‘The Paths Ahead: A KTJ Farewell’

for KTJ by

Two paths diverge at the end of the KTJ drive, One leads you out, where your hopes will thrive. With KTJ behind you, dreams in your sight, You're ready to soar, to reach new heights

You’ve wandered these halls, with tablets in hand, Learned all you could, now take your stand. The future beckons with a whispering call, It’s time to leave, but you’ll cherish it all.

You’ll miss the house singing, those harmonious days, Voices united in a beautiful blaze.

The laughter, the spirit, the songs that were sung, Echoes of memories of when you were young.

You’ve faced the trials, the tests, the late-night dread, But now new challenges lie just ahead. With courage and wisdom, take the step bold, For university is a story yet to be told.

Oh, the places you’ll go, the things you’ll see, The knowledge you’ll gain, the person you’ll be.

The friendships you’ll forge, the memories you’ll weave, All starting now, as you take your leave.

And one day, years from hence, with a reflective smile, You’ll look back at KTJ, every cross-country mile. Two paths diverged, and you took the one ahead, With confidence, hope, and a future widespread.

So here’s our farewell, as you journey anew, With pride in our hearts, we believe in you.

May your paths be bright, your spirit strong, For at KTJ, you’ll always belong.

Farewell from the Head of Sixth Form, Emma Davidson

It’s that time of year again which fills the whole of the Sixth Form team with mixed emotions. We’ve been so immersed in your journeys for the last two years - some of you since primary school even, but now it’s time for us to hand the baton over. We have to let go and step back, as do your parents and houseparents, but we will continue to take pleasure in the excitement and hope that we all feel for the adventures on which you are about to embark.

We hope that you are imbued with the KTJ values so that they continue to guide you on a path towards being good people. We hope that you’ll carry on your passion for creatively and enthusiastically contributing to your community. We hope you’ll be responsible and committed, and that you will always try your best wherever you are and whatever you’re doing. We hope that you’ll have the courage to make the most of your opportunities, and the resilience to withstand the inevitable knocks. We hope that you’ll look after each other when needed the most - the reassurance of a KTJ friend knowing and understanding you like no other in the world no matter what time and distance has separated you. But most of all, we hope that you’ll be safe and happy.

We are so excited to see what wonderful things you’ll achieve in the most diverse and unexpected ways. You’ve already given us so much joy in being able to share in your successes and moments of happiness and triumph. We know we are privileged to have such an amazing group of students. Remember to join the alumni (QR code below!) and keep the happy news flowing!!

KTJ Class of 2024

Farewell from the Head of Boarding, Shir-Ning

We, the graduating cohort of 2024, sit here today, overwhelmed with a mixture of emotions cultivated over the last 13 years of high school: pride, nostalgia, and perhaps a touch of apprehension for the future. The lack of familiarity awaiting us beyond the comfort of KTJ’s sprawling campus is daunting, but the thrill of experiencing more of this world is exhilarating.

The extraordinary talents, resilience, and dedication that define our graduating class have shined, as evident through the incredible academic achievements of this batch of intelligent and diligent graduates. From long hours spent in the Arc to prepare for exams, to early morning runs on the red track to train for the school teams, we have consistently demonstrated our unwavering commitment to excellence.

But beyond exam results or university destinations, it is our collective spirit of camaraderie and support that truly sets us apart. Whether cheering on our peers at house events including House Basketball or House Cross Country, or working together to make sure everyone sings in tune during House Singing, we have formed bonds that will endure long after we leave these school walls. The boarding community of KTJ has not only helped to teach students independence and collaboration, but it has also grown into one big family, a home we know we can always return to when we feel lost.

Today signifies a new beginning after years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination - one filled with endless possibilities and opportunities waiting to be seized. As we bid farewell to this chapter of our lives, let us not forget to express our gratitude to those who have supported us along the way - our families, teachers, house staff, and friends. Their guidance, encouragement, and unwavering belief in our potential have helped shape us into the individuals we are today.

As we step out into the world, we shall carry with us the lessons we have learned here, the friendships we have forged, and the memories we will cherish forever. Leaving KTJ, we will continue to pave our own roads to success while giving our best.

Farewell from Head Prefects, Amalina and

Iyad

The KTJ class of 2024 enters a world that is quickly changing and requires more than knowledge alone. The quiet boundaries of Mantin has served us as fertile ground to prosper into young adults, equipt with the skills, ethos and passion to contribute to the world around us.

This year has truly set a benchmark for collaboration in KTJ Student Leadership. Across the schools, various groups have joined forces to work towards projects and fun activities that make up life at KTJ. This includes KTJ Spartans, Neurodiversity Week and Multi-cultural Weekend. By strengthening the bonds between student groups, we have forged a community that thrives on diversity and is fueled by a shared passion for doing the best for our community.

Through these experiences and opportunities, KTJ has transformed us into global citizens; not only with the ability reflect on world events and current issues but also how our own actions impact them. KTJ has shaped us into young adults prepared with the skills to be inquisitive, understanding and adaptable as we enter the next stages of our lives.

We must acknowledge that we have reached this milestone moment through the collective efforts and unwavering support of our families and the KTJ community. As we embark on the next phase of our journey, let us continue to uphold the spirit of Integrity, Empathy and Mutual Respect that KTJ has instilled in us. Today we celebrate not only the graduating students but also the dedication from parents, teachers and other members of staff that it took to get us here. To quote Helen Keller, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”
