As we mark ESOP Day at Kovach, we ’ re not just celebrating employee ownership; we ’ re celebrating the incredible partnership we have with each other, with our clients and community. Being employee-owners means we all have a stake in the game, and that sense of shared responsibility is at the heart of how we deliver outstanding client experiences.
In the words of Michael Jordan, 'Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.' This quote really resonates with our journey. It’s our collective teamwork, our ability to rely on one another, that creates the kind of legacy we want in both our projects and our community relationships.
As we close out this year strong and set our sights on a beautiful and outstanding 2026, let's carry that spirit forward. As leaders, we ’ re committed to fostering an environment where every employeeowner feels empowered to perform at their best. Through this, we strengthen our client relationships and invest deeply in the well-being of the communities we serve.

Ownership was on full display this quarter at Kovach. Across projects and teams, employees are stepping up, supporting each other, and driving results that matter—here’s a closer look at what that looked like in Q3.
Q: What stood out about ownership this quarter?
A: Q3 really showed what it means to step up Take Project North Ray H. led the interior scope with confidence and consistency He didn’t just stick to his lane; he jumped in wherever he was needed That’s exactly what “Owning It” looks like “Ray’s proactive approach shows how ownership really comes to life.”
Q: How is the ESOP shaping teamwork?
A: The ESOP is helping bring everyone closer together Kovach has always been grounded in strong values, but the ESOP amplifies that sense of shared responsibility and pride Teams are stepping up for each other, tackling projects head-on, and contributing to bigger company goals
Q: Were there any challenges this quarter?
A: Definitely The biggest challenge is making sure field crews feel connected to the ESOP. Committee feedback stressed the need for better communication and visibility so everyone can see how ownership impacts their daily work.
Q: What’s next for Q4 and how did the quarter wrap up?
A: Q4 is all about deepening engagement Field crews will get more consistent ESOP updates and reminders of how their contributions drive company success, helping make the connection between ownership and daily work even clearer
Q3 ended on a high note! Teams are collaborating, staying accountable, and living Kovach’s core values With a stronger focus on field engagement, the culture of ownership is set to grow even stronger.
“Ownership was the core value most visible in Q3.”

This quarter, KWIC brought energy, purpose, and empowerment to Kovach through events that reminded us why connection matters—both inside and outside the office. From neon-lit game nights to community service and financial wellness workshops, every experience was designed to strengthen relationships, spark joy, and provide tools for personal growth. These moments weren’t just activities—they were opportunities to recharge, learn, and lead together.
As you dive into this recap, you’ll see how KWIC continues to create spaces where collaboration thrives and confidence grows. Here’s a look at the highlights that made Q3 unforgettable—and a glimpse of what’s next.
We turned the 3rd-floor conference room into a neon escape for an unforgettable night of laughter, music, and glow-in-the-dark fun. Bingo After Dark wasn’t just a game—it was a celebration of saying “yes” to joy during the workweek and creating space to recharge together.
Kovach is proud to partner with ICON Builders in support of Ronald McDonald House. This organization provides far more than shelter—it offers families a sense of home, stability, and compassion during some of their most challenging moments.

This outreach highlights the power of community and connection, and serves as a reminder that even small acts of service can provide comfort and hope when it’s needed most.

We’re grateful to be part of a company that leads with intention, and appreciative of team members like Tierney Encinias and Cariño Maldonado whose commitment helps support causes that truly make a difference. As part of this effort, a meal was prepared for 30 families staying at Ronald McDonald House.
Thank you to Ronald McDonald House for the meaningful work you do each and every day.

KWIC ladies gathered for an inspiring and eye-opening financial wellness seminar led by Renee Scherzer from OneDigital—our trusted partner for 401(k) and ESOP guidance. Despite recovering from a recent procedure, Renee showed up with heart and wisdom, and we’re so grateful for her dedication!
This wasn’t your typical finance talk. Renee walked us through the “why” behind our money choices using behavioral finance—less spreadsheets, more real-life stories and “aha!” moments. We explored everything from paying down debt to investing for retirement, and even how to help our kids build smart money habits early.
The feedback was incredible—every woman, at every stage and road of life, walked away with something valuable. It was diverse, empowering, and full of practical tools to help us feel more confident and in control of our financial journeys.
Big thanks to Renee and OneDigital for making this session so impactful. Financial wellness truly is a form of self-care—and we’re here for it.

Looking Ahead to Q4

This quarter, the Wellness Committee took meaningful steps toward improving both physical and mental well-being at Kovach. Simple initiatives like fresh fruit deliveries, daily stretch breaks, and morning walks encouraged employees to recharge, stay active, and connect with one another.
The quarter’s standout achievement was the creation of the Kovach Wellness Garden—a hands-on project built by employee owners, for employee owners. Designed and constructed together, the garden offers a peaceful space to collaborate, unwind, and reflect. It’s become a living symbol of the teamwork an ure.

Ed as Helping Your Parents Navigate Retirement offered practical guidance for personal and family challenges, while upcoming activities like Wellness Bingo, yoga, and community walks aim to bring wellness to every corner of Kovach, from the field to the shop to the office.
Big Wins: The Wellness Committee successfully launched the Wellness Garden, introduced stretch breaks, and strengthened a culture of positivity and ownership that keeps growing—just like the garden itself.

This quarter, the PreCon team demonstrated that collaboration, empathy, and proactive leadership aren’t just concepts—they’re what drive results. By listening first, sharpening skills, and improving workflows, PreCon is pushing performance to the next level while empowering every team member to own their part of Kovach’s success.
PreCon is all about teamwork, both internally and with clients. Tim described a key example:
“Working with Core Construction on a new bid. They asked us to bid on a job that we weren’t very interested in, but since they are a key client, we bid it. During the discussions, it turned out to be a much better opportunity than we expected.”

This quarter, PreCon invested in skillbuilding and leadership: Pat Pennington facilitated a 4-week class on “How to Interview for Projects,” involving both BD and Operations. Two estimators were promoted to managerial roles, empowering others while keeping a strategic eye on business goals. Team members attended professional conferences to maintain certifications and expand client relationships.
To support our growing workload and improve efficiency, the PreCon team implemented new workflows and expanded roles: Hired a Business Development Coordinator to manage proposals, CRM, and leads.
Added a new PreCon Manager - Keith Walentiny, responsible for developing and closing new work.

This quarter, the Construction team raised the bar on coordination and accountability. From implementing the Red Zone process for high-priority projects to rolling out 3-Week Look Aheads, the team focused on proactive planning and clear communication. These tools helped identify challenges early, streamline decision-making, and keep schedules on track.

The Red Zone process is all about focus. By flagging projects that require extra attention early, the team ensures that resources, communication, and planning are aligned from day one.
Early Identification: High-risk or highimpact jobs are marked as Red Zone.
Enhanced Communication: Regular coordination calls and quick RFI turnaround keep issues from becoming roadblocks.
Dedicated Support: Extra leadership attention and resources help maintain momentum.

When sequencing delays threatened progress, crews documented issues, notified the GC, and worked with the office to adjust manpower avoiding downtime and keeping projects moving.
Dedicated L-10 Glass and Metal Field Meetings gave teams space to share ideas, troubleshoot, and strengthen collaboration. Combined with consistent pre-task planning and daily huddles, these efforts reinforced a culture of transparency and teamwork.

Every project tells the same story: when we plan ahead, own our roles, and communicate openly, we don’t just build structures—we build trust, efficiency, and a stronger Kovach team.

Q: Can you share an example of how the team collaborated across roles to solve a safety challenge?
A: During a glass installation project from elevated platforms, employees, supervisors, and safety reps worked together to improve tool tie-off methods. They identified safe tie-off points and created a project-specific inspection checklist, reducing the risk of dropped objects and reinforcing the importance of securing tools before work began.
Q: How did the team value different viewpoints when addressing safety concerns?
A: Safety meetings encouraged open discussions. Crew members voiced practical challenges with anchor point placement, while supervisors explained regulatory requirements. Instead of dismissing concerns, the team tested alternative methods onsite, finding solutions that balanced safety and productivity

Daily fall protection checks harnesses, lanyards, anchor points kept equipment reliable and crews focused These simple habits prevent complacency and keep safety top of mind all day.
"Routine isn’t boring—it’s the backbone of safety."
Q: Looking ahead, how can communication improve next quarter?
A: Strengthening pre-task planning discussions Clearer morning huddles will ensure everyone understands tasks, hazards, and control measures before starting work reducing confusion and improving coordination
Safety thrives when communication leads the way. Every discussion, every shared idea, and every planned step builds a stronger, safer team

This quarter, my focus has been on keeping systems secure, reliable, and productive while ensuring seamless support for daily operations From strengthening cybersecurity measures to optimizing platforms and improving user experience, these efforts are designed to enhance efficiency across the organization. Below, you’ll find a closer look at the key initiatives and stories that shaped our progress this quarter.

Software Updates & Compatibility Fixes: We’ve resolved issues with Revit and Inventor data exchange updates to ensure smooth workflows for design teams

Hardware Support: Multiple IT support sessions were completed to troubleshoot external display issues, optimize drivers, and maintain device performance.

Continuous Improvement: We’re working on streamlining processes and improving efficiency across departments, aligning with company-wide goals for lean operations and cost savings.

Cybersecurity remains a top priority as threats evolve rapidly. Here’s what’s new:
Emerging Threats: AI-driven attacks and machine identity exploits are on the rise, making Zero Trust principles and MFA more important than ever.
Global Incidents: Recent ransomware cases and supply-chain risks highlight why vigilance matters Even public infrastructure, like Norway’s electric buses, faced hidden remote-access vulnerabilities
Protect your logins at all costs. Threat actors need a way in and the easiest way is to trick you to giving up your email/password by means of clicking links. Think twice before clicking links from people you’re actively working with. (does this person normally send links……). When a mailbox has been compromised, the perp sits in the mailbox watching the habits and uses that to trick you into clicking something once they decide to release their damage
RH u m a n
This quarter, HR and IT teams attended the UKG Pro Conference in Las Vegas to explore innovative ideas and best practices for optimizing UKG Pro These insights will lead to improvements that enhance usability and employee experience. Additionally, HR welcomed Curtis Jackson as Director of People & Marketing, who launched a comprehensive HR Survey to gauge departmental effectiveness. These initiatives demonstrate HR’s commitment to continuous improvement and employee engagement, setting the stage for a more efficient and connected workplace

HRpromotedautonomythrough enhancedself-servicetoolsin UKGPro,enablingemployeesto managetime,benefits,and personalinformation independently.Managerswere supportedwithclearer expectationsandfeedback mechanisms,fostering accountability.Trainingsessions emphasizedpersonal responsibility,creatingaculture whereemployeesproactively contributetoteamsuccess.
The HR Survey results are guiding process enhancements aimed at streamlining workflows and improving efficiency. By actively reviewing feedback, HR is identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions that make day-to-day tasks easier for employees. These improvements will reduce administrative burdens and empower teams to focus on strategic priorities.

Through transparent communication and targeted training, HR helped employees see how their contributions align with company goals. The HR Survey encouraged reflection on individual roles, reinforcing the ownership mindset. Open dialogue and self-assessment tools further strengthened this connection, driving engagement and accountability.
This quarter, HR focused on reinforcing an ownership mindset while simultaneously elevating Kovach’s workforce and culture to achieve excellence. A key practice emphasized was mindful spending and resource management—encouraging employees to consider the financial impact of their decisions. This approach fosters accountability and strengthens the company’s bottom line, promoting thoughtful, responsible behaviors that align with organizationalsuccess.
In addition, HR played a pivotal role in raising the bar for workforce performance and collaboration. Strategic hiring brought in talent aligned with Kovach’s core values, while enhanced training programs ensured both office and field teams had the skills to excel. Improved communication channels bridged gaps between departments, boosting teamwork and efficiency. Leadership development initiatives cultivated accountability and resilience, creating a culture of continuous improvement. Together, these efforts not only reinforce ownership but also position Kovach as a strong contender forSubcontractoroftheYear.
HR plans to enhance employee engagement and feedback mechanisms by building on the recent survey. Regular opportunities for employees to share insights will foster transparency and strengthen the culture. This focus ensures employees feel valued and connected to Kovach’s mission.

This quarter, we continued our 1% Better journey, diving deeper into lessons from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Each week, Brad shared reflections that challenged us to pause, think, and apply small but meaningful changes in the way we live and work.
These weren’t just exercises for self-improvement—they were opportunities to strengthen our culture, build better relationships, and embody our core values: Positivity, Expertise, Own It, and Grit. Together, these habits helped us reflect not only on how we work, but how we connect— with each other, our clients, and ourselves.
Weeks 37-38: We focused on humility—learning the courage to apologize when we’re wrong and the strength to forgive when others fall short.
Weeks 39-41: We focused on humility—learning the courage to apologize when we’re wrong and the strength to forgive when others fall short.
Weeks 42-43: We practiced balancing courage with consideration and building agreements that strengthen partnerships.
Week 44: A reminder to give credit generously, recognizing those who support our success.
Weeks 45-48: We dug into the heart of communication with empathic listening—seeking first to understand, opening our hearts, and avoiding the trap of listening only to reply. Building Better, One Habit at a Time
Together, these lessons pushed us to reflect not just on how we work, but how we connect—with each other, our clients, and ourselves.
