“The demand for music beyond the hits seemed to be limitless. True, the songs didn't sell in big numbers, but nearly all of them sold something. What Vann-Adibé had discovered was that the aggregate market for niche music was huge, and effectively unbounded.”

What is a cohort? Do you belong to a cohort?

Anderson, Chris. “The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More." U.S.NewsandWorld Report. 11 Jul. 2006. <www.usnews.com>.

What is an “aggregate market”? What other things can be aggregated? “. . . alcohol use among high school students has fallen dramatically. The Monitoring the Future surveys conducted by the University of Michigan show that in 1991, 81% of eighth-, 10th- and 12th-graders had had at least one drink in their lives; by last year, the figure was only 58%. Roughly 47% of this cohort had been drunk at least once in 1991; in 2007 only 38% had ever been drunk. On college campuses, meanwhile, the ranks of nondrinkers are rising steadily.”

The brain stores most memories only for a short time. Most people can memorize a phone number long enough to make a call, but they will forget the number moments later.
