Homestead High School’s show choirs will perform their shows twice again this spring, even as director Curtis Shaw begins rebuilding
the troupes for next school year. The choirs, which gathered national honors in 2014, did not enter state and national competition in 2015. The choirs performed
their last road show March 14, at the Carroll Classic at Carroll High School. That concert was not an ISSMA qualifying event. The women’s choir, Elite, brought 38 performers to the stage to

Winter guard’s 2015 show good for state runner-up The Homestead High School winter guard was the silver medalist in the state finals at Center Grove, completing the
2015 competition season. Ben Davis High School was the gold medalist, though Homestead tightened the scoring gap between the state preliminaries on March 7 and

Homestead High School will showcase a school year’s worth of student art, beginning with a coffee house setting from 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 10. “Having a public audience look at the student artwork, just getting feedback from their peers, the teachers in other departments, really gives the students a sense of pride, a sense of ownership,” said Sarah Jones, the Fine Arts Department chairwoman. “It’s our time to shine as artists and to show the ingenuity and innovations and the hard work that the students have put in. It means a lot to be recognized in that way,” Jones said. The public may visit that evening without charge to view student art. “The gallery will actually be open during school hours the following week if anybody wants to come in during the school days,”
ART SHOW Homestead High School, 4310 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne. Friday, April 10, 6-9 p.m.: Opening night of art gallery. Everyone is invited. Free. The National Honor Society will present a coffee house with poetry and more in the Community Room. In an unrelated event that same evening, the Purdue Glee Club will perform in a benefit for the Homestead and Bishop Dwenger high school show choirs, which also will perform.
