After g raduating from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1986, he began his career at the Missouri H i s t o r i c a l S o c i e t y a s E x h i b i t i o n Te c h n i c i a n a n d t h e n t h e A s s i s t a n t C u r a t o r o f A r t . A f t e r s e v e r a l ye a r s i n t h e i n s t i t u t i o n a l f i e l d , Jo n a t h a n j o i n e d h i s f a t h e r i n t h e g a l l e r y b u s i n e s s a t Ko d n e r G a l l e r y, w h i c h M a r t i n Ko d n e r f o u n d e d i n 1 9 7 1 . Jo n a t h a n b e c a m e a m e m b e r o f T h e N e w E n g l a n d A ppraisers Association while he worked alongside his father to build one of the most eclectic collections of fine art in the Midwest.
