Koukos de Lab new releases: starting from a small village in Lesvos, Greece, initiating a unique European presence.
Having lived in a fertile land, where the olive is the basis of production, economic activity, nutrition, and natural wealth of Lesvos, and motivated by our ecological feeling, we established the olive pip as a furniture manufacturing material. Three years later, we continue to design new, ergonomic, durable, and aesthetically pleasing products.

“koukoutsi” is a unique innovative material whose basic ingredient is the olive bio waste left behind when olive oil production is over.
Koukoutsi, actually means pip in Greek and as the main component, we named our material after it.
The cornerstone of our inspiration was Lesvos Island, the biggest olive grove globally.
Driven by our moto that aesthetics and sustainability should serve modern design we came up with the “koukoutsi” material that resembles to a gold terrazzo motif.
our roots
This rough land in the Mediterranean, where people are still connected with nature and tradition, was our inspiration and the driving force that emotionally led us to choose the secluded village as the base for our new venture. A feeling driven by childhood memories in the motherland made us disregard uncertainty and overpass obstacles.
throwback to our beginning..
Specifically, the journey of Koukos de Lab began in October 2020, when Irini Moutsoyiannis and Christos Ververis invented a new original technique that would revive the tradition of the island from which they originated, and at the same time would constitute a ground-breaking ecological proposal in the field of interior design The sitting bench of Mytilene - "Lesvos Bench"made from the new ecological product “koukoutsi eco-material” derived from the olive pip, was embraced by a wide audience
The idea traveled to the 2020 London Biennale under the title “Design in an Age of Crisis” and marked the beginning of a steady upward path. Since then, we started a series of new creations based on the use of this material, following a fresh perspective on design.

Since the launch of the "Lesvos Bench" and the establishment of “Koukos de Lab”, which is a renovated space that used to function as a traditional coffee shop, we recognize that our tradition is the foundation on which we step to "fly" into the modern era.
We crafted new original creations based on traditional design and launched new products that can serve both indoor and outdoor spaces The primary olive core material has properties of strength, easy application, and is waterproof. The "Coffee Table", the "Lesvos Stool", all the new products and our ability to design spaces covered with our materials, are in accordance with the air of our modern times and spring from the feeling of respect and love for our land.

Irene, the managing director and co-founder of Koukos de Lab, works to ensure that projects are developed and delivered to their full potential With a background in economics, marketing, and Young Entrepreneurship At Koukos de Lab, she leverages her experience and her high aesthetics to create tailor-made client experiences and project management processes
Christos is one of the founding partners at Koukos de Lab with experience as an Interior architect, Product, and Furniture Designer Trained at both The University of West Attica and Birmingham City University, Christos mixes design and sustainable thinking with the conceptual thoughts and visions that bring creative projects to life
Our mantra revolves around the idea that everything we design should respect nature and we could not have found a better place to accomplish this than this small village.
