01. PACE PROGRAM Type: Older adult day center Sq. Ft.: 6,000 Group/ individual: Group (3) Concept
The objective for our design is to create a sanctuary for the older adult community in Stillwater in which creates a comforting and inviting environment that establishes an easy transition for the older adults as they begin a new stage of their life. A sanctuary is defined as a place of refuge or safety.
Place Attachment Place Identity Giving the participants a feeling of autonomy and personalization within the space.
Social Bonding Creating areas within the space encouraging the participants to be social with one another.
Place Dependence The reason or reasons why the participants are wanting to come to the space.
Nature Bonding Emphasizing the ability for the participants to connect to nature within the space.

The residentially scaled kitchen brings a sense of familiarity, comfort, and autonomy for the older adults in the center. This is where the participants can enjoy casual food prep activities together.

THE UNIVERSITY COMMONS
Type: University Dorm Room Sq. Ft.: 170 Group/ individual: Group (4) Concept
Adapting to the diverse activities and styles within the college community to create a modular-based design which encourages occupants to customize the space to fit their personal needs. The space should provide adaptability for the different activities that may take place within the room.
The custom-designed modular chair can be used as a social piece or turned into extra storage.

The pegboard wall is added on either side of the room to provide a unique modular element. The custom furniture built for the room along with the luminaire is designed to fit into the pegboard wall to ensure the users are able to move the furniture however they may want. The pegboard provides the option to put more furniture up on a wall instead of taking up square footage in the small room.Â
How it works Magnetic chromed piping on the frame of each translucent cube conducts low voltage electricity that transmits a current without shocking the user. Since the frame transfers electricity, only the first cube needs to be plugged into a wall outlet. The electricity from the first cube will then transmit the current into any amount of cubes that are magnetized to it.

Establish a duo retail environment that functions both as a retail environment that sells products as well as services. The movement of the space should be both functional and guiding, in order to create a strong organizational flow which allows for the customers to have their pathways and for the employees to have an easy of flow for their arrangement needs.

STILLWATER CHILDRENS HOSPITAL

Group/ individual: Individual Concept
To create a space that allows the patient to grow mentally through engagement, physically through space and activities, and emotionally through social interaction and support. The space should bring a sense of playfulness. It is important that the space provides stimulus for the children because many times they are admitted for a long period of time during their developing phase of life.

Room to Grow Emotional Growth Elements such as views to the community garden outside their window and ample amount of space for the family give emotional support for the patients to ensure they are emotionally stable in the space. Mental Growth Activities such as the smartboard, the blocks, and the interactive tablet help stimulate the patients’ developing minds to continue their education during their stay, especially for the patients who have a longer visit. Physical Growth Design features such as size-adjustable patient bed and large wardrobes will assist in giving room for the child to physically grow. Physical growth may also include features that prevent diseases getting into the room.
Zones The four zones in a patient room include the clinical (blue), patient (green), family (yellow), and bathroom (orange).
Views The patient should have views to the clinical zone, the family zone, and the window in order to give ease of mind.
Space The patient needs to have at least 3 feet of unobstructed space around the bed for equipment and ease of exit.
Safety A safety concern is the bathroom zone. It should be easy accessable for the patient and should contain safety measures.
Full sized pull-out couch for family members to feel comfortable staying overnight.
Size-adjustable patient bed with personal settings.
Stationary nurse’s station next to door.
Interactive tablet to contact nurse, order food, etc.

Creating a space that embodies the organic movement and gathering of people within a space. The hotel should include proposed interaction with the guests as well as creating moments that tribute to the surrounding community.

Dining Room Dining Room This space was made to be reserved for dinner parties as well as being able to be a casual lunch place during the day. The south wall is a movable wall system that can open or close depending on the time of day or weather.
