Production Now that we have decided on the direction for the identity, we need to finalize designs, confirm components and decide on vendors. We will review samples of final designs before we print or produce anything.

Identity: Belle Époque imagery The bespoke script “1871” can be used as the sole image. The lines would appear thicker at smaller sizes, thinner at larger sizes. As discussed, it can also be turned into a pattern and have different applications for each component.

We can also use a logo mark.

Shown here are several icons from the period that either relate to Smith’s traditions or the society’s many metaphors.

Stationery: Full-color letterhead At minimum, you need an 8.5 x 11” letterhead and matching envelope, 200–500 quantity. I think moo.com is the most cost-effective for small print runs, full-color printing on both sides of the letterhead, and variation on the back-side pattern/image. The caveats: Foil stamping and raised lettering are not available on the letterhead and the envelopes are blank, with no printing available. We can have small cards—square or business card-size—with foil stamping and raised spot gloss. We can also add a mark to the envelopes with a custom sticker, wax seal, rubber stamp, and/or embossed stamp.

Stationery: Watermarks and foil stamping We can have a water mark in the paper but the minimum order is 10,000 sheets for about $770.

I can look for other vendors.

Foil stamping is reflective and elegant when used with restraint.

The “1871� or Smith seal can be used as a watermark for stationery for all Smith fundraising materials and custom-printed in smaller quantities with specific campaign and society branding.

Crystal clear plastic or glassine vellum envelopes can be customized with contents showing through, custom stickers, cover sheets, mailing labels, etc.

Stationery: Folders and portfolios We need some means of gathering and packaging existing printed materials. It could be an envelope, folder, ribbon, or portfolio.

Shown here are some rough ideas with links to vendors but we should discuss final size needed to accommodate existing materials.

Archival boxes can also be customized with custom stickers, cover sheets, mailing labels, etc. $7.50 each

Custom logo ribbon can tie loose items together or act as an added touch to a HermĂŠs-style box.
