For the conservative homeowner, adding colour to a room can be a daunting prospect. Stripes and florals? Rainbow cushions? To some it might sound overboard, until island designer Justine Knox, beaming her reassuring smile, introduces you to Missoni Home. It’s the design brand she has trusted for years to inject colour into her projects, while adhering to the Knox standard of quality. “Missoni Home puts pattern and creativity at my fingertips, it makes a bold statement at a very high quality. With over two decades of experience behind her, Justine Knox has grown into one of the best known names in interior design on the island. And as well as the CEO of Knox Design, her work extends to that of a home-staging consultant – preparing a property to maximise its appeal to potential buyers. One of Justine’s recent such projects involved the transformation of this villa in the sought-after neighbourhood of Sol de Mallorca. Con más de dos décadas de experiencia a sus espaldas, Justine Knox se ha convertido en uno de los exponentes más reconocidos en el campo del diseño de interiores en la isla. Además de ser la directora ejecutiva de Knox Design, su trabajo también se extiende más allá como consultora de Home Staging: preparar una propiedad para maximizar su atractivo para los compradores potenciales. Uno de los proyectos más recientes de Justine consistió en la transformación de esta villa en la codiciada urbanización de Sol de Mallorca. Mit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten Erfahrung hat sich Justine Knox zu einer der bekanntesten Innenarchitekten auf der Insel entwickelt. Neben ihrer Tätigkeit als Geschäftsführerin von Knox Design arbeitet sie auch als Beraterin für Home-Staging. Sie bereitet eine Immobilie so vor, dass sie für potenzielle Käufer ausgesprochen attraktiv ist. Eines von Justines jüngsten Home-Staging Projekten war die Umgestaltung dieser Villa in dem begehrten Viertel Sol de Mallorca.

The brief was to create a holiday home for grown-up families that spoke of luxury elegance throughout– and the results were impressive enough to reach the finals of the SBID International Design Awards. “The first challenge became giving meaning and harmony to the long ground floor living area,” Justine recalls. This meant defining the function of each space – the kitchen, dining and lounge areas – and then tying them together with a light caramel tone using sandstone marble and pale oak. Artworks were also chosen to complement sandy tones.
El objetivo era crear una casa de vacaciones para familias que reflejara la elegancia del lujo en su conjunto, y los resultados fueron tan impresionantes que el proyecto llegó a la final de los premios SBID International Design Awards. “El primer desafío fue dar sentido y armonía a la gran sala de estar que se encuentra en la planta baja”, recuerda Justine. Esto significó definir la función de cada espacio (la cocina, el comedor y el salón) y luego unirlos con tonalidades caramelo utilizando mármol y roble pálido. También se eligieron obras de arte para complementar estos tonos arena.
SOFTENING ANGULAR ARCHITECTURE The outcome was a uniformity of flow and warmth, while a partition wall placed between the lobby and dining space increased the sense of intimacy. A sprinkling of glitz was introduced with pearlescent paisley wallpaper in the stairwells, as well a cascading spiral of silver and gold glass bulbs overhead. Upstairs, a second lounge added more comfy seating and soft tones, together with more artwork echoing the relaxing mint and fuchsia accents of furnishings and textured fabrics. Outside, the anthracite grey and neutrals of the building’s structural elements have been replicated in the terrace furniture. But mostly Justine’s objective was to soften the angularity of the contemporary architectural design by introducing curved shapes in the form of ceiling lamps, seating and vases. The overall
SUAVIZAR LA ARQUITECTURA ANGULAR El resultado fue una uniformidad de flujo y calidez, mientras que una pared divisoria colocada entre el vestíbulo y el comedor aumentó la sensación de intimidad. Se introdujo una pizca de brillo con papel de paisley perlado en las escaleras, así como una espiral en cascada de bombillas plateadas y doradas en lo alto. Arriba, en un segundo salón, se incorporaron asientos más cómodos y tonos suaves, junto con más obras de arte que se hacen eco de los relajantes toques de menta y fucsia de los muebles y telas texturizadas. En el exterior, el gris antracita y el neutro de los elementos estructurales del edificio se han replicado en el mobiliario de la terraza. Pero principalmente el objetivo de Justine era suavizar la angularidad del diseño arquitectónico contemporáneo mediante

Das bedeutete, die Funktion jedes Raumes - Küche, Ess- und Wohnbereich - zu definieren und sie dann mit hellem Karamellton unter Verwendung von Sandsteinmarmor und heller Eiche miteinander zu verbinden. Darüberhinaus wählte sie Kunstwerke aus, die den Sandton ergänzen sollten. ECKIGE ARCHITEKTUR AUFWEICHEN Das Ergebnis war ein Gefühl von Gleichmäßigkeit und Wärme, während eine Trennwand zwischen Lobby und Essbereich den Eindruck von Privatsphäre verstärkt. Das Treppenhaus wurde mit einer perlmuttfarbenen Paisleytapete verziert, und an der Decke wurde eine kaskadenförmige Spirale aus silbernen und goldenen Glaskolben angebracht. Im oberen Stockwerk befindet sich eine zweite Lounge. Bequeme Sitzgelegenheiten und weiche Farbtöne sowie weitere Kunstwerke, die die beruhigenden Minz- und FuchsiaAkzente der Möbel und strukturierten Stoffen

Im Außenbereich wurden das Anthrazitgrau und die Neutralität der Gebäudestruktur in den Terrassenmöbeln nachgebildet. Justines Ziel bestand vor allem aber darin, die scharfen Kanten des zeitgenössischen architektonischen Designs mithilfe geschwungener Formen der Deckenlampen, Sitzmöbel und Vasen abzumildern. Das Ergebnis ist eine Villa, in der die klaren zeitgenössischen Linien durch eine warme und doch anmutige Formgebung ausgeglichen werden. Es ist ein weiteres erfolgreiches Projekt, das dazu beitragen wird, Justine Knox weiter als eine der führenden Persönlichkeiten auf ihrem Fachgebiet auf Mallorca zu etablieren. |
