Knotted Craft store, located in Naples, Florida, offers product as well as a meeting space to craft-lovers. Specializing in three main crafts, Knotted offers products in knitting, crochet, and quilting. The building site sits on a busy corner of an upscale shopping center in the heart of Naples. This corner allows two facades to display local crafters work as well as advertise the possibilities to be made with the products inside. The multi- use workshop offers a space for customers to host social clubs centered around their crafts. In these they can learn from each other and create a community rooted at Knotted. Employees are also able to teach in the space and grow the crafting community of Naples.

Concept Inspired by the same materials, Knotted derives its form from the same crafts it sells. The parti is a winding line that mimics the way string is woven.

The parti takes form within the ceiling as a lighting element.

Workshop This is a multi- use space designed to form community around Knotted. The furniture selection further pushes this idea of a transformable space. The tables are sit-tostand for all different crafts and seats for different postures. The curtain that encloses the room brings a sense of soft architecture to the space that is otherwise open.

Kompan, founded in Belgium by sculptor Tom Lindhardt, is a leading company in designing and producing playground equipment. For my first graduate level studio project, we were tasked with designing a multi level office space for a company of our choice. I chose Kompan because of the possibilities of creating a playful space for working adults. Located in the heart of downtown St. Louis, the office achieves this idea of playfulness through the integration of playground equipment throughout. By combining work with play the space transforms into a collaborative and multi functional environment for over 100 employees.

Concept Using the playground equipment within the office spaces helps to break up the monotony of everyday work life. This idea of playfulness is pushed further through the use of primary pops of color.

Ground Floor Primary Space The first floor staircase is designed to be a center for gathering. It features seating in a free flowing form as well as landscaping. Underneath, this staircase houses the primary conference room.

For this studio project we were tasked with designing the interior of the coffee shop shell that we modeled for our Digital Applications Course. The coffee shop had additional spaces including a kitchen, activity space, and two bathrooms. The shop was based off of a memory and our client was the Alzheimer’s society. The memory I chose was from my vacation to Michigan one summer, which influenced my design entirely.

Covid 19 has effected many aspects of college life, including many social and academic areas. The Student Farm Club at Kansas State is no exception to this. The club is responsible for a patch of land located along Tuttle Creek, about 30 minutes outside of Manhattan. On their farm land, there is a need for a multi-use space to rebuild their community. Co-Action addresses their needs and provides a versatile building for Farm Club events and activities.

By utilizing window lighting, sun heating, and maximizing views, the barn begins to work with the landscape.

Groove, a collector’s coffee table, is designed after the Scandinavian Modern Movement and intended for a young family. The central focus of the design as the name (Groove) celebrates are the ridges that run lengthwise on the top of the table. These grooves are intended to give the table a texture that is welcoming to the user. The grooves invites hands as well as coffee cups, magazines, etc. The rounded corners that repeat throughout the design are common in this movements style. Overall, Groove combines minimalism with peaks of interest to engage the user.

Take is designed to be a play table for children of all ages. The design is playful in nature and features rounded edges and soft corners. The forms are distinct and connect in unexpected ways. The handle is there to give an easy-grab to hands of all sizes weather you are picking up the table or dragging it across the room.

The vibrant blue color is chosen to appeal to younger children and is a fun addition to any space.

The Wassily Chair marked the beginning of a new era in modern furniture with a design that maintains a progressive look even today. The goal of this project was to model the existing chair and then create a scene to display it. The beginning of this project consisted of creating color and materiality pallets, as well as finding inspiration images. A variety of angles were explored in creating the poster in order to visually read well for the viewer.

DESIGNED BY MARCELBREUER IN 1925, THE WASSILY HAS BECOME A REPRESENTATION FOR HOW MODERN DESIGN CAN BE APPLIED TO EVERYDAY OBJECTS. IT WAS FIRST MANUFACTURED BY THONET, A GERMAN-AUSTRIAN FURNITURE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS AVAILABLE IN A FOLDING AND NON-FOLDING VERSION. AFTER WWII, GAVINA PICKED UP THE LICENSE, AND THE CHIAR HAS BEEN MASS PRODUCED EVER SINCE. THE CHAIR WAS INSPIRED

BY A BICYCLE FRAME AND IS MADE OF CURVING TUBES OF STEEL AND LEATHER STRAPS.
