Full automatic pelagic processing plant The Factory Varðin Pelagic is a state of the art factory.

The freezing capacity will be 800-1.000 ton per day.

From the vessel and until the fish is in the freezer, it will be kept at -1,5°C. The fish is frozen to -20°C in less than 4 hours. Our standard packaging is 2x15kg blocks in a carton box for herring, and 2x12,5kg for mackerel. The blocks are frozen in a sealed airtight bag and protected from the light. The frozen fish will never have any pressure mark from the freezing.

Varðin Pelagic has 7 automatic filleting machines cutting 300 fish per min. each.

Sublime pump system provides high quality raw material The Varðin way of fishing, is unique for the quality of the Mackerel and other Pelagic Fish.

The simple drawing illustrates the way of fishing. The vessel in front is towing the trawl, while the vessel in the back has a hose connected to a pump at the end of the trawl. The fish that comes into the trawl is pumped directly into the cooling tanks of the vessel in the back. It takes 45 sec. from the fish is alive at the bottom of the trawl, until it is in the cooling tanks of the vessel. From here it takes less than 30 min for the fish to reach -1°C. Varðin Pelagic has a MSC Certification. Varðin fleet has a MSC Certification for fishing Mackerel, Herring and Blue Whiting.
