1 A Pair of 18th Century Neo-Classical Sauce Tureens This pair of sauce tureens are extraordinary in that they can be traced in the Day Book (1779-81) of the Matthew Boulton Ledgers, page 419, in the Birmingham central Library as part of a large order made by William Barrow. They fall into the rare group of hand-crafted unique commissions created in the early days of the Birmingham workshops. Birmingham, 1780 Maker’s mark of Matthew Boulton & John Fothergill. 3 A George III Claret Jug This claret jug has been specially selected not only as a fine work by one of the most renowned English Silversmiths, Paul Storr, but also for its unique design that showcases the Regency interpretation of Classical Antiquity in a sleek and sophisticated manner. 5 A Large Dish Marked Rundell, Bridge and Rundell This meat dish is an incredibly rare example of a piece struck with the mark of Rundell, Bridge & Rundell; very few surviving pieces are known to have this mark – pictured below. The simplicity of the dish versus the intricacy of the reed and tie, and grape and vine border is truly striking. 7 An Early Victorian Silver-Gilt Mounted Ewer and Basin To find a complete set of a ewer and basin is a rarity in itself, to find a set comprising of silver-gilt mounted glass, still with the original glass intact is an even rarer treasure. The fluidity of this object designed to pour and hold water is accentuated by the superb cast and chased lilies. The bowl itself designed to hold flower petals to scent the water. Interestingly, George Fox was Paul Storr’s shop manager, working with the firm for thirty-five years. There is no doubt that Fox himself would have been inspired by Storr, who was not only a superb silversmith, he was also an incredibly astute businessman. 12 A Paul Storr Tea and Coffee Set This superb melon shaped tea and coffee service typifies the naturalism one finds introduced at the start of William IV’s reign in 1830. The execution of stippling, asymmetrical scrolls and shells is so fine that it could only be the hand of Storr. The likelihood is that this set was made for a Scottish family as both finials on the tea and coffee pot are fabulous cast thistles. 16 A Superb Pair of Rococo-Revival Candlesticks This beautifully designed pair of silver-gilt candlesticks is exceptional not only for their extraordinary gauge but in the meticulous attention to detail shown in the various animals and insects depicted in amongst the fluid asymmetrical design. The crests are those of Duncan and Haldane, probably for Adam, Viscount Duncan (1812-1867), who succeeded his father as 2nd Earl of Camperdown of Lundie on 22 December 1859.
