Launched in 2017, The KNOW Book + Tribe began as a way to bring more attention to dynamic women doing remarkable things in the Phoenix metro. We knew there were an outstanding number of women impacting the community and making big strides in their industries. Our goal was to get those women from behind their computer screens and into the public eye. Thus, we created the KNOW Book, a carefully curated publication that would feature vision-led women in a glamorous and authentic style. As the momentum grew and we recognized the need for more, we launched our Tribe around the women featured in our KNOW Book. Our mix & mingles soon ensued and we witnessed incredible things happening. We saw our women doing business with each other, creating friendships, supporting each other, collaborating on projects together and so much more. What started as a fun project to spotlight women, has turned into a full-blown movement. The KNOW Book + Tribe has expanded beyond its birthplace of Phoenix, Arizona; its aim is to launch in every major city across the United States and Canada. Today, we are excited to welcome the dynamic women of the YYC into our KNOW Tribe. The women featured in this book have been vetted against our high standards. Some career highlights have been earning four incentive trips, being awarded for top in sales, recruiting and leadership in Canada, reaching the highest executive rank company wide and being hand selected to serve on the Global Advisory board in 2017 and 2018 for Canada.   Brittany thrives in diversity, authenticity and creativity. She lives in Calgary, Alberta with her husband and four children, loving life, traveling, and documenting it along the way! HOME & LIFE CULTURED CANINES BETH O’CONNOR Hello my name is Beth and I founded Cultured Canines in 2011. Before I became a dog trainer, my first dog, Jett and I were at the off leash park when he ran across the street to see another dog. He was hit by an SUV and died shortly after in my arms. This was, without a doubt, the worst day of my life. I became a dog trainer so that I could made sure no one would have to endure what my family and I went through with Jett. The relationships I have been able to build with my three dogs, Jake Leia and Kirk, has shown me just how amazing and complex the relationship between dogs and humans can and should be. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the bond between a dog and their owners grow and blossom.

When the opportunity to become business partners and co-owners of Dog Gone Running arose in 2015, they jumped on it. Since then, Calgary’s premier dog running company has doubled in scope

RALAINA (RAY) VIROSTEK Ray Photography + Design is the love child of Ralaina (Ray) Virostek, farm girl gone city. With a passion for the arts since early childhood, Ray has been developing her artistic skills since she was capable of holding a crayon. Ray jumped head first into design at the age of twelve with numerous creative projects for neighbouring teachers, family and friends. This quickly progressed to company branding, illustration and photography. In 1986 when Christine McIver’s son Derek was diagnosed with a brain tumour, there were very few programs in the province to help children and families navigate childhood cancer. With a group of dedicated volunteers, Christine started what would become Kids Cancer Care in her basement. Today, Kids Cancer Care is internationally recognized for the quality and diversity of its programming, which is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the whole family at each stage in the cancer journey—from diagnosis through treatment, and even bereavement. Christine’s life’s work to improve the lives of children with cancer has been recognized with several prestigious awards including a Governor General’s Meritorious Service Medal and an Alberta Centennial Medal. In 2017, she received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Calgary. Although her son Derek did not live to see the work of his mother, his memory lives on in the work of his mother and her staff at Kids Cancer Care.

LOVE FOR LEWISTON JESSICA JANZEN OLSTAD Jessica Janzen Olstad is the CoFounder of the Love for Lewiston Foundation. The LFL Foundation was established in May 2017, to honour her son Lewiston who passed away 3 days shy of his 6 month birthday, from a rare genetic disease called SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). In a year and a half, they have raised over $350,000 for Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, and SMA research and families. They not only focus on raising money, finding a cure, but also advocating and supporting SMA families, and encouraging others to choose movement, bring joy and spread love. Jessica has designed a clothing line produced locally to continue awareness for SMA. She blogs, teaches fitness and pursues the things that make her heart soar. She loves spending time with family and friends, a good cup of coffee, working out and soaking up the sunshine by the water, always with the daily focus to “run towards the roar”!

We advocate for mental health, we dig deep and answer the tough questions about ourselves. We come to our yoga mats, we breathe ,we move and we surrender. Orenda continues to lead hundreds of youth through registered weekly programs, summer camps, workshops and one on one mentoring.
