This Design has been prepared to accompany the application for the redevelopment of 10-11 King’s Mews, London, WC1N 2HZ. The site is currently empty, presenting a void along the mews street frontage. The site is flanked on either side by 3 storey private residential properties, generally with basements, either converted from the original mews buildings or new built in a style that follows the essence of the original mews buildings. The proposal is for a three storey (plus basement) residential building to include 7 flats.

Muirfiled nursing care home is located one hour away from the city centre of Edinburgh, at a small town named Gullane in the Scottish East Coast. The area is regarded as a unique place for people that want to live in a more relaxing and vibrant atmosphere, with the property values rising significantly over the last few years due to high demand. The project is divided into three phases, the first one is a demolition of an existing office building next to the old nursing home and the construction of the new nursing care home (diagrams on the right). 0. The planning commission advised the retain of the reusable building blocks of the previous facade as the area is of a historical significance. The 3D BIM model study (below, both pages) conducted to minimize errors during the erection and construction phase in order to maximize coordination and final results. Currently the project has been built and BIM 3D models have been used throughout all RIBA stages. More specifically, all planning amendments and even after built drawing packages were submitted through this model.

The project assignment was to propose ideas and strategies for sustainable development at Scottish Borders after the completion of the railway reconnection with the mainland Scotland. The railway is expected to provide massive growth to the area as property values are expected to rise and while more and more people will prefer to live outside the cities and commute to work. The reduce in commute time will play major significant implications as investors and developers will foresee to capitalize from it. Our team focused in Stow a small village with a great natural habitat surrounding it. The main road (A7) is passing through the village and constitutes the one and only connection point to the rest of the country. The proposal was to develop strategic urban development proposal as growth has been considered as irreversible. The prediction in numbers based on data of similar case studies, usable agricultural land, free range livestock, climate change, flooding and architectural optimization were the main topics that determined our proposal.

Appleton Tower is a building located in the center of Edinburgh, in George square within The University of Edinburgh campus region. In this project we were given the frame structure of this particular building as initial framework and were asked to redesign & develop a concept that could be applied in different weather conditions and environments around the world. We selected Dubai as our location, due to extreme weather conditions and needs that are far opposite to UK standards. Our basic concept and development was inspired by middle eastern vernacular architectural techniques. Specifically, chimney ventilation systems were selected to cool down the building and mashrabia façade system in south view to protect the building from direct sunlight exposure. Chimneys, were developed in such way that could be transformable in order to adjust volume according to condition changes and building needs. In this way, energy demands were lowered significantly and according to calculations conducted, the spaces are functioning according to passive house standards.

The proposal is to produce a building that will be used as an education resource to show how traditional methods for construction can be used in connection with modern methods of construction, as well as a café for the Skills Traditional Centre. Therefore, all elements and connections will be left visible where possible to allow for visual learning. Furthermore, many different types of material and methods will be used again to provide a visual learning experience. As a result of traditional building material being used the building will have a vernacular nature, this will be followed with the choice of modern materials where required. The building will be set up in a modular fashion to allow to for easy deconstruction and reconstruction (diagrams at the page across). Also the workshop area will allow for pre-construction on site. The aim of this project is to provide a remedy to the lack of traditional skilled talent in the Scottish Borders with a training center. As well as providing services to increase unemployment and improve the energy efficiency.

Homer refers to Samothrace describing Poseidon sitting on the top of its highest mountain watching the war across the sea between Trojans and Greeks. The “Great Gods” were worshipped widely at Kaberia Mysteries. The place of worship was at the North side of the island. In this particular place, according to Herodotus the first Greek settlers from Lesvos and/or Asia established. Very soon, after the establishment the city started to colonize the south coastline of Thrace, creating a vast number of colonies around the modern city of Alexandroupoli. Those cities are commonly known as the “Samothracean Walls” of Herodotus. Regarding the Dissertation Thesis, the idea was to create a cultural space next to the ancient city of Zone in the area of Maroneia, in Thrace. The waterfront of Thrace was the location were the colonies of Samothrace established, whereas 12 major city state colonies thrived. The proposal is a museum and a research facility center for archaeologists and scientists. It is an area of Greek mainland with great archaeological sites but with no museums or research center facilities.
