The History of the Post Office
This three-story neoclassical building was the first major federal facility to be constructed in Miami. The building features a Spanish tile roof and wide overhanging eaves, which are adapted for the local climate.
During the 1926 Hurricane that destroyed most of Miami and caused extensive damage to the railroad, the building remained intact, providing safe shelter for hundreds of people. In 1937, it became the home of the first savings and loan association to be chartered by the U.S. government.

The building’s latent beauty, architectural design, heritage, and central role in the city’s history, combined with a development component, provide a unique opportunity for a developer to blend the old with the new.
