Master​ ​Planning Due:​ ​10/13/17 In​ ​this​ ​studio​ ​phase,​ ​we​ ​will​ ​take​ ​recommendations​ ​created​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Framework​ ​planning​ ​phase and​ ​test​ ​them​ ​at​ ​the​ ​master​ ​plan​ ​phase.​ ​In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​design​ ​study​ ​at​ ​a​ ​smaller​ ​scale,​ ​this phase​ ​will​ ​build​ ​your​ ​experience​ ​with​ ​urban​ ​design,​ ​programming,​ ​placemaking,​ ​and visualization.​ ​We​ ​will​ ​reference​ ​presentation​ ​techniques​ ​associated​ ​with​ ​the​ ​ULI​ ​Hines​ ​Student Design​ ​Competition. Deliverables Class​ ​study​ ​model​--chipboard/cardboard​ ​plus​ ​two​ ​(2)​ ​materials ● Full​ ​Study​ ​area​ ​with​ ​existing​ ​conditions​ ​at​ ​1”=100’-0” ● 10​ ​foot​ ​contours ● Building​ ​footprints​ ​etched​ ​and​ ​landmarks​ ​massed​ ​(exaggerated​ ​building​ ​heights--TBD) ● Freeway​ ​and​ ​a​ ​streets​ ​etched,​ ​bridges​ ​and​ ​underpasses​ ​represented Team​ ​master​ ​plan​​ ​at​ ​1”=60’-0” ● 30”x40”​ ​illustrative​ ​plan​ ​(approximately​ ​1800’x2400’) ● Master​ ​plan​ ​area​ ​must​ ​include​ ​both​ ​sides​ ​of​ ​Durham​ ​Freeway ● Identify​ ​model​ ​area​ ​on​ ​master​ ​plan​ ​rendering ● Written​ ​narrative​ ​summarizing​ ​master​ ​plan​ ​recommendations​ ​(250​ ​words) ● Diagrams​ ​(TBD​ ​by​ ​design​ ​team)
