When contracting Atlantic Helicopters, our customers receive the full package. Our experienced crew take care of flights, Operating Permits for the area, Handling, Airport communication etc. We also take care of the complete passenger equipment. This means survival suits, air breathers, video briefing etc. Please take a minute or two to get a short inside view of our company, and what we stand for.
Atlantic History still an important and not always easy task. The Faroe Islands can be as tricky as they are beautiful. The flying was done with the Bell 212, which during this period really got the chance to prove itself. Though the company not yet had HEMS flying on their agenda, the
experienced crew knew the fjords so well, that they on more than one occasion were called out to pick up patients from remote islands.

Since it’s start on the 24’th of March 1994, Atlantic Helicopters, Atlantic Airways’ helicopter division, has operated North Atlantic Waters. Even though the first years only meant routing the Islands with passengers, this was

contract with the Faroese Government In the years to come, pilots from Atlantic would conduct a lot of sling work around the Islands, giving them an even better understanding of the very special meteorological environment the Faroe Islands have to offer. How ever special the task was, the Bell 212 came in handy, and solved many special cases. From slinging tractors, fish and cement to film making.
In 2000 Atlantic Helicopters signed a contract with the Faroese Government to undertake SAR/HEMS in Faroese waters. To reach this goal, Atlantic purchased a new helicopter. Because of the good experience with the Bell type, which had proven it self on so many occasions, the choice fell on the B412. A Bell 412 EP
with four axis autopilot entered service in 2000, and for almost ten years, Atlantic has had an aircraft with crew, including a rescue team, on std. by 24/7. Since then, the operation with 50 callouts a year has proven the need. Also the pilots started to undergo training with Flight Safety International in Texas on a regular basis.

Off-shore one of the best in the field
As well as entering SAR/ HEMS service, this last decade has also given Atlantic the opportunity to gain experience in the off-shore industry. Atlantic has operated offshore from Norwich and Den Helder as well as from Faroese soil, during exploration drilling. Furthermore the company has undertaken crew changes for seismic companies in the North Sea and North Atlantic. These tasks, together with island routing, sling loading, hoisting etc. have molded the crews of Atlantic Helicopters to be one of the best in the field.
Other yearly training to mention could be HUET with breathing equipment, CRM, Dangerous Goods, Fire Fighting, Advanced First Aid, and of course a proficiency check every 6 months. Many of our pilots also have supplementary experience from other parts of the world. From the Persian Gulf, to the cold desert of Greenland. To this day, Atlantic Helicopters has not been involved in any serious incident.

Pilot training Atlantic top priority
Safety has always been Atlantic Helicopters’ top priority. Therefore our pilots undergo a yearly course with Flight Safety International, Texas, USA. This training has been done since 1995. These 14 day courses contain a minimum of 18 flying hours for each pilot. The training program is done in cooperation and good

Geophysical companies PGS, Veritas, Wavefield, Western Geco.
relations with FSI and various oil and gas producing companies. The training contains normal flight training, - this with all known malfunctions and emergencies. Also this training contains VFR as well as IFR, all weather and low visibility procedures.
