Southeast Technical Institute is home to 50 programs offering hundreds of degrees to mostly nontraditional students. The campus is comprised of academic buildings and housing without supporting social spaces such as a student union. Providing commons areas for students to study, talk and interact is crucial to build community and cohesiveness among students and faculty.

The Ed Wood addition provides needed space to accommodate expanded curriculum while also providing an updated entrance for a large existing shop building(90,000 sf). The addition is relatively small (16,000 sf), but establishes a new identity anchoring a 20 year old building firmly in the 21st century. Sharp corners and angled edges create a powerful entry statement while providing interesting spaces for students to meet and study.
