Academic Year 2025-26: Term 1
Dear Students
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the latest edition of the Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar Co-Curricular Programme Magazine Inside, you will find a comprehensive guide to the wide range of activities on offer this year, as well as practical information about schedules, signup procedures, and the exciting opportunities for students this year
This magazine is designed to help you explore the many options available and make informed choices that reflect your interests and aspirations
At KTJ, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Participation in co-curricular activities is not just an enhancement to academic learning; it is a vital part of developing the whole person Through sport, music, drama, service and enrichment clubs, you will learn through experience valuable skills such as teamwork, leadership, resilience, and creativity - skills that will prepare you for success both in school and in life These experiences foster confidence, friendships, and a strong sense of community, ensuring enabling you to discover your passions and to reach your full potential
Staff at KTJ take an active role in the co-curricular programme and work hard to ensure the activities and clubs they facilitate are exciting and developmental for you
We expect all students to match this commitment and effort, as we know that the more you put into your CCAs, the more you will get from your whole school experience
Whether trying something new or developing existing talents, there is something here for everyone
Yours sincerely,
Mr Edward Richardson Director of Co-Curricular
When you sign up for CCA you will be able to see the day and time it is scheduled, and this will show in your personal calendar on SOCS. CCAs are scheduled into one of these slots:
07:00-09:00 13:15-14:25 16:30-17:30 17:30-18:30
CCAs take place across the school site. The location of each CCA will be included in the information provided at sign-up, and will also appear in your SOCS calendar
The great news is you can sign up for as many CCAs as you like, but you need to be responsible for managing a balance between your academic studies and other commitments.
Students in Forms 1 and 2 must sign up for at least 3 CCAs each week, 2 of which must be ‘Sport’ CCAs.
All other students must do at least 2 CCAs each week.
The majority of CCAs are free, but some specialist CCAs do have a charge to cover additional expenses such as transport, facilities or certification. You will be able to see which CCAs have an additional cost during sign-up, and this will be added to your account.
CCAs are organised and managed through the SOCS system, including the sign up process.
Students click on the ‘Pupil’ button to access the system using their school account details.
Parents can also access SOCS through Parent Portal.
When you are in the system, CCAs are organised by days and timeslots. You will only see the CCAs you are eligible for
For example, click on ‘Monday After School’ to see all the CCAs that take place on Mondays between 07:00 and 09:00.
Select the CCAs you would like to do in each slot, indicating your order of preference if there is more than one CCA in that list you are interested in.
You must select ‘No CCA’ in every timeslot - either as your last ‘preference’ or as the only choice from that group (or it will allocate you a CCA)
The system ensures a fair distribution of preferences, so will mostly get your first choice or be prioritised next time for that CCA.
WILL THERE BE SOMETHING OF INTEREST TO ME?
There is a huge range of CCAs to choose from, so we have grouped them into 7 broad categories:

Our co-curricular sports programme offers something for everyone, and I encourage every student to take part. Whether you want to enjoy an activity for fun, represent KTJ in competition, or push yourself to perform at the highest level, there is a place for you here
To make sure every student finds the right fit, our programme is built around three levels of participation:
