KTJ’s Graduation Ceremony
2022
A note from the Principal Dr Glenn Moodie It is a pleasure to welcome parents and relatives of our Upper Sixth students to Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar today for our first face-to-face Graduation in three years. It has been a challenging time for us all, but it has been especially challenging for young people around the world who have grown up amidst the restrictions of Covid-19. I have been impressed by the resilience and determination which our Upper Sixth students have shown in the face of the challenges of these last few years. They have responded and adapted, and they have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the process. We are proud of everything that they have achieved. Our Upper Sixth students are now ready to go off to the next stage, and as we wish them well, we know they are equipped to succeed and flourish in higher education and in their careers and lives beyond this. For the students, it is important to remember that though you are graduating from KTJ today, you will always remain a part of the School - this special place which helped to nurture you. Be proud of your time with us and make us proud in the future.

Final words from our Head Prefects Ashar Henry bin Faris Salim Davidson & Manesha Raveendrakumar
These last 2 years have been a trying time for many. Covid has tested us to the utmost of our strength. As we find ourselves today at graduation, entering a new world of opportunity-be it at university, in a gap year, or a job-we are also entering a world rebuilding from Covid with all the beauty of that fact. Despite all sayings, graduating from ‘Kolej’ is not the stepping stone to the next level but rather the junction at the end of our linear ‘Nai Talim’ road. On this day, we commemorate all our successes and failures, as a form, in our attempts at learning. We, as a form, have been able to prove ourselves through these testing times; our friendships have blossomed as expected but more importantly they have been altruistic. The beauty of a school like this is that it enables the rawest form of a person to be revealed; we have learnt to love the pretty and the ugly of each other. We hope that you take away the message of not straying away from your truest self and always choosing kindness over all else. More than that, we long to extend our selfless nature to every community we encounter; we all come from and return to the same soil. KTJ, or rather the incredible people we have met at KTJ, will stay in our hearts and minds for the rest of our days. We are confident that is true for every student graduating today. At KTJ, we do not only make friends, at KTJ we make family. Today, on the day of graduation, we depart from our home away from home and leave our families forged in the classrooms and boarding houses of KTJ - a truly melancholy fact that must be taken with all the joy we feel today.
