In my work, black is not merely a color it is a concept, a void, an absolute. It is the space between existence and disappearance, where time dissolves and meaning is reconstructed. Through a minimalist yet visceral approach, I explore the perception of reality, the fragility of belief systems, and the remnants of the unseen.

The black delves into matter, absence, and transformation, using deeply pigmented surfaces, carbon textures, and sculptural interventions. I work with materials that hold memory and physicality charcoal, dead sea salt, meteorite dust elements that carry the weight of time itself. These textures are not passive; they react, absorb, and distort light, challenging the viewer’s cognitive engagement with the void.

Conceptually, my work questions what is hidden, what is erased, and what is left behind. In a world saturated with fleeting images and artificial narratives, I seek to create monuments of silence works that demand presence, stillness, and confrontation with the unknown.

Minimalist, yet charged with philosophical weight, my practice is a meditation on existence, faith, and entropy a dialogue between permanence and the inevitable dissolution of all things.

Oil paint and amber medium on circular shaped linen

The Portal Paintings merge painting, sculpture, and movement, exploring depth, perception, and spatial expansion. Inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s Anémic Cinéma (1926), I sought to create monumental precision a fusion of mathematical structure and meditative process.

By arranging circles in a logarithmic spiral progression and layering color gradations, these portals evoke infinite doorways dissolving into space. The circular format adds a sculptural quality, challenging the limits of two-dimensionality. Though highly calculated and meticulous, the process evolves into a hypnotic, trance-like state building depth without physical relief.

Since 2014, Portal Paintings have been exhibited internationally, entering private collections in Zurich, and Yarat (Azerbaijan).

"Intoxication and Inspirational (T) Errors - Part One - The Black Hole" by Konstantin Mindadze is a multimedia installation that functions as an epistemological field, transforming the viewer’s perception of knowledge, reality, and subjectivity. It operates at the intersection of European cultural traditions from the Renaissance to Modernism, presenting them as a performative, trans-aesthetic paradox of esoteric and exoteric knowledge.

At its core, the project explores the radical subjectivity of postmodern existence, challenging the legitimacy of truth and the mechanisms of historical and cultural totality. Drawing on Heidegger’s Gestell, Frankfurt School critiques, and Derrida’s Pharmakon, it constructs a meta-rational discourse where language, objects, and history blur into a chaotic yet structured epistemic game.

Through a series of audiovisual provocations, the installation immerses the viewer in a world where meaning dissolves, order collapses, and cognition becomes a process of existential struggle akin to a deconstructive, ontological transformation. It questions whether faith, knowledge, and media can create new realities beyond institutionalized frameworks, positioning itself as both an intoxicating spectacle and a postmodern enlightenment.

The installation’s sculptural elements serve as an epistemological terminal, where the living are metaphorically ‘killed’ and the dead resurrected into immortalized thought. It invokes docta ignorantia (Nicholas of Cusa) as a paradigm, inviting the audience to navigate a cognitive labyrinth where impossibility becomes the foundation of belief Ultimately, The Black Hole is a paradoxical audiovisual experience an intellectual and sensory intoxication, a slow-acting Pharmakon that confronts the spectator with the ecstasy and terror of knowledge, positioning entertainment as a space of epistemic and existential transgression.

In following video, at first glance, the androgynous catholic priest reads the Bible in Latin upon a real wolf inside a cathedral. This seemingly absurd situation with two extremes responds to the metaphors of instinctive and intellectual. The video stresses the main difference between faith and religion, which in turn are differentiated by fragmentary knowledge and misinterpretation. In some cases, it may lead to inadequacy and even aggressive behaviors. Video progresses like sort of artificial exorcism, reflecting indirectly on majority of corrupt religious institutions.

“Candy Inside?” - 2019 © Studio Konstantin Mindadze / glass, stainless steel construction, 300 liter of pigmented water, directional LED lights (4 units on single rail), 4 oxygen units, electric equipment and sound score in two parts

"Candy Inside?" is a stark reflection on environmental pollution, symbolizing the toxins we unknowingly consume. This installation urges action more green spaces, fewer emissions, real recycling efforts. Words and social media posts won’t save us; only change will.

Set in darkness, a transparent container reveals a shifting dark fluid evoking fear, resistance to the unknown, and society’s passive conformity. This work is an anti-fanfare manifesto, challenging blind obedience, shallow trends, and the fear of independent thought.

True art isn’t decoration it’s emotion, confrontation, and lasting significance.

P.S. The installation ran for one weekend only, opening on May 31st, 7 PM, with a National Geographic discussion on June 4th, 2019.

I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration in reviewing my portfolio. It is an honor to present my work to you, as I deeply admire MuHKA’s commitment to contemporary art, conceptual depth, and critical discourse.

My practice is rooted in conceptual minimalism, where materials, textures, and voids become a language for exploring the unseen, the forgotten, and the transcendent. Through my work, I aim to challenge perception, evoke presence, and provoke dialogue and I hope that this portfolio offers a space for such contemplation.

I would be truly grateful for the opportunity to further discuss my artistic vision, potential collaborations, or exhibition possibilities within MuHKA’s curatorial framework. Please feel free to reach out I would greatly value the chance to connect.

Thank you once again for your time and attention. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
