November 2, 2021 Pohnpei—It’s been nearly two weeks since the Pohnpei Department of Public Safety completely changed the traffic rules at what has come to be known as the “Blue Nile Intersection”. Overhead video shows that even after all this time and with announcements having been made on State Radio Station V6AH, many people have not noticed the changes and are continuing as if no changes were made. But the changes are significant and according to Director of the Department of Public Safety, Patrick Carl, more are scheduled to begin soon. For now, the principal change has to do with who has the right of way at the Blue Nile Intersection. Mortain Peles arrested in connection with the brutal stabbing death of his uncle By Bill Jaynes The Kaselehlie Press October 30, 2021 Pohnpei—Pohnpei Police Officers arrested and jailed Mortain Peles in connection with the brutal murder of his uncle, Liberson Peles who was found dead in his home in Ipwal, Sokehs on the evening of Friday, October 22. Liberson’s brother, Boaz discovered his brother’s body inside his home. Boaz immediately called his friend Ferny Perman who told him to call 911 emergency dispatch immediately. By the time Perman arrived at Liberson’s home, police were already on site conducting their crime scene investigation.

Based on witness statements, police arrested Mortain. On October 25, Pohnpei prosecutors filed a criminal information charging Mortain with Murder, Assault and Battery with Dangerous Weapon, Felonious Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery, and Boaz’s search ended at his brother’s home with the Disorderly Conduct and all as related gruesome discovery.
