If the foam adhesive cures inside the gun, the gun will be ruined.
■ Screw the Penosil Foam Cleaner 929 onto the gun and spray until the liquid comes out clean.
■ Cured foam adhesive clogs the applicator tip, clean the applicator tip after every use.
■ Always use protective glasses and gloves when working with foam adhesive.
Adhering
How to use:
■ Hold the can upside down when extruding the foam adhesive.
■ Foam adhesive output can be adjusted with the gun trigger and adjustment screw.
■ Extrude some of the initial foam adhesive (1-2 sec) into a binbag to get rid of air bubbles.
■ Insulation boards and interior design boards: Apply the foam adhesive to board surface in a continuous flow, parallel with the sides of the board (3 to 4 cm from the edge) and one strip in the middle, parallel to the longest side (up to 25 cm between adhesive strips). Press the board onto the wall. The board can be adjusted during the time indicated on the product label.
■ Windowsills: Make sure the base surface is levelled. Spacers must be used to support the windowsill; foam can only be used as an adhesive. Apply foam adhesive to the base surface 3 to 4 cm from the edge. Weights must be used to fix the windowsill until the foam adhesive is cured.
■ Construction blocks: Foam adhesive can be used for building non-load-bearing interior walls. The first row of blocks must be well levelled using mortar. Foam adhesive should be applied to both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Wait for a few minutes after applying the foam adhesive and then press the stone surfaces together. Foam adhesive can only be used in the case that even distribution of loads from block to block is ensured.
ADHESIVE SEALANTS: Tips and tricks
Best results:
■ Make sure surfaces are clean, dry and free from any dust, loose particles, water, grease and oil stains.
■ Non-porous surfaces should be cleaned with solvent and a clean, non-fluffy cotton cloth. Solvent excess should be removed with a clean cloth.
■ Solvent and acrylic adhesives: make sure that solvent and water can evaporate and exit the joint during the curing process.
■ Hybrid adhesives: make sure that air humidity can access the adhesive joint during the curing process.
■ Ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area.
■ Non-porous surfaces: when bonding together two non-porous surfaces, it is important to ensure sufficient spacing between the surfaces, e.g. by using a match or a toothpick. Air humidity helps the curing process.
■ The adhesive pattern should be thin, so that when the surfaces are pressed together, the width of the adhesive pattern does not exceed 3 to 4 mm.
Which glue patterns to use:
■ In exterior conditions: the adhesive should be applied either in a vertical or dotted pattern to allow the occasional water to flow out of the adhesive joint.
■ Hybrid adhesives: a dotted or zigzag pattern should be used when applying hybrid adhesives.
These patterns reduce adhesive consumption and avoid it being squeezed out of the joint.
■ When installing skirting board in the corners use a straight-line pattern.
■ Acrylic adhesives: same as for hybrid adhesives, a dotted or zigzag pattern should be used.
How to use:
■ Cut the tip of the cartridge.
■ Screw on the nozzle and cut an opening.
■ Place the cartridge into a sealant gun.
■ Apply the adhesive by keeping an even pressure on the gun trigger and smoothly dragging the nozzle along the surface.
■ Immediately press the surfaces together and apply pressure or support until the product is fully cured.
■ Clean the adjacent surfaces, tools and hands either with water, solvent or Penosil Cleaning Wipes 941
FLOORING ADHESIVES: Tips and tricks
Parquet flooring adhesive: Best results:
■ Surfaces must be clean, dry, stable and free from any dust, loose particles and oil residues.
■ Bring the adhesive to room temperature before application.
■ For 1 kg/m² use trowel B6.
■ Depending on the notch trowel, subfloor preparation and flooring material, the consumption is approximately 1-1.7 kg/m².
■ Minimum 1 kg of adhesive must be used for 1 m². If necessary, use a bigger trowel for more adhesive.
■ The adhesion and compatibility should be tested beforehand for wooden flooring that has been previously treated with chemicals or contains a large amount of oil.
■ To install the flooring correctly, follow the parquet manufacturer's instructions.
■ Surplus adhesive can be preserved by closing the corner of the foil bag with a clamp and then closing the container lid.
How to use:
■ Cut the corner of a foil bag and pour some product onto the subsurface.
■ Spread the adhesive with a notch trowel onto an area that can be covered within the application time.
■ Press the parquet elements onto the adhesive, shift them to the correct position and bring together by using an installation hammer.
■ Do not allow the product to get between the parquet elements. Any adhesive on the parquet elements must be removed immediately.
■ Weights must be used to fix the flooring: approximately 15 - 20 kg/m².

EPOXY PUTTY ADHESIVES: Tips and tricks
Best results:
■ In order to achieve a strong and fast adhesion, roughen the surface beforehand with sandpaper or other similar material.
■ Surface must be clean and free from any dust or loose particles.
■ With moist fingers it is much easier to mix, apply and smoothen the putty.
■ When applying the putty to moist, wet or slowly leaking surfaces, press the putty strongly onto the surface and keep the pressure on until it adheres.
■ Uniform putty mixing is important for a good-quality end result.
■ Uncured product can be removed with Penosil Cleaning Wipes 941 or water. Cured product can be removed mechanically.

■ Cut or twist off a required amount of putty.
■ Knead it with your fingers until the putty colour is uniform.
■ If kneading is difficult, warm the putty to a room temperature or slightly above.
■ Apply the putty to the surfaces to be repaired within 2 minutes of mixing.
■ Press the product onto the surface and immediately after application, remove any excess putty with a moistened tool or finger.
