What do the rules visually look like?     

Can have 30 grams on your person 1 ounce = 28.35 grams Number of joints per 30 gram = 40-88 Can grow 4 plants per household 4 plants produce = approx. 2 lbs (6-12 weeks)  2 lbs = 32 ounces = 907 grams  907 grams = 30 x 30 = 1200-2640 joints  = 3.3 -7.2 joints per day (x 4-8 crops)

• Fees • $400 application fee (nonrefundable) • $700 annual license fee • $3000 initial deposit

AGLC responsible for regulatory enforcement of Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act and Regulations in Alberta.

AHS does not support having specific venues for indoor consumption (smoking, vaping, water pipes) as this would expose people to second-hand smoke, promote renormalization of smoking, reverse some progress made with public smoking bans, and present occupational health issues (second & third hand smoke exposures, and inadvertent intoxication of staff and patrons).

Location • 300 m-500m minimum between retail outlets • 300m-500m between retail & schools, daycares & community centres • 100m minimum from tobacco & liquor retailers • Include parks, churches & recreation facilities in setbacks

• Increased B&E for transporting and retail sites • Difficulty determining difference between legal & illegal • Black & gray markets thriving • Highly volatile chemicals used to extract hash oil (usually butane) • Chemical extractions up to 90% THC

• Increase in burn patients (often residential areas) • Risk of fire to other structures increased • Cannabis infused edibles all over the map for potency • Increased toxicity • Increase in adult psychotic episodes, suicide & homicide

• Edibles packaged to look like over the counter candy & food • 218% increase in hospitalization • Novice users don’t understand potency (ODs) • First responder safety – increased carbon dioxide, high humidity, heat, toxic mold, THC levels in air, carbon monoxide poisoning, fertilizers & pesticides

• Require eye & face protection, SCBA, chemical resistant gloves, fire resistant clothes • Overloaded electrical circuits • Danger to children living in homes • Youth 12-17 use 40% higher than national average

• Determining legal limit difficult • Tremendous cost increase for testing • Daily use prior to age 17 = 60% less likely to finish high school, 7 x more likely suicide, 8 x more likely to use addictive drugs
