We have enriched our services, offering bespoke furniture, conceptualised interior projects, advisory and styling.

Koukoutsi [ku-kú-tsi] noun

the word that means pip in Greek - our main component

how a humble material can be the base of sturdy new creations In all Mediterranean regions, olives are fundamental to production, economic activity, nutrition, and natural wealth. Our island, Lesvos in Greece, with approximately 11 million olive trees, is essentially an olive grove itself. Thus, the birth of koukoutsi ecomaterial.

Our philosophy is shaped according to our values, that aesthetics and sustainability should serve modern design. Consequently, we came up with the “koukoutsi” material that resembles to a gold terrazzo motif and constitutes a unique, eco-friendly manufacturing option.

koukoutsi eco-material “Koukoutsi” is a unique innovative material made primarily from the olive bio waste left over after oil production.

Koukoutsi eco-material can be used to manufacture furniture, and objects, and to coat surfaces and spaces, small or large, such as floors, walls, doors, cupboards and other furniture. Its durability, water resistance and easy application make it the perfect choice for indoor and outdoor spaces.

This past year, we have been testing the borders of our creativity, using koukoutsi eco-material in custom-made constructions, in coordination with our clients and cooperators’ aspirations. Coming up with conceptualized projects has pushed us forward to a new path, creating modern pieces of furniture and unique installations.

throwback to our beginning..

Koukos de Lab’s journey began in October 2020 along with its flagship project, “Lesvos Bench” which is basically the sitting bench of all Greek islands, now made from the new ecological product “koukoutsi ecomaterial”.

The idea travelled to the 2020 London Biennale under the title “Design in an Age of Crisis” and marked the beginning of a steady upward path. Since then, Koukos de Lab started a series of new creations based on the use of this material, following a fresh perspective on design.

new releases We appreciate that our tradition is the foundation on which we step to “fly” into the modern era. Since this first step was climbed, Koukos de Lab has moved forward with the development of a new style, based on minimalism and functionalism combined with the experimentation of different forms.

Made from koukoutsi eco-material, it features a unique blend of dark and light cores.
