ในหวงเวลาทีเ่ สียงของเราถูก stop, หลายต อ หลายเรื ่ อ งถู ก ห า มไม ใ ห speak ดวยอำนาจทีม่ องไมเห็น เมือ่ ความจริง ความลวง และความเปนไป ในสังคมถูกพลิกกลับใหบิดเบี้ยวจน เราไมอาจแนใจวาอะไรที่ right อะไร ที่ wrong, ไมมีแมกระทั่งสิทธิในการ เรียกรองสิทธิท์ เ่ี ราพึงมีในชีวติ ประจำวัน พืน้ ทีศ่ ิลปะเปนอีกชองทางหนึ่งที่จะ ชวยใหผคู นได “คิด” “พูด” และ “สงตอ” เรื่องราวที่ถูกลืมเลือนออกไปสูสังคม ไดอีกครั้ง “Human ราย, Human Wrong” เปนโครงการฝกปฏิบตั กิ ารทำงานศิลปะ แนวใหมทน่ี ำศิลปะมาเปนสือ่ กลางใน การสรางสรรค แสดงออกและสื่อสาร เรือ่ งราวใกลตวั ทีถ่ กู ทำใหไกลเราผาน กิจกรรมฝกปฏิบตั ริ ะยะยาววาดวยศิลปะ และการพูดคุยเชิงวิพากษสนุกๆ เพือ่ ดึงเอาศักยภาพทางศิลปะบมเพาะ แรงบันดาลใจ จุดประกายใหผเู ขารวม โครงการไดเรียนรู ตั้งคำถาม และ ถายทอดเรือ่ ง Rights Rights ของ ผูค น ทีม่ กั ถูกมองวา Wrong ตลอดมา ผานงานศิลปะหลากหลายรูปแบบ

When our voice is stopped and many issues are made unspeakable by the invisible power, when truths, myths, and realities in society are twisted making it impossible for us to decide what is right or wrong, when even our voice to demand the right to our daily necessities is silenced, arts can be a avenue through which one can ‘think’, ‘speak’, and ‘pass on’ the forgotten stories into society.

“Human ราย, Human Wrong” is a training workshop on kind of arts where arts are made a medium to express one’s creativity and views about issues most immediate to all of us which have now been made so distant. Through art workshops and fun discussions to draw out artistic potential and to inspire, the participants have got to ask questions and convey their stories through their artworks about what is right that has been made wrong.

Implemented from MaySeptember 2018, Human ราย, Human Wrong Workshop is a practical workshop and a process to develop artworks. It helps to hone artistic skills and nurture critical thinking among participants recruited by the Project. Through these practical lessons, the participants get to know and learn ways to communicate to the public using their artworks, concepts about contemporary arts, how to use voice and space in arts, interpretation and conveying the meaning of words, and the understanding about human rights issues and debate based on critical reasons.

The Human ราย, Human Wrong 2 Art Exhibition shall put on display artworks by the participants after the end of their workshop in July and after further reflection and creative process to tweak their artworks in August and September. It will be a space for the participants to put on display their works of art which convey their knowledge and understanding about the issues that warrant public attention. It should help to prompt us to think deeply about issues most immediate to us and how arts can help to speak non-stop.

งานชิ้นนี้คือการถายทอดประสบการณ ความรูส กึ และความสงสัยตอคุณคาและ ความหมายของการเปนทหาร เมือ่ ภาพ ของ “ทหารหาญ” ทีเ่ ด็กหนุม ชาวไทยได รับการปลูกฝงและปรุงแตงเอาไวอยาง สวยงามรวมไปถึงความมีเกียรติและ หนาที่มอบหมายอันนาภาคภูมิใจนั้น เปนเพียงมายาคติทข่ี ดั แยงอยางสิน้ เชิง กับความเปนจริงและเหตุการณที่ไมได นำมาสู “คุณคา” หรือ “ เกียรติยศ” ใดๆ อยางทีท่ หารใหมถกู สอนใหวาดฝน

Fantasies of a new wave soldier

This piece of artwork is an attempt to convey experienced, feelings, and doubts about the meaning of being a military official. Thai boys are often imbued with the beautiful and gallant image of the “brave military men” making them yearn to perform their duties proudly. Despite that there are many myths about such ‘honor’ or ‘value’ of being a military official, the reality of which can be starkly different from the image imparted to us.

In a military barrack, a number of military conscripts are left to endure strict rule and discipline and infringement. This piece of artwork aspires to be a mouthpiece to reflect the experience of LGBTQI military conscripts who have been subject to repeated violation as new military officials and as being ‘queer’. They have been made a sex object and a clown in a military barrack having to endure rants, verbal abuse, and sexual assault all the time. This happens even in their private space in their bedrooms or on their mattresses.

Human beings have within themselves the multiple and complex identities regardless of their occupations and how they are defined by others. This piece of artwork wants to convey another aspect of sex workers who are stereotypically looked down as a disgrace in society. It wants to demonstrate that in fact underneath this stereotype lies an individual and what do they really want, how do they really feel? What are their hidden identities as a human being, anything that is different from the stereotypical view of general public.

เมื่ออำนาจทำงานกับความเคยชินของ ผูค นบนบริบททีด่ เู หมือนจะสมเหตุสมผล การบีบใหผคู นหันซาย หันขวา และ เดินตามคำสั่งจึงไมใชเรื่องยากสำหรับ ผูม อี ำนาจ ทัง้ ยังไมใชเรือ่ งนาลำบากใจ นักสำหรับผูที่ตกอยูใตอำนาจ จะเกิด อะไรขึ้นกับคำสั่งผิดฝาผิดตัวที่เปลี่ยน ความคุน ชินใหเปนความสงสัย? ภาพ บริบทของพื้นที่และคำสั่งที่ดูเหมือนจะ เปนปกติแตเต็มไปดวยความไมปกติ เหลานีจ้ ะชัดเจนขึน้ หรือไม? และคำถาม นี้คงมีแคคุณที่ไดสัมผัสประสบการณ ดังกลาวผานลูกศรบอกทางเหลานี้เทา นัน้ ทีจ่ ะตอบได

ประเพณี คือสิ่งที่คนกลุมใหญเชื่อถือ วาดีงาม จนกลายเปนแบบแผนขนบธรรมเนียมหรือจารีตประเพณีที่ยึดเปน แนวปฏิบตั สิ บื ตอกันมาในสังคมหนึง่ ๆ จนกระทั่งหลายตอหลายครั้งในสังคม ปจจุบนั ที่ “ประเพณีอนั ดีงาม” กลับกลาย มาเปนขออางทีส่ วมทับเบียดขับวิถชี วี ติ และกำกับใหผคู นอยูภ ายใตกรอบคำสัง่ ที ่ ค นบางกลุ  ม เชื ่ อ กั น ว า ดี แ ละควร อนุรกั ษไว แลวคุณเคยสงสัยหรือไมวา ประเพณีที่วานั้นคืออะไร?

When power is well blended with reasons, it is not hard to force people to turn to the right or the left at whim and to blindly follow the instructions of the powers that be. It is also not inconvenient for those under the power to follow the instructions.

But what will happen when the instructions are made out of order?

What would happen when irregularities of such orders are exposed? All these questions can be experienced by following the arrows.

กระแสบริโภคนิยมปจจุบัน นำมาสู การตลาดที่ผูคาปลายทางสรางจุดเดน ใหสนิ คาเพือ่ ไดมาซึง่ ราคาทีส่ งู โดยการ เพิม่ คุณคาของงานทำมือ (handcraft) ผานการสรางเรื่องเลา (story) ทำให สิ น ค า ทำมือบางกลุมมีราคาตางกัน อยางชัดเจนแม จ ะมี ร ู ป แบบเดี ย วกั น เมื ่ อ ผนวกกั บ ขอจำกัดในดานตนทุน การตลาดและการสรางจุดเดน จึงทำให ผูผลิตต น ทางหรื อ แรงงานฝมือผูเปน เจาของผลงานทีแ่ ทจริงนั้นถูกกดคาแรง และไดรบั ผลตอบแทนจากการขายสินคา นอยกวาผูค า ปลายทางหลายเทา

In this capitalistic society where market economy reigns and everything is geared toward maximizing profits, instead of conveying truths to society, the media have trespassed into our private life through reporting news that is distorted and stigmatizing adopting the terms that infringe on people’s rights and breaking code of ethics simply to create buzz and rating.

Such products from the media are part of the ongoing gross human rights violation that we are not aware of.

Apart from enticing us to ‘buy’ or to ‘have’, market capitalism has hypnotized us leading us to believe that such ‘buying’ and ‘having’ are a must. This has given rise to the ‘physical craving’ whereby people are prompted to change, to tweak, or to fill out parts of their bodies.

Such desire for physical excess has been made possible by deception and propaganda perpetuated in the capitalistic world and it has led to the continual desire to have and the irreversible impacts.

The handcraft

Led by consumerism and marketing, merchants have learned to increase added value in their products by utilizing handcraft and creating a story behind their products. This has made certain merchandises more premium than others despite their similar content. Given the limited credit and a lack of ability to create selling points of their products, producers and artisans who are the very persons to make the products have to have their wages put down and earn less than the merchants that sell their products.

การโกงกิน การทำผิดกฎหมาย และ ความเหลื่อมล้ำมากมายที่เกิดขึ้นดวย อำนาจของเงินตราเกิดขึน้ ซ้ำๆ เปนภาพจำ และความเคยชินอันนาเฉยชาของคน ในสังคม ขัดแยงกับถอยคำสอนสั่งที่ พร่ำบอกใหเราซือ่ สัตยและทำดีตลอดมา แตสิ่งที่นากลัวไมแพการเฝามองอยาง ชินชาและเพิกเฉย คือการรูท ง้ั รูถ งึ ปญหา แตแทบไมอาจแกไขอะไรได ดวยอำนาจ ที่ไมเคยอนุญาตใหใครไดตรวจสอบ หรือแสดงความคิดเห็น เปลี่ยนใหเรา กลายเปนผูเฝามองเรื่องราวเหลานี้เกิด ขึน้ ซ้ำแลวซ้ำเลาอยางไมอาจเยียวยา

คำหนึ่งคำลวนแฝงไปดวยความหมาย อันหลากหลายที่สื่อสะทอนใหเห็นถึง เจตจำนงภายในที ่ ต  า งกั น ของผู  ค น คำบางคำจึงถูกหยิบยกขึน้ มาผลิตซ้ำและ ใชงานซ้ำแลวซ้ำเลาเพือ่ เพิม่ ความชอบธรรมใหกบั การกระทำบางอยางโดยไมได ใสใจกับความหมาย งานชิน้ นีห้ วังจะให คุณไดลองพินจิ คำเหลานีแ้ ละตัง้ คำถาม กับตัวเองอีกครัง้ วา เมือ่ คุณพูดวา Thai คุณหมายถึงคนไทยทุกคนจริงหรือไม? คำวา Right ของคุณคือความถูกตองหรือ ความถูกใจ? ในคำวา Human คุณเห็น อะไร? หรือคุณเห็นเพียง I ทีห่ มายถึง ความตองการของคุณเพียงคนเดียว ?

เมื่อประเทศนี้กำลังถูกแชเอาไวดวย อำนาจและกฎเหนือธรรมชาติของยาดอง สูตรพิเศษจากผูถือครองประเทศโดย ทีค่ นจำนวนมากไมรูตัว งานชิ้นนี้จึง ตองการชักชวนใหทุกคนไดลองลิ้มรส และถอยออกมามองโหลยาดองรส ประหลาดชวนเมาเหลานีก้ อ นจะคิดกันดู ใหดีอีกครั้งวาภายใตรสนุมเนียนลำคอ ของยาดองประเทศสูตรนี้ยังมีความ วิปริตและภัยรายใดซุกซอนอยู

Try me

Corruption, violation of the law and inequality have been made rampant thanks to the power of money. The problems have repeatedly taken place amidst indifference of people in society. This stands contrast to the aged-old teaching that has been imparted to prompt us to honor honesty and integrity. What is equally scary to such indifference and passivity is our inability to solve such problems despite being aware of them. Such predicament could be attributed to the power that has been imposed on us to prevent us from inquiring or expressing our views.

It has turned us into a passive onlooker who bear witness the repetition of the irreversible problems.

A word can embody multiple meanings reflecting the hidden conviction of each person. Certain words have been raised and reproduced time and again to justify certain acts without giving any attention to the real meaning. This piece of artwork prompts people to reflect on the meaning of these words and ask themselves ‘When one mentions about ‘Thai’, do you mean to ask if all people are Thai? ‘Rights’ according to you conveys the meaning of righteousness or self-satisfaction? It could meet just your personal desire.

Herbal Liquor (The Ruler Formula)

When the country is immersed in the power and supernatural rules based on the special formula of herbal liquor concocted by the rulers and most people in the country are now aware of this. This piece of artwork is an attempt to invite us all to take a sip of the liquor and back off to look at the bottle of liquor that is so enticing. Stepping back, we should be able to reflect on it and to uncover that under the smooth taste of the special brew liquor lies crises and risks.

สี่ปที่ผานมา แบรนดรสโอชาพยายาม ทำการตลาดและสรางเทรนดของเผด็จการ แทรกซึมเขามาในชีวิตเราทุกคนอยาง แนบเนียน งานชิน้ นีเ้ ปนการสะทอนสีสนั และรูปลักษณอันตลกรายของแบรนด เผด็จการเมือ่ ภาพอันสวยงามทีแ่ บรนด พยายามสรางมาปะทะกับความจริงที่ ทั้งรายกาจและนาขบขัน พรอมๆ กัน กับการถายทอดอารมณความรูสึกตอ propaganda ทีเ่ ผด็จการสรางขึน้

Shape and Form (The true color of the despots)

In the 4.0 Land, under the despotic grip in the name of national security, the country and its predicament have been twisted to the core. All these scratches and stains represent the black power and the restrain based on which such despotic power can jolly in this incomplete system. It has led to the undermining of rights and liberties making our lives far from being normal.

Human minds can be a living place for monsters, the very existence of ours that yearn for power. Such inner self has driven us to use so heinous methods to achieve our aims. In other word, such inhumane methods have defined us as human beings. This piece of artwork is an attempt to expose such monstrous being that hides in every milieu of our life.

In the past four years, Ocha brand has established itself using marketing gimmick to shore up the despotic pattern that permeates everyone of us so subtly. This piece of artwork reflects the colors and the forms of this ironic despots where the attractive branding is juxtaposed with the vicious and ironic truth. It embodies the propagandistic emotion nurtured by such despotic regime.

อำนาจทีแ่ ทจริงของการปดกัน้ การแสดง ความเห็นทางการเมืองไมใชแคการยับยัง้ แตเปนการสรางความกลัวและความ หวาดระแวงขึน้ ในใจของผูค น ผานการ จับกุม การสอดสอง และการขมขูผูที่ แสดงออกเชิงสัญลักษณทางการเมือง เวทีเสวนาวิชาการ ไปจนกระทั่งผูที่ แสดงความเห็นในพื้นที่ของการเรียนรู และตั้งคำถามอยางพืน้ ทีม่ หาวิทยาลัย ความกลัวเหลานี้เองที่มาทำลายความ สามารถและความกลาทีจ่ ะแสดงความเห็น อยางสุจริตใจซึ่งในทายที่สุดความกลัว เหลานีเ้ องทีบ่ อ นทำลายพลังมวลชนให ไมอาจชวยกันรวมแกไขปญหาสังคม การเมืองไดอยางแทจริง The power invoked to stifle political expression is not just suppression, but the perpetuation of fear and a lack of trust in people’s mind. This has been manifested by the arrests, surveillance, and political harassment imposed on any academic seminars.

The clampdown has expanded to people who express themselves in an academic realm including a university.

Such fear has led to the detriment of the ability and bravery to genuinely express oneself. Eventually, such fear would destroy and undercut the power of the mass that could have led to genuine solutions in social and political problems.

Something is hidden underneath the warm love and care. The power that is ready to be imposed on us all the time. But given its dormant state, we are hardly aware of it and hardly question it. Such warm love may do us damage unknowingly; it could restrain us making us succumb to certain predicament despite our resistance.

In people’s imagination, prisoners or images are those who have committed an offence and as a result of which have to do their time in jail.

Their image has been projected as abhorrent or disgusting or inhumane.

This piece of artwork is an account of people who serve their time in jail and the diverse impression from encountering with the many lives that are treated as if they were not alive.

Implemented from MaySeptember 2018, Human ราย, Human Wrong Workshop is a practical workshop and a process to develop artworks. It helps to hone artistic skills and nurture critical thinking among participants recruited by the Project. Through these practical lessons, the participants get to know and learn ways to communicate to the public using their artworks, concepts about contemporary arts, how to use voice and space in arts, interpretation and conveying the meaning of words, and the understanding about human rights issues and debate based on critical reasons.

The Human ราย, Human Wrong 2 Art Exhibition shall put on display artworks by the participants after the end of their workshop in July and after further reflection and creative process to tweak their artworks in August and September. It will be a space for the participants to put on display their works of art which convey their knowledge and understanding about the issues that warrant public attention. It should help to prompt us to think deeply about issues most immediate to us and how arts can help to speak non-stop.
