Tell us about yourself

I’m Zainab as you know, I’m actually a very shy person but people don’t know (laughs)

What kind of environment did you grow up in?

It was cool. We were not really allowed to go out, everything we needed was always provided. We didn’t really have social lives except in school.

How would you describe your personality?

I’m playful, a goal getter, and when I need something, I go for it.

What attributes do you think you have?

If I need to get something done, I do it, no excuses. I always like to leave my mark wherever I go. I don’t want to be seen as part of the crowd. I like to stand out.

What’s your favourite book?

I’m not sure I have a favourite book, but I can state my favourite authors. I like the woman who wrote Harry Potter. I can’t count how many times I’ve read that book. I like Sandra Bank, I like Sydney Sheldon, she’s like my best.

You don’t have any Nigerian Author?

Oh sorry, I like Chimamanda, her best book for me is Purple Hibiscus, after that you can say Americanah. Purple hibiscus takes you to your childhood and it’s very relatable. Yea, but for me, the Harry Potter writer, J.K Rowling comes first.

What’s your style?

Comfortable. As long as I’m comfortable in what I’m wearing, I’m good.

If you could learn a skill now, what skill would that be?

It could be graphics or Tech. I also love interior designs; I’d like to learn the proper design, not just what we do here.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?

Hearing I’m intelligent, or I’m smart. (Smiles)

What’s your typical day like?

Wake up in the morning, get set for work, get to work. When I get to work, I’d disturb my fellow HR (laughs). I disturb Tolu and Moses, then when it’s 8, I come back, maybe take coffee and start work. Then during lunch break, I disturb people again, do my safety checks around, and then go home.

How do you cope with stress?

I read. Reading allows you to get into the mind of the author, so you’re not in your own situation. So when I’m reading something like Harry Potter, my mind is inside the book, I’m imagining…

Would you rather say something to someone physically, send a text or call?

It depends on the mood but I think I’m more expressive with chats.

What do you do for fun?

(Sighs) Fun for me is still reading, or… I have people that I like to be with, just talk and sit with, friends. We can go out sometimes.

Looking back, is there anything you wish you could have done differently?

Maybe, I would have taken an earlier interest in health and safety. If I had the chance to switch, let’s say 4 years ago, I didn’t really see it as something really popular.

Let’s assume rapture is tomorrow, what would you do differently today?

I think I’ll still be me. I’ll do whatever I want to do, as long as I’m good and not hurting anybody.
