Our Purpose “I have always had a heart to serve. My non-profit organization, A STEP Up Christian Ministries, the missions enterprise of KM Ministries, was birthed as a foundational initiative to cultivate that desire to serve. We are a Christ-centered organization that is ANOINTED to STRENGTHEN, TEACH, EMPOWER, PROVIDE for, UPHOLD and PREPARE God’s people for greatness! It is based on the concept of Jeremiah 29:11; that God has a perfect plan for each one of his people. Our mission is to help God’s people recognize and step forward into those Godgiven plans through ministry-sponsored Educational Opportunities, Workshops and Scholarships. I have been working in the legal field for well over 25 years, and I take pride in using my experience and education to assist other Ministers, non-profits, Musicians and artists to organize and run their ministries “decently and in order”. The initiatives we currently work to fund came from my prayer of wanting to help others as I have been helped. For example: I had a village that stepped in and helped me when I was raising my daughter, one of our initiatives, the Kimberly Mason Single Parent Assistance Fund helps single parents financially with non-traditional financial needs such as financial assistance for High School Senior fees, financial assistance that assist with prom essentials, and financial assistance to assist with extracurricular activity fees and financial assistance toward college testing fees. I lost my sister/cousin to cancer. One of our initiatives, The Tyra DeLeise Coleman Cancer Assistance Fund, provides for the physical and Spiritual needs of patients going through cancer treatments and their caregivers. We aim to provide toiletries, blankets, head covers, and any other needed essentials.
I.
I had so many Pastors and ministers (Including my Dad) who mentored, and supported me throughout my ministerial journey, one of our initiatives, the Rev. Dr. Willie Mason Scholarship for Christian Education, provides financial support to young ministers attending the Hampton Minister’s Conference and the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education.” Excerpt taken from the article “Life and Work with Rev. Kaelynne Mason Kaelynne Joye Mason, LL.M. is an American Gospel/Soul singer-songwriter known by her stage name K. Joye. In 2017, Kaelynne graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Bethune-Cookman University. Shortly after, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Law from Regent University, and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Strategic Leadership Program at Regent University. Kaelynne serves as the Program Coordinator in the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs Administration of Justice department at Texas Southern University. At TSU, Kaelynne also serves as a Professor who enjoys teaching Criminal Law and Procedure as well as Substance Abuse courses. Her love of teaching and mentoring extends to the church as she can be seen teaching bible study to youth at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, TX. Kaelynne has a niche for creating an atmospheres where women and youth can network, share, grow, and begin to develop healthy habits in their lifestyles.
Through her nonprofit organization, the Joye Outreach Foundation, she provides women and youth with empowerment resources to be successful in every area of their life. She has a heart to help people discover their God-given gifts, power, and authority through Jesus Christ. Kaelynne just wants people to “Get God” and experience the good life that was “prearranged” for us as described in Ephesians 2:10. A series of life events inspired Kaelynne to create an in-home music studio in an effort to teach herself how to record and produce music. Her goal is to prove that you can love God, serve others, receive an education while also pursuing your dreams. In April of 2018, Kaelynne released her first single titled “Act Right,” which
appeared on Hot 94.1’s radio station in Daytona Beach, FL. In May 2018, she released her popular single titled “Wave.” Kaelynne has appeared on radio stations such as Mystics Entertainment and received positive feedback from Hot 107.9’s Heat Seekers. On August 17, 2018, she released her 1st R&B/Soul album titled “The End.” This heartfelt and relatable album shares stories about the absence of her father, the struggles of relationships, and self-love. The album’s title, “The End,” signifies the importance that the end of something old is always the beginning of something new. Kaelynne released her 2nd album titled “S.O.U.L (Savior Offering Unfailing Love)” on October 5, 2019. She dedicated this gospel album to the one who gave her the gift of song, God. Having a strong Christian foundation, Kaelynne continues to remain humble, knowing where her help comes from. She believes that anything is possible if you keep God first.

THE INSPIRATION, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND IMPACT OF 20 YEARS IN MINISTRY
MARIANNE ARRINGTON Overcoming People
Marianne Arrington was born and raised in Washington, DC as the youngest of three children. She was a member of Walker Memorial Baptist Church in DC, and it was there that she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and got baptized in 1974 at the tender age of seven. Although she gave her life to Christ, she strayed away from the Lord, as many people do. During those caterpillar years in the wilderness, she met a man, whom she married in 1990 and with whom she had four children. Unfortunately, that man abused her physically, mentally and emotionally. She found herself as a victim of domestic violence, living in a dark cocoon of fear, low self-esteem, depression, and entrapment. When her youngest daughter was approximately 2 years old, she joined First Baptist Church of Glenarden and rededicated her life to Christ in 1994. She grew closer to the Lord and realized that there had to be a better way of life for herself and for her children. God placed several people in her life to encourage her, to build confidence in Jesus and in herself, and to support her. In 2004, the Holy Spirit provided her with strength, courage and the opportunity to finally leave her situation and divorce her husband. She was released from the cocoon! In December 2005, she relocated to Georgia and in 2006, she married the love of her life, Ken Arrington. They are members of Berean Christian Church in Snellville, Georgia, where they were ordained as deacons in 2021. Marianne is also a MasterLife Facilitator at Berean and the Coordinator of the Dance Ministry. She is now soaring as a butterfly, spreading joy to others, and enjoying the fulfillment of God’s promises and the blessings that He showers over her! Her favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, “We are pressed on every side by trouble, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.”
KEITH MASON Overcoming Self Destruction Keith Mason was born in Washington, D.C., but at a very young age moved to Lexington, Kentucky, with his mother and 3 siblings. As a young man, Keith was neither a stranger to the streets nor the adversities that came with them, but the streets taught him lifelong lessons and consequences of drug use and the addiction that followed. That downward spiral affected Keith, and before long he found himself inside the walls of prison. Understanding he was in an environment where there were two choices: Continue with the mindset that caused him to be incarcerated or take advantage of the opportunities and programs that the prison system had to offer. After serving three years in the Kentucky State Prison System, Keith was faced with the almost impossible mission of fulfilling two conditions before he could be released. He had to find a job while in prison and secure a place to live. This seemed unfeasible while behind bars and that dilemma would fuel the vision and passion for entrepreneurship and serving his community at a later time. Through hardship, God gave Keith the vision to create an organization that would address the two most important basic needs before getting out of prison: Housing & Work.
He learned that hard work leads to empowerment, no matter your skillset, and free enterprise opens the door to unlimited opportunities. Hoping to enhance his business knowledge after being clean since December 4, 1992, Keith attended college in Lexington, but his plans were suddenly interrupted by a business opportunity that brought him to Nashville in 1995. After working in business management for several years, Keith decided it was time to take a leap of faith into entrepreneurship, starting his first company in 2005 called University Clothing in Lebanon, TN. He sold the company in 2008 and decided to start a nonprofit organization called Transitional Housing & Work Programs of Davidson County INC (www.thwp.org) whose mission is to help formerly incarcerated individuals attain housing and employment. As a nonprofit, THWP spawned a fundraising arm in 2012 called Venue109 (www.venue109.com); this brilliant idea rounded out the program by providing jobs and revenue for the nonprofit. As the organization began to scale in size and capacity, Keith quickly realized a broader approach was needed for addiction assistance and wrap around treatment services. In 2020, COVID-19 presented a challenge, yet opportunity that led to the expansion of those services, and Legacy Treatment Center was the pivot and shift that proved the timing of a global pandemic was a blessing in disguise, spawning Legacy Treatment Center (www.legacytreatmentcenterllc.org). Keith and his wife have been married for 22 years, and they are the parents of three young men. The recent climate of injustices being inflicted on young black males hit home for Keith, and the need for increased entrepreneurship and serving in the community became evident. Knowing that raising sons in this type of environment was going to be extremely challenging, Legacy Treatment became a lifeline for Keith because it had something he desperately needed to see—real solutions and real support. Keith's role as a father is to teach his sons how to see themselves through an intricately different lens by having them work within the organization to see the outcomes of what can happen by making bad choices and hanging out with the wrong crowd. Keeping his vision alive, the Legacy of these 3 organizations is setting Keith and his family up for the Legacy that God has paved and is a gateway for Keith to use his business experience and street savvy to serve in the community while carving a path for his three sons to follow.
