Par, Cornwall 2715 sq.m Seaweed Factory
If 9% of the world’s oceans is covered by seaweed farms, it would equal all of the greenhouse gases produced in one year. (More then 50 gigatons). Seaweed is photosynthetic and it grows fast (up to a meter per day). The project aims to connect the concept of seaweed with man made machinery. Nature inspired regenerative mechanism is the main focus of the design, where Nori process is manifested by the design form itself. The machinery will be connected to each other in a flowing way. Combining the concept of the machinery being the skin of the design together with the concept of the kelp, I came up with a shape that resembles the structure of a kelp; the area where the cultivation of the seed takes place, would resemble the New Growing Blade and the area of the processing of the seaweed resembles the Holdfast. The design’s shape stimulates a circular movement as the cycle of life, it begins in the seed and then returns to its origin.

Regenerative architecture is considered to be the practice of engaging the natural world as the medium or the generator of architecture. Hence, shapes are inspired by natural forms. Therefore a different approach needs to be studied to design the factory. My interest lays in trimming the actual machinery in a more innovative way that would be more engaging for the visitors. Involving massive scale machniery with exxagerated process stages and creative forms, inspired by Heath Robinson.

My aim is to create new alterations of the original machinery, and create new curvatures, include wheels, different massive scale shapes and immitate kitchen utilities, exxagerating the process for aesthetic purposes. The expression of the machines is the skin of the building design. By studying and examining the kelp shape, the shape of the structure resembeled the kelp’s form. The concept of the form responds and utilizes the living and the natural systems of the site.

Dhermi, Albania 824 sq.m Rental Villas
The project is located at one of the most desired destinations in the whole of Albanian Riviera, Dhermi. The aim of the project is to provide a high quality of living in contemporary architecture, focused on a modern space that offers all the facilities for a family on vacation. The twin villas can accomodate up to 4 people, with a master bedroom designed in the loft area, a built in library in the stairs and a small minimal kitchen.

The challenge to design a villa with a limited space of 5x6m, calls the need to provide efficient furniture and smart planning choices. Integrating a loft to accomodate the master bedroom in order to allow for more privacy between the two bedrooms, was an inevitable solution. Accent wood furniture is used in the kitchen and the dining area to emulate the minimalistic and modern interior design. Besides the furniture in the kitchen, a textured accent wall sawn white oak driftwood, resembling Scandinavian interior designs. The clean lines and grooving in the texture help evoke a contemporary vibe. The next challenge was storage in the villa, which was solved by integrating the built in closet under the stairs. The bathroom is designed with a walk-in shower to elevate the design.

“Demokracia” Primary School and Kindergarten is an existing facility located in Valias which will be subject to reconstruction. he kindergarden is a two-storey building that we face at the entrance of the property. The kindergarden consists of a simple cuboid volume, with windows that alternate from floor to floor imitating a chessboard in their manner of distribution. The facade of the main building has a simple architecture with windows that extend to the floor-ceiling height equidistant from each other, with concrete shading that extends up to 50 cm outside the perimeter of the facade.

The project consits of creating a space for a coffe shop in a new building that would attract the individuals living in the area and even create a spot of attraction for everyone living in the city. The design of the caffe is modern and integrated a lot of greenery to make the space more appealing.
The space of the caffe is small therefore there is limited space for seating so I integrated long furniture installment that would be used for a big group or used seperately when desired. I also coorporated a long table attached to the curtain wall where individuals can bring their laptop or devices and use it as a quiet working space with a view from the outside. there is a small storage space, aesthetic bathrooms and a long multi-fiunctional bar that has every facility possible that a coffee shop needs.

The project consits of a refurbishment and extension of an old office site transformed into a living structure for a family of 3. The client wanted to change almost everything in the apartment, including the size of the rooms, materials of the walls and floor as well as keep the cost as low as possible. The windows are the only element preserved in the apartment. There were multiple versions that I went through until the final desired outcome.
Pl an Vi e w O pt ion 1
This is the first version that I came up for the design of the apartment. In this version I had demolished 80% of his existential walls and added a private bathroom in the master bedroom. In the children’s room, I have placed two beds considering that in the future the couple might want to extend his family and the structure to still be functional and effective to their needs. The design of the apartment is simple and modern. The structure of the existing apartment had a very spacious balcony therefore, I made use of the space and created an outdoor environment where they can invite guests over and enjoy a barbecue.
Pl an Vi e w O pt ion 2
In the final result of the design, the client chose to minimise the cost of the refurbishment by choosing not to demolish the existential walls and by using the exact measurements of the existing rooms, therefore the initial plan had to be redone to accomodate the clients needs. These are the final rendered results that are being followed by the construction team working on the project.

The project aims to incorporate the concept of a living space for dancers next to their dance studio. All the coorporate offices and a performance scene is also attached in the building installments designed as twin towers, separating the personal private spaces with the areas open to the puublic. The landscape design welcomes everyone to engage with the installments whether it is people who live in the town or individuals that came to watch a play. The incorporated wooden slat facade lifts the entire exterior of the buildings as well as offers a solution to privacy, climate control and shade from the sun. Elongated curtain walls regulate the interior temperature and reduce the overall energy cost as well as increase the natural light by being placed in strategic sides of the building.

Reading, UK Theatre practice space and Building Complex
Situated in the heart of Reading, The Central Club Reading is one of the few locations in town which is close to every facility, a great space to provide for commercial and development growth. Being bounded with a historical mural that has a special significance to the black community of the town, the site is without a doubt one of the most important locations in Reading, therefore any new changes in the structure of the existing building must be carefully thought and studied to align to the area and add new values for the community. The aim of my project is to manifest a new spirit to the area, in respect to the historical aspect, using new innovative materials, and construction methods. The concept of dwelling will be further investigated and studied based on the user groups’ needs and preferences. With Reading theater being the client, a space dedicated to the theater practice is required.

Two-storey white rendered masonry structure with elliptical tower and timber pitched roof at multiple angles, clad in stainless steel. Externally, the roof is enveloped in folded metal; the inspiration of the folds of a dutch hat worn by a girl in a Vermeer painting. The completed site includes earthwork mounds and a labyrinth designed by landscape designer Arabella Lennox-Boyd as well as signature artwork by sculptor Antony Gormley.
It has four principal, interlocking spaces, one on arrival, a second to the left with a kitchen, a third - an easy sitting area - and the fourth, a library on two levels. The curves and folds of the interior timber structure envelop visitors, with spaces organized around the central social area of the kitchen table. The use of plentiful natural timber, for the roof structures, internally exposed, here provides an elegant construction, echoing the communal areas below.

Reading, UK Boat Center
This project is one of my first works in my university, which I also completed online as it was during the covid online lectures. The aim of the project was to create a center where tourists and individuals that lived in the town could come and talk to professionals about renting boats as well as check out the small museum installation inside the building. The structure had coorporate offices, meeting rooms, a small cafe as well as the museum/gallery to inform visitors of the history of sailing in the river and how it all started. The structure is made of concrete and curtain walls, the stairs are one of the interesting ideals that I wanted to incorporate in the building to make the space feel bigger as well as to make use of the view from the river for the users of the building to feel more connected to the site. Since I was in my elementary stages of rendering, the 3D maquette model that I created clearly showed how the stategic location of the building was aligned with the location chosen for the site.
C oncept + Ma qu ette
Considering the location of the site, I found inspiration by buildings that incorporated curtain walls to appreciate the environemnt and nature surrounding the structures. I wanted a simple cuboid puzzle like facade that played around with concrete and glass.
The 3D maquette illustrates how the building is located in a dock ithat branches from the town connnecting the river with the busy streets of the town. For the model I used cardboard of different colors and other materials found in my home as there was no access to shops due to covid. It was interesting and creative way for me to understand textures, and material durabilities.
