On the border

Tylicz – a small but charming village – lies on the border between the Beskid Sądecki and the Low Beskids, in a valley surrounded by mountains, crossed by the Mochnaczka and the Muszynka Streams. At present, it is famous for numerous ski stations, mineral water and legendary mofettas. It used to be the second most important town after Muszyna in the Muszyna State. At the time, it was called ‘Miastko’ and was even more important than Krynica. Nowadays, the Square is the only proof of its town character. Tylicz was granted town rights two times – and two times it lost them. If we want to have a rest from the hustle and bustle of Krynica, we should come to Tylicz. It is definitely a more peaceful place. There is a wooden Orthodox church and a Roman Catholic church. Both temples are sites of the Wooden Architecture Route.

Mofettas in Tylicz are a place worth visiting – during the time of PRL (Polish People’s Republic) algae were grown there which were to serve as condensed food for astronauts. Tylicz is also a place where we can have a sip of mineral waters or a starting point for trips into the mountains.

‘U Babci Mili’ Villa

Even though ‘U Babci Mili’ Villa (‘At Grandma’s Mila’ Villa) is located in the centre of Tylicz, it is surrounded by nature. This is a beautiful house which can accommodate approximately 20 guests in 2-, 3-, 4- person rooms with bathrooms. The villa is decorated with sculptures made by the host. It is surrounded by a big garden which is full of attractions. The host of ‘U Babci Mili’ Villa is a true enthusiast of the region and a Beskid guide. He has vast knowledge on the area and eagerly takes his guests for trips along the trails of the Beskids and shows them local historic sites. In winter, he organises sleigh rides to ‘Śwarny Hut’ where he entertains his guests with the sounds of his accordion and highlander tales.

A garden and a mini spa

The garden which surrounds the villa is full of attractions. One of its parts is a children's kingdom – there is a playground with a trampoline, a sand pit and garden houses. In the second part we will find a gazebo with deck chairs, swings, a garden swimming pool, garden chess, a barbecue site and a fire ring for small and big groups. There is also a quiet, roofed corner where one can relax in a mini sauna and a Russian banya. It is an extremely pleasant place for warm summer evenings.

Attractions

Apart from the big garden, guests who stay at the villa can take advantage of a multipurpose room with table tennis. They can also look for attractions outside the villa. The facility is situated in such a place that entertainment possibilities await visitors right behind its gate. In summer one may choose from numerous hiking and cycling trails. There is a horse stable in the vicinity as well. If you take a walk by a mountain stream, you can see the trout or the grayling. In autumn, forests are full of mushrooms, cowberriers and raspberries. In winter nearby hills serve as great spots for both alpine and cross-country skiing or sledding (sleds can be borrowed from the hosts). Sleigh rides are an excellent winter attraction – especially the ones crowned with a campfire with a roasted pig. In spring, slopes are full of colourful flowers and aromatic herbs. The area also abounds in wooden architecture – Lemko Orthodox churches are especially interesting. Fans of history will be delighted with ‘the Trail of Bar Confederates’ which is 12 km long. Those who came to Tylicz in order to improve their health will find mineral water springs.

Ebikes

The villa offers modern ebikes for rent – guests have 10 of them at their disposal so they can go for an unforgettable cycling trip with their whole family or a group of friends. Such equipment gives us a chance to reach higher points than by traditional bike and see breathtaking views.

Meals are definitely the best part of staying at ‘U Babci Mili’. The hostess is a talented cook who uses products grown in her own garden. Hence, the dishes are local, healthy, full of flavour and aromatic. The speciality of the place are regional dishes such as maszkatule, lamb, freckled dumplings, barberry served with ribs or lard with caraway seeds. For dessert you will always get homemade cakes with seasonal fruit. Breakfasts, dinners and suppers are served in a bright dining room which is decorated with Highlander accents and sculptures. There is a mini brine graduation tower thanks to which we can breathe in healthy, saturated with beneficial elements, air.

Highlander feasts

Wooden, half-covered hut on a clearing surrounded by the hills and forests of the Beskid Sądecki is a place where the best feasts in the region take place. At night you will see the starry sky which, irrespective of the season, creates an amazing atmosphere. The hut is the destination of sleigh rides in winter or carriage rides in other seasons. We can organise any celebration there – a birthday party, a New Year’s Eve party, a wedding after-party or a business retreat. Each of them will have a wonderful setting.

There is a fire ring with a grill grate where we can roast sausages and other grilled delicacies including the whole pig. There is also a bar where the best beverages, including Highlander ones, are served. A band stage and dance floor are also available. The hosts of ‘U Babci Mili’ Villa and Śwarny Hut serve the best regional dishes and provide a Highlander setting for events – music, Highlander storytelling and dances!

An oasis of tranquillity

In Pułaski Street, under 2km from ‘U Babci Mili’ Villa and only 5 km from the centre of Krynica-Zdrój, right next to Śwarny Hut, in a green and peaceful place, Bradowiec Apartments are located. It is an ideal place for those who value silence and the proximity of nature. From the windows, magnificent views of the Beskid forests and Bradowiec Clearing stretch. The apartments are comfortable and well-equipped. The facility is close to mountain trails, ski stations and historic wooden Orthodox churches. Tylicz and Krynica-Zdrój tempt with their attractions and a spa climate.

There is a covered mini spa in the garden which consists of a Russian banya and an outside sauna. Relaxation which one can experience in the spa is boosted with beautiful scenery, calming nature and mountain air.
