By Randy Moore, Director DFMWR
Balcombe Mural Project
As we enter the final stretch of this year, I want to share my heartfelt appreciation for the dedication you bring to Fort Knox every day. The work we do isn't always easy, and lately the path forward has required more patience, flexibility, and trust than usual. Yet through it all, you continue to show resilience and an unwavering commitment to serving our community. As the holidays approach, I encourage you to take moments to breath and reconnect, with family, with friends, and with what inspires you. You deserve that time, and our team is stronger when each of you is well and supported.

BALCOMBE MURAL PROJECT
Team Success
On October 15, 2025, local artist Damon Thompson finished an impressive original mural project aimed at enhancing the game room situated within the Balcombe Recreation Center. Over 20 MWR employees, along with BOSS Soldiers, gathered to explore and learn various graffiti and painting techniques, actively contributing to the intricate details of the mural as it came to life. The mural features an illustrated timeline of characters from first-person-shooter video games over the last 25 years. After completing the mural, which consists of 8 individual panels, the mural was professionally installed in the game room with custom LED backlighting. Thanks to creativity and teamwork from our staff, iconic characters from Halo, Call of Duty, Fortnite, and more are on display, larger-than-life, at Balcombe Recreation Center.
WANT TO SEE IT IN PERSON? Balcombe Recreation Center is open to ALL MWR staff ageS 18+ on Wednesday through Friday from 4-10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 12-10 p.m.

Aatmagial evening Saber & Quill On September 5, 2025, we transformed Saber & Quill into a little slice of the Wizarding World, and 187 delighted witches, wizards, (and yes,) even a few Muggles joined us for a magical evening. The family-friendly event featured an interactive Diagon Alley experience, complete with themed decor and costumed staff members who brought beloved characters like Headmaster Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Professor McGonagall to life. After receiving a commemorative wand and potion, guests were sorted, seated, and served a "family-style" buffet, complete with Butterbeer, inside Hogwart's Great Hall. Kids had a blast searching for Dobby's lost socks and tackling Harry Potter trivia, while parents enjoyed the immersive, fun atmosphere. In short, it was a spellbinding success and a wonderful reminder of how we create a bit of magic for our community. Thanks to everyone who made it happen!
YOU MATTER!
/be the best you/
Small Habits can have a Big Impact. Small actions today shape a better tomorrow.
It's easy to get caught up in the fast pace of work and home life, but taking a moment for yourself isn't selfish, it's essential. Building resilience doesn't always come from big changes or bold goals. Sometimes it starts with the smallest habits: drinking an extra glass of water, talking a 10-minute walk during lunch, or stepping away for a moment to breathe and reset. These little choices add up. They help us when days feel overwhelming and remind us that caring for others starts with caring for ourselves. So try picking one simple habit that makes you feel good, and treat it like a non-negotiable part of your day. You matter, and your wellbeing deserves that kind of commitment.
