CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Maintaining your quality purchase will repay you by keeping its beauty for many years.

• Vacuum regularly. Frequent vacuuming is a carpet’s best friend. A suction only canister vacuum is best to prevent excess pilling, fuzzing and pulls. However, if this type is not available, set vacuum so that the brush is furthest away from the surface of the carpet.

• Remove spills immediately.

• Professionally clean as needed. Do not apply stain repellent treatments that contain silicone because they tend to accelerate carpet soiling.

• Keep doormats clean. Exercise preventative maintenance by placing absorbent mats at the most frequently used entrances to your home. Change or launder when these mats become soiled.

• The vacuum cleaner dust bag should be changed when half full.

• Filters in your heating and air conditioning systems should be changed regularly

Steps For Spot Removal

One of the most crucial areas of carpet maintenance is removal of spots and spills. Acting quickly when anything is spilled or dropped, and always having the necessary cleaning materials at hand are of the utmost importance.

• Immediately blot (do not rub) spills with white paper towels or with a clean absorbent cloth. Scoop up solids.

• All cleaning agents and solvents should be Ph neutral; pre-test should be done in an inconspicuous area.

• Apply the cleaning agent listed on the spot removal chart (right) to an absorbent towel and begin to blot up the spill with a blotting motion. Flip cloth to prevent reapplying soil.

• Do not over saturate with water.

• Work inwards from the edge of the spot to prevent excess spreading.

• Wait a few minutes for the cleaning agent to work on the spot.

• Follow recommended directions.

• Once the cleaning agent has removed the spot, blot excessive moisture by applying pressure with paper towels or a dry absorbent cloth.

• Rinse with clear water on a clean cloth.

• Remove excess moisture by applying pressure with paper towels.

Recommended Professional Cleaning

• Dry cleaning systems such as Capture®; Host®; Dri-Mate®; Wool Clean by Wools of New Zealand and Chem-Dry

• Truck-Mounted steam extraction is acceptable for tackless wall to wall installations. We do not recommend steam cleaning for loose lay rugs

• We do not recommend any portable units; nor any Bonnet systems or Rug Doctor systems

1 Add cold water and blot 2 Detergent solution or WoolClean Dry Spot Remover

Methylated mineral spirits, turpentine, or WoolClean Dry Spot Remover

Chill w/aerosol freezing agent/ ice cubes in plastic bag. Follow by picking/scraping off gum

5 Warm water

6 Clear nail polish remover (preferably acetone)

7 Isopropyl alcohol

8 Rust remover

9 Absorbent powder (e.g. salt, talc) or proprietary powders (e.g. Absorb-It)

10 Absorbent cleaner (WoolClean, Spot Dry remover, Host, Capture)

All wools are treated during dying with for moth resistance with Permethrin. This is a natural insecticide and is found in chrysanthemums. Dried permethrin can protect against a broad range of pests. It is also used in clothing, farming and as treatment for certain human skin conditions. Permethrin is a non-toxic pesticide approved by the FDA and is registered by the EPA since 1978.

GENERAL INFORMATION

INDOOR | OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE

• Long Lasting Durability

• Naturally Resistant to Stains, Fading, Mold & Mildew

• Easily Cleanable

• Non-Allergenic

This is a machine made product, variations in overall size up to 3%-5% and texture may occur. Weave lines, shear marks, and striations may appear in the carpet or rug. Slight color striations and shading are a normal occurrence. These natural irregularities are inherent characteristics of hand made carpets and are not to be considered manufacturing defects. Shedding and sprouting often occur in handmade floorcoverings. Handspun yarns may sometimes release ends of yarn that “sprout” or “fuzz” above the pile surface. If yarn extends beyond the carpet’s surface, simply clip it off so it is level with the surface pile and vacuum. DO NOT PULL loose fibers.

MAINTENANCE

• Vacuum as needed using suction only, no bristles or beater bars.

• Polypropylene is a form of plastic that has memory. Place area rug on flat surface and allow time to settle. Should curling occur, use tape to hold in place or add weight until flat again.

• Avoid exposure to heavy rain or standing water. If placed outside, store during winter months and inclement weather. Roll up with the front side out and place it indoors in a dry, well-ventilated area.

• Rug pad recommended for indoor spaces.

• Not recommended for heated floors.

• Polypropylene has a melting point of 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius). Ensure rug exposure does not exceed this temperature.

• Clean the rug monthly, using a soft nylon brush with a solution of mild dish soap and water. Make sure to clean both sides of the rug. For best results, have rug professionally cleaned after each season.

• Do not machine wash.

• Dry in sunlight; hang the rug or lay it out in the sun, then flip it over to make sure both sides dry thoroughly.

SPILLS & STAINS

• Blot liquids from the surface immediately with a clean, damp cloth.

• Dab area with a dry towel to absorb any extra moisture. If the stain remains, use a mild detergent or a solution of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water to blot or gently rub until the stain starts to lift. A tablespoon of bleach may be added but ensure to test a small area first. Results may vary based on the rug’s environment, color and age. Rinse thoroughly.

A thermoplastic fiber that is heavier, thicker and slightly rougher in texture with a high luster. It is suitable for outdoors as well as indoor use. It absorbs less water/moisture and dries much faster, making it mildew resistant and suitable for all moist, humid conditions. Although, it is innately less UV resistant comparatively, UV absorbers/stabilizers are added during production process that makes PP fiber resist polymer degradation in UV light (the sun for instance). It has a hygienic structure that does not cause allergic reactions. It is very stable when interacting with most chemicals; resistant to sea and swimming pool water. PP can show foot prints, smooth any imprints and wrinkles by hand. Polypropylene has a melting point of 338 degrees Fahrenheit (170 degrees Celsius). Ensure rug exposure does not exceed this temperature.
