Everything around us has changed at least a little since yesterday. In nature, a tree has grown a little, a flower blossomed, bees have made new honey, a cloud has disappeared, a bird has sung… Even the things we can’t see change, but it does not mean we can’t find out about these changes.

Lara and Tina are curious, imaginative and always happy to learn something new.

Let’s find out new things together with Lara and Tina! What happens when we put sugar in water?

What should we do to make a candle not burn out? How can we hide a coin in salty water? How can you tame an egg? We can learn more about all these things if we find what we need and do an experiment. At the beginning, we will ask questions, and then we will look for answers. It will be quite an adventure!

Lucas knows stories that hide questions, and Mary knows many answers.

Ice Bars I love when ice is like a thin shell. I can nibble at it!

fter many snowy days, a sunny morning dawned. The window was so bright, as if spring had come.

But the next day it was cold again, and everything looked different. Ice bars appeared on the window, and the sun couldn’t be seen anywhere.

Where did the ice bar on the window come from? You will find that out when you do the experiment on the next page.

Since you’re mentioning ice, I’ll tell you what happened last winter.

will need:

water, a few cubes of ice, a little saucepan, a lid, a cooker, help from an adult.

2. Pour some water in the saucepan and

heat it on the cooker. When the water boils, it will turn into steam.

will need:

two glasses, water, sugar, a teaspoon.

1. Half-fill one of the glasses with

water. Add a spoon of sugar in the water and stir it. The sugar will dissolve in the water.

2. Half-fill the other glass with water. Add some sand and stir it. The sand will not dissolve in the water.

Sand is heavier than water, which is why it will fall to the bottom of any water filled container.

this too: rn Sugar dissolves in water easily. Sand does not dissolve in water. If you filter the water which contains sand, the water goes through the filter while the sand remains on it. This means that things that do not dissolve in water can be easily separated from it.
