Dancinginxs was established in 1998 and I have been the director and owner since 2005. It was the first dance studio in the Doral area at the time. Throughout all these years, it has grown, becoming one of the best studios in South Florida. As a director and choreographer, I have been able to teach more than 3,000 children in the last 15 years.
I teach technique and choreograph Jazz, Flamenco, and Oriental Dances. Dancinginxs is unique and different from so many other studios because we make every effort to create a family atmosphere that will help develop the child’s self-esteem, confidence, and most importantly, friendships that last a lifetime. We not only teach dance, we teach responsibility, respect, loyalty, and a passion for dance.
Dancinginxs is not a global company, but nevertheless it is a company that has been in the market for more than 20 years, culturally involved in an area where there is a high multicultural level of different inhabitants from Latin America mostly and from the rest of the world. Dancinginxs, has had the support and recognition by the Mayor of the city for being one of the companies that has provided the most cultural benefits and has opened social spaces for children and parents within the community.
Dancing is an area where women can develop very well. However, it is much more competitive for us than it is for men.
Really, the challenge in my case is not only being a woman trying to establish a name or prestige for myself as a business owner. Beyond that, the challenge has been overcoming obstacles as an immigrant, and residing in a country where I had never studied dance, did not know the environment, nor did I know anyone else. I was not aware of the way that everything worked and had to learn to speak a language that was not familiar to me.
Dance has become a very competitive industry, especially within new trends in social networks, and new television shows. Every day it is a challenge for me to try to keep the name of Dancinginxs prevalent in the industry.

ART AND DANCE IN A PLACE THAT SHOULD FEEL LIKE HOME
In my case, my success comes from doing things differently from what a dance studio director can do. Personally, healthy competition (while not directly promoting competition among my own students), has helped me to create a much more familiar environment where the values and abilities of each of the children count. Even my relationship with the other studio directors in the area and within the country has been exceptional. This has been because I do not see them as a competition for me, but as a support of knowledge where I learn more and where I also value the things that everyone is doing. Many children come and go from other studios, and I have always proudly left the doors open for anyone who wants to try to experience dancing somewhere else. However, most of my clients have become family. Many of the students who have passed through my hands have grown up to study, and continue to visit DancingINXS after graduating, because they feel that this is their home. Their best memories have been here.
I am a Social Communicator and a Journalist. In Colombia, I worked for a long time with the community and with children, but specifically in marginal areas and as a mediator in many social problems. All these experiences helped me to know a lot about how to handle certain situations diplomatically.
Having a dance studio is very beautiful because you fill yourself with energy among so many children and become a person and role model that meets many of their expectations. However, I have found that on some occasions it is challenging to work with parents and meet each of their expectations while trying to please them all so that they always feel comfortable and welcome. My

career in communications helped me develop the proper skills to communicate with them and be as tactful as possible in certain situations.
I am in a specific area of immigrants in South Florida. The name of the city is Doral, and it is a suburb to the west of Miami. It is a very familiar area with a very high number of schools and where families who have been in the country for a short time, or who are just arriving to live in the United States. However, it is an area with a high economic and educational level and where, socially, extracurricular activities for children are an important part of family roles.
I was born in Bogota, Colombia where I graduated with a master’s degree in Social Communication, specializing in Journalism. During all my years in Colombia, dance has always accompanied me. I trained and danced in different academies, both recreational and professional.
Dance has been my hobby my entire life and now that hobby has become my profession, my job, and my lifestyle. When I came to live in the United States in 2001, I left journalism aside and dedicated myself to expanding my knowledge of dance in different studios. Shortly after living in Miami, I was already dictating in 7 dance studios and had 16 weekly classes for all ages, specifically in Flamenco, Belly Dance and Jazz.
In 2005, the previous owner of Dancinginxs (where I was working at the time), decided to sell the business. It was then that I took the opportunity to become the new owner of the studio. Dancinginxs became more than a business to me. It became my world. Perhaps the success I have had is because dancing was never my career, but my hobby and my lifestyle. This lifestyle has made me view business in a different way, where success is assured in the long term when you do things for love rather than money.
As director of DancingINXS, I want to cover many areas that allow me to have an active presence in the community. I will focus this upcoming year in strengthening the prestige of DancingINXS and trying to lead our competitive teams to win first place in all events. My next goal is to be able to It is to begin to develop an operations manual that serves as a model for future franchises but abroad, specifically starting in Colombia. For this, it is important to strengthen the image of the school in the next year, and thus have a faster path to success.
We have also developed a non-profit organization to teach free dance classes to children with special needs. We currently teach to a group consisting of 5 mothers and their daughters.This dance program is dedicated mainly to children with Down Syndrome. It allows kids to explore movements, creativity through rhythm and music, while developing social, emotional, and physical skills. Our foundation has been active for approximately 3 year and has received multiple donations from the government and the community. It has been a success and we look forward to continuing to grow with this program to address the needs of many families with children with Down Syndrome.

DancingINXS is my home and the home of many. My work team are the ones that have been with me from the beginning. Today they are my best friends. Many of my students have graduated and now work with me. Some of my youngest students dream of working in this field and for many others I have been able offer support in personal areas of their lives. Few people in life manage to live on their hobby and have economic stability and success. I have been able to achieve that with Dancinginxs. Limitations only inhabit our mind. But if we use our imagination, our possibilities have no limits. This year I am celebrating 18 years as director and owner of the studio, at a very difficult time worldwide. However, I know that these challenges are the ones that will always make you grow more. Dreams do come true when you really believe in them.
