Ana Repezza é a nova presidente da CropLife Brasil Ana Repezza is the new President of CropLife Brasil
With more than 25 years of experience in foreign trade and institutional relations, Ana Repezza has assumed the presidency of CropLife Brasil with the mission of strengthening institutional dialogue, advancing regulatory topics, and expanding the sector’s presence in global debates on agricultural innovation. Having worked at CAMEX and ApexBrasil, she also brings extensive experience in trade policy and international promotion. During a visit to Koppert on August 4th, the executive highlighted the maturity of the biologicals market in Brazil and the company’s strategic role in this scenario. For Biojournal, Repezza spoke about regulatory challenges, bioinputs, the Renera project, and Brazil’s potential as a global reference in tropical agriculture.
4
Biojournal — In your view, have bioinputs ceased to be a trend, or are we still living through this transition? Ana Repezza: They have ceased to be a trend and have become part of the reality of Brazilian tropical agriculture. Data from CropData, the CLB portal, show: in 2025, the market reached R$ 6.2 billion, the highest level in the historical series, and the treated area reached 194 million hectares, a growth of more than 28%. I see a very great opportunity in the coming years, both in expanding domestic adoption and in Brazil’s capacity to develop and internationalize technologies for other tropical climate countries. We have science, biodiversity, innovative companies, and scale. The next step is to connect these assets and transform this experience into solutions that can also be taken to the world.
BioJournal | Year 13 | Issue 02 | QUARTERLY 2026
BJ — What still needs to advance to accelerate the development of new biological technologies in Brazil? A.R.: Brazil already possesses a relevant scientific base. The challenge is to create conditions for this knowledge to be transformed into solutions available to the producer. For this, we need a predictable regulatory environment, legal certainty, and clear rules. The regulation of the Legal Framework [Law No. 15,070/2024] is an important step, and CropLife has already presented technical contributions to the draft decree. It is also fundamental to strengthen the technical capacity of the bodies responsible for registration — innovation advances at a very high speed, and regulatory processes need to keep up with this dynamic without renouncing scientific rigor.
BJ — Brazil has the potential to become a world reference in biologicals. What will be decisive for transforming this potential into leadership? A.R.: Brazil is already a protagonist due to the scale of its production and the knowledge accumulated in tropical agriculture. To transform this into global leadership, we need to participate more actively in international discussions and show that Brazil is not just a large consumer of technologies, but also a developer of solutions. One example is Renera — Brazilian Bioinputs Hub,
BJ — What still needs to evolve to expand the use of biological solutions by producers? A.R.: Expansion needs to come accompanied by knowledge and appropriate use. It is not enough to make a product available; it is necessary to ensure that the producer has information to understand when, how, and in which situations that solution should be used. Awareness, training, and technical assistance are fundamental. CropLife’s commitment is to contribute to the correct and safe use of technologies, based on agronomic recommendation, diagnosis, and best practices. Another point is to expand access to reliable information — especially in a sector that is often the target of misguided perceptions. CropData, our data portal, is an important initiative in this sense, because it gathers evidence-based indicators to qualify the debate.
A.R.: What catches the attention is realizing how the Brazilian biologicals market stopped being a future bet and started to integrate, concretely, the producers’ management strategies. Companies like Koppert contribute by investing in innovation, developing solutions adapted to the needs of the field, and expanding knowledge about the use of biological technologies. This movement helps to strengthen the entire ecosystem, because it stimulates research, development, training, and producer confidence. For me, this is one of the most important aspects of the evolution of bioinputs in Brazil: we are building a market where industry, science, producers, and institutions work in an increasingly connected way. Maturity lies precisely in this ability to transform innovation into applicable, safe, and efficient solutions for the reality of tropical agriculture.
a joint initiative between CropLife and ApexBrasil, which was born to position Brazil as a protagonist in the export of agricultural technology. I believe the great opportunity lies in consolidating Renera as a connection platform for the Brazilian bioinputs ecosystem with the world. BJ — During your visit to
Koppert, what caught your attention the most? And how do companies like Koppert contribute to the sector’s maturity?

Koppert Experience 2026: The Macan® season Climate, economy, innovation, and a product launch that promises to be a game-changer for biological management. The 4th season of the Koppert Experience brought all of this together on a single stage. With editions in Chapada dos Guimarães (MT) and Palmas (TO), the event traveled through the heart of Brazilian agribusiness to introduce Macan® to the regions, the fungicide that enters the field as the “Number 10”, the star player who decides the match in the first plays.
Beyond the product, the first editions of this season showed that the Koppert Experience continues to be one of the main meeting points where science is translated into practice. With the presence of specialists, guests, and company leaders, clients and partners participated in an intense full day of debates, roundtables, and high-level networking.
Climate in the spotlight: Super El Niño and the 26/27 Harvest If there is one variable that cannot be ignored, it is the climate. The editions brought a warning about the presence of a Super El Niño and its effects in the coming months. Meteorologist Nadiara Pereira was one of the event’s key guests. A presenter for the Climatempo channel, she enriched the debate with a more technical reading of the scenario, separating fact from speculation and pointing out the direct consequences for productivity and the economy. Nadiara was emphatic in her speech: anticipating climate challenges requires planning and technologies that increase the resilience of the production system – it is in this context that biological management gains even more strategic weight. Koppert Brazil’s Commercial Director for Grains and Fruits and Vegetables, Rodrigo Rodrigues, opened the event in Chapada dos Guimarães/MT

The match has begun: 20 years of research until the launch of Macan® If the first block of the Koppert Experience was about diagnosis and strategy, the second brought the big reveal. The new fungicide Macan®, which inaugurates a new phase for the company and for agribusiness, that of more robust biological products with results superior to chemical solutions in various crops. Macan® is not just another product in the portfolio. It is the result of 20 years of research and global work between scientists and specialists from the Koppert group, built to respond to current management challenges with performance and consistency. The “Number 10” campaign – which coincided with the pre-World Cup period – accurately translated the essence of the new product: the one that enters the field to solve, delivering results right from the first applications. The technology was presented to the regional offices by Marcelino Brito, Koppert’s Agronomic and Market Development Manager, during the panel

“Applied Biological Engineering: The New Command of Protection in Soybeans”. An exclusive video about the mode of action was broadcast to the audience. To reinforce the technical context, the Chapada edition brought Marcelo Madalosso, a PhD in Agronomy and specialist in Phytopathology from UFSM, with a reflection on “the cost of doing more of the same” and the new scenario of soybean diseases. In Palmas, it was the turn of João Ascari, research director at Solo Norte, to address the same challenge from the perspective of the expansion of the agricultural frontier in Tocantins. Koppert Experience made it clear that, starting with Macan®, biologicals move from a supporting role to a starring role in agricultural management. And so, Koppert enters the 26/27 harvest with boldness, consistency, and the conviction of delivering real results on the biggest field in the world. After all, that is what being Giant by Nature is all about!

Biologicals market projects growth of double digits for the next season Gustavo Herrmann, CEO da Koppert Brasil, participou do evento
The kickoff for the 26/27 Season has been given. On July 20, Datagro officially opened the soy, corn, and cotton season, with the participation of CEO Gustavo Herrmann and the Commercial Director of Grains and Fruits and Vegetables of Koppert Brazil, Rodrigo Rodrigues, in Goiânia (GO). Even in the face of challenges such as climate instability, political changes, and credit restrictions in the field, the prospects for the biological solutions market remain optimistic. Data from CropData, from CropLife Brazil, indicated 15% growth in the area treated with bioinputs during the off-season, reinforcing the consolidation of these technologies in Brazilian agriculture. For the next season, Koppert projects expansion exceeding 20%, driven by the increased adoption of bioinputs and the gradual replacement of chemical pesticides. According to Gustavo Herrmann, CEO of Koppert Brazil, producers have increasingly sought
solutions that combine productive efficiency, profitability, and sustainability. Bioinsecticides are pointed out as the main vector for the sector’s growth, driven by pest control in the off-season corn crop. For Koppert’s Strategic Marketing Manager, Christian Menegatti, the segment of insecticides against caterpillars in cereals is expected to grow above 60% in the next season.
Season highlights Bioinsecticides and biofungicides are expected to lead the sector’s growth. To meet demand, Koppert has strengthened its portfolio with recent launches, such as Buick Evo® (SfMNPV), Macan® (Bacillus velezensis CECT8237) and Trichodermil® FS (Trichoderma asperelloides 1306), expanding the biological management options for different crops. Koppert’s Strategic Marketing Manager, Christian Menegatti, points out that the segment of insecticides against caterpillars in cereals is expected to grow above 60% in the next season.
International expansion The prospects also extend beyond Brazilian borders. Through the Renera project, carried out in partnership with CropLife Brazil and ApexBrasil, the company contributes to bringing the experience and technology developed in Brazil to other countries in Latin America. Present in the country since 2011, Koppert has a relevant role in the expansion of biological control and is among the ten most innovative companies in Brazilian agribusiness, according to the Valor Inovação Award. With global operations, the company remains committed to offering solutions that unite productivity, innovation, and sustainability for increasingly efficient agriculture.

KAI: Koppert’s technical knowledge in your hand Some say that artificial intelligence (AI) will replace human knowledge. At Koppert, it has come to expand boundaries, putting decades of experience in the palm of the hand of those who are in the field. KAI (Koppert Agent – Powered by AI) was born from a simple yet powerful perception: to centralize and make accessible all of the company’s expertise which, until then, was distributed across systems, departments, and specialists – which often made the search for answers time-consuming. Although compatibility consultation could already be done through an application, it seemed not to be enough to meet the producer’s needs. The idea was to take this and other services to WhatsApp. And the leap was immediate! By incorporating AI into the new system, the process gained agility, allowing clients and partners to access technical information and compatibility evaluations in seconds, 24 hours a day! The new platform was presented to the public in May 2026, during the Koppert Sales Convention, and has been used gradually by clients and partners with access enabled by technical consultants.
16
Constant expansion Behind this apparent simplicity, there is robust engineering. KAI integrates data from corporate systems with content maintained by the Market Development and R&D teams. The AI captures information exclusively from this knowledge base, ensuring the reliability of the answers. If a combination or data is not yet available, the platform allows the user to forward their request for analysis by the responsible team. Only after validation by specialists does the data become part of the database. “AI facilitates conversation and access to information, but the trust in the answers comes from Koppert’s technical knowledge,” says Felipe Lacerda, IT manager at Koppert Brazil. The next steps include an RRC module for end-toend incident tracking and the expansion of batch traceability.

Koppert announces research into the world’s first biological herbicide
Danilo Pedrazzoli, CEO at Koppert Brazil
Koppert Brazil shook up the biological market by announcing the start of research for a biological herbicide unprecedented in the global market. Based on a fungus kept confidential by patent clauses, the project is born with a clear ambition: to occupy a space that, to this day, belongs entirely to agrochemicals. The topic was highlighted on the AGFeed portal and also replicated by CNN. The numbers explain the challenge. The Brazilian crop protection market exceeded 102 billion BRL in 2025, of which about 47 billion BRL correspond to herbicides — the largest slice, ahead of fungicides and insecticides. Biologicals, in turn, surpassed 6.2 billion BRL, with 194 million hectares treated. However, in terms of volume, weed control remains without a biological response. The research is conducted at SPARCBio (São
18
Paulo Advanced Research Center for Biological Control), in Piracicaba (SP), with 74 researchers, plus partnerships with UFV (Federal University of Viçosa), UFU (Federal University of Uberlândia), Wageningen University (Netherlands), and the company’s headquarters.
pipeline that is quite extensive, it is very difficult to say when these technologies will specifically reach the market”. To gauge the journey, just look at Macan — a fungicide launched this year, researched since 2002. Twenty-three years of science to reach the field.
The bet is on specific and selective products, not generic desiccants. As Danilo Pedrazzoli, CEO of Koppert Brazil, explains: “If it replaces glyphosate by killing everything, it will also kill the soybeans”. The proposal is not to replace the chemical, but to open an unprecedented front of biological control on defined targets. In principle, the targets in focus are horseweed and sourgrass in crops.
When ready, the bioherbicide should integrate into the manufacturing process of Koppert’s new industrial units in Brazil, planned for 2028, along with other innovations already announced.
Regarding the timeline, Pedrazzoli is cautious: “Since we are working with a

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Operational excellence: Koppert strengthens culture of continuous improvement in the industry
Employees participate in training on operational excellence methodologies, strengthening the culture of continuous improvement in industrial units
The pursuit of continuous improvement has always been present in the day-today operations at Koppert. Now, this journey gains a dedicated structure, capable of transforming ad hoc initiatives into a culture consolidated in operational excellence. Created in 2024, the Continuous Improvement area has the mission of supporting industrial units in identifying opportunities, standardizing processes, and disseminating methodologies that drive operational performance. For Juliana Longatto, Production Manager at Koppert Brazil, the goal goes
20
beyond the implementation of tools and methodologies. “We want operational excellence to be part of our daily lives. More than working on specific projects, we seek to develop a culture in which continuous improvement is present in the teams’ routine and contributes to the sustainable growth of the operation,” she explains. More assertive decisions – Another important advance in this journey is the use of tools that allow for more precise monitoring of operational performance. With indicators monitored in real time, teams can identify opportunities, analyze
deviations, and direct efforts toward actions that bring effective gains in productivity, quality, and efficiency. Longatto emphasizes that the visibility of data also contributes to more strategic process management, supporting decision-making with a focus on excellence, strengthening the commitment to continuous improvement. The key element – If technology provides information, it is people who transform data into results. For this reason, one of the area’s priorities has been the development of leadership and teams
BioJournal | Year 13 | Issue 02 | QUARTERLY 2026
through training* focused on recognized methodologies of operational excellence [see chart]. The training sessions seek to expand technical knowledge, strengthen the culture of continuous improvement, and form multipliers capable of identifying opportunities and leading projects within their areas of operation. According to Jonas Barbalho, leader of Processes and Continuous Improvement, the evolution of processes depends directly on the
engagement of people. “Continuous improvement only happens when there is a well-defined standard. From there, we can identify opportunities, eliminate waste, and promote consistent advances that impact the entire operation,” he states. For him, more than just implementing tools, the proposal is to stimulate a mindset of permanent evolution, in which each employee recognizes themselves as an agent of transformation.
Sustainability – The gains generated by continuous improvement go beyond performance indicators. The reduction of waste, better use of resources, and process optimization contribute to more sustainable operations, demonstrating how efficiency and responsibility walk side-by-side in Koppert’s day-to-day operations.
5S Program advances at Unifor with a pilot project Among the initiatives conducted by the Continuous Improvement area, the implementation of the 5S Program has gained prominence this year. Unifor was chosen to receive the pilot project for the methodology, which aims to strengthen practices of organization, cleaning, standardization, and discipline in the workplace. The choice was no accident: “All the final product portfolio of microbiologics comes out of there. It is what has the greatest impact on the business,” explains Longatto. The goal is to conclude the implementation of the 5S by December 2026 and carry out follow-up audits by April 2027. From 2027 onwards, the intention is to expand the program to the company’s other units.

Made by those who are in the field Beyond the numbers, the new model is changing the routine of those who operate drones in the field. Danilo Rodrigues, a pilot for Natutec®, was one of the first on the team to inaugurate the structure. “Before, we had some access limitations depending on terrain conditions. With the truck, travel became simpler and more agile,” he says. He also highlights the human gain: “It brought more safety and comfort to us.” Gabriel Rodrigues, a drone operator, points out practical improvements in logistics, also noticed by clients. “Battery
Standard and safety that differentiate The structure was developed in partnership with the Occupational Safety team at Koppert Brazil, with an elevated platform for pilots, an embedded power generation system, a spray mixture tank, reservoirs, and items focused on the wellbeing of the teams. Everything is in full compliance with NR 31.
charging became more agile and equipment handling more practical. [...] It is a model that draws attention for its benefits, and mills and producers are noticing this.”
For Luiz Gromboni, commercial manager at Natutec®, the project proves that efficiency and safety go hand in hand: “The results show that it is possible to scale operational capacity and offer better working conditions to the teams,” he says. In other words, the new work front for Natutec® by Koppert is here to stay!

Partnership comes to an end, but Roadster® and Stingray® continue
Ascophyllum nodosum, algae present in the Stingray® and Roadster® bioactivators
August came to an end with an announcement from Koppert to the market: the termination of the partnership with the Canadian firm Acadian SeaPlants Limited, by strategic decision of the parties. The active ingredient of the Roadster® and Stingray® solutions (algae extract-based bioactivators) was supplied by Acadian. The board reiterated, however, that the supply of the Stingray® and Roadster® brands is maintained for the current season and for the next cycles, given the results presented by the solutions over

the last six years – which made them a market benchmark. Koppert also informed that it foresees new launches and reinforced the continuity of customer service. The company also emphasized that the contract signed with Acadian prohibits the Canadian company from selling the same formulas directly to Koppert’s customers, whether they are farmers, resellers, or cooperatives. This rule remains in effect even after the end of the partnership and is subject to legal sanctions in case of non compliance.

Koppert dominates biological management in sugarcane and consolidates leadership in Brazilian agribusiness The biological market for sugarcane is undergoing a historic transformation, and Koppert is at the center of it. In the last harvest, the segment grew by 34%, moving 743 million BRL, with the treated area exceeding 13 million hectares — an advance of 38%. The data are from Kynetec/Farmtrak Sugarcane 2025, a global reference in market intelligence for agribusiness. In this context, Koppert accounts for 45% of the entire treated area (PAT) with biological solutions in the sugarcane crop, consolidating its leadership in the segment. Considering the total crop protection market (chemical and biological), Koppert achieved second place in treated area, excluding adjuvants and herbicides (a segment in which it does not yet operate).
Leadership in each management front Leadership is repeated in pest insect management. According to Kynetec, Koppert is responsible for 50% of the entire area treated with bioinsecticides in the crop and maintains significant participation in the biological control of the main phytosanitary challenges
of sugarcane, such as root spittlebug (58%), sugarcane borer (45%), and leaf spittlebug (42%). The company also reaches 75% participation in the management of Sphenophorus – practically three out of every four hectares treated go through Koppert. In soil management, the company leads in treated area. In foliar fungicides, it figures among the top three in the total market and maintains absolute leadership when considering only the biological segment. For Gustavo Herrmann, CEO of Koppert Brazil, the numbers reflect a change in level: “Biologicals are already part of the sugarcane production strategy, both for their efficiency and for their sustainability and economic viability. And Koppert has been actively contributing to this process,” he concludes.
