Launched in 2017, The KNOW Book + Tribe began as a way to bring more attention to dynamic women doing remarkable things in the Phoenix metro. We knew there were an outstanding number of women impacting the community and making big strides in their industries. Our goal was to get those women out from behind their computer screens and into the public eye. Thus, we created the KNOW Book, a carefully curated publication that would feature vision-led women in a glamorous and authentic style. As the momentum grew and we recognized the need for more, we launched our Tribe around the women featured in our KNOW Book. Our mix & mingles soon ensued and we witnessed incredible things happening. We saw our women doing business with each other, creating friendships, supporting each other, collaborating on projects together and so much more. What started as a fun project to spotlight women, has turned into a full-blown movement. The KNOW Book + Tribe has expanded beyond its birthplace of Phoenix, Arizona; its aim is to launch in every major city across the United States and Canada.

LEXI DIYESO HAZEL TWENTY & MAISIE TWENTY Strong. Dedicated. Passionate. These words best describe Lexi DiYeso. As a former Division I collegiate soccer player and University of South Carolina graduate, she’s found great power in exercise, training and discipline, and began her career as a personal trainer and fitness coach. Shortly after the birth of her third child, she began moving towards the creation of a clothing boutique and gathering place for women. She started working from home and established an eBay business focused on hand-picked denim, boutique clothing and accessories. This quickly transformed into, Hazel Twenty, the first mobile clothing truck in Asheville. In May of 2018, Hazel Twenty took residency at the corner of Patton and Lexington – almost 10 years after Lexi began her journey. She spent the early years of her career in the corporate sector but after moving to Asheville in 2015 she wanted to spend more time with her growing family. KARLA FURNARI BUNCOMBE COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS Karla Furnari is the Local Coordinator for Buncombe County Special Olympics, where she runs a year round proagram offering 12 different sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities. As local coordinator, Karla is responsible for sports programming, fundraising, and social outings. Each sport has a practice season leading up to State level competitions. Karla not only provides athletic opportunities for the athletes, but she strives to get them involved in the community, meeting people and being comfortable in their own skin. Karla strives to bridge the gap between people with and without intellectual disabilities in order to foster a more inclusive community. In addition to running a successful Special Olympics program, Karla organizes and executes the counties greenways master plan. Karla is in charge of planning, implementing, and finding funding for the counties 102 mile planned greenway system. LESLIE COUNCIL LAKE MY SISTAH TAUGHT ME THAT Leslie Council Lake is the founder of My Sistah Taught Me That (MSTMT), a youth development program which launched in 2016. MSTMT established the female cohort to the reputable programming of My Daddy Taught Me That (MDTMT), founded by her husband, Keynon Lake.

A native of Asheville, NC, Leslie serves as a mentor for over 200 youth. MSTMTâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s mission is to foster the development of young girls into becoming healthy, honorable, adults. MSTMT provides a stable environment, extracurricular activities, and accompanies young girls throughout their adolescent years. The program practices a boots-on-the-ground approach by being advocates for youth at schools, in their homes, and in the workforce. Programming is offered multiple times per week and some weekends, which include discussion groups, curriculum teaching on topics such as healthy relationships, finances, self-esteem, multicultural history, arts and crafts, physical activities, and more.
