Among the many children entering the care of Rainbow Homes are those who the Sneh Sathis find to be different or slow in their development, compared to children of their age. For reasons ranging from poor prenatal health of their mothers, complications during and after birth etc. several children have congenitally defects in their brain development which often show up as poor performance at school, poor adjustment with other children, or behaviour issues. This booklet attempts to educate and offer practical guidelines to Sneh Sathis to attend to this population of Children with Special Need in our homes. Instead of “writing them off”, extending their “sympathy” or feeling helpless, it helps the cares to recognise the condition and manage the child in a healthy way to help the child reach her fullest potential and lead a life of dignity. This booklet is in the final stages of designing and printing.
