Extra Curricular Program-
The KLA Schools Extra-Curricular Program Our extra-curricular program takes place after the regular school hours. These classes are a great way for children to try new things such as sports and recreational activities, and to socialize with other children around from other classes in the school. By participating in these classes right at their own school, parents can conveniently pick their children up when the class is over, knowing their trusted teacher has taken them to the class. Dance From balancing on their toes to raising their arms, dance utilizes the entire body and all of its muscle groups. Physical fitness is just one of many benefits. Dance helps children develop emotionally, socially and cognitively. The dedication, discipline and focus children must learn and practice are important life skills that will transfer over to school, work and other aspects of their lives. Ballet

Dance
Students will learn the fundamentals of beginner level ballet, while developing balance, flexibility, and confidence. They will learn how to stretch, routines and positions, as well as responsibility and discipline. The goal is to make students become familiar with proper posture and arm placements, while learning basic body positions and ballet vocabulary/terminology.
Flamenco is a beautiful “Dance Form” that blends movements and expressions from a variety of ancient cultures. Our Flamenco Class teaches the fundamentals of this wonderful art while developing the sense of rhythm, stimulating concentration and strengthening motor skills. This class also promotes aerobic exercise, enhances proper body functioning, as well as develops imagination and creativity. Classes will set up according to grade level and skill sets.
In this class students express themselves through their own personal style and movement. They learn stretches, technique across the floor and dance routines weekly. The instructor encourages students to develop their confidence by stepping out of their comfort zone. Students will also learn simple motion execution, proper body positioning/positions, different dance style techniques and overall coordination.
Music Music participation provides a unique opportunity for literacy preparation. Whether the children are singing, playing, or listening, teachers direct them to hear in new ways, which exercises their aural discrimination. Playing instruments and adding movement to the lessons teaches children about sequential learning, which is essential in reading comprehension. Music Storytelling

Music itself is like a story, it has the power to bring children together. Through music, children can express their thoughts and feelings. By observing, listening, and reacting with movements we stay connected through sound and story.
A class where from a safe creation space; children approach the world of acting, music and the arts in general. Every child participates in the selection of music, and learns about costume and production strategies.
Based on each child’s unique abilities, individual learning style and music goals, the instructor creates a personal program for each student. Every class contains elements of music theory, piano technique, ear-training, sight-reading, music history, piano solo and piano ensemble performance. Piano students will learn to play the pieces they love, from popular to classics or they can even create they own. Each student will perform two recitals during the school year.
Dancing, singing, laughing and playing with a child is so much fun. It's easy to forget how much learning is taking place! In this class children will develop music skills by being exposed to different instruments and songs. Music 4 Fun also nurtures a child’s creativity, self-expression, and confidence while supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Since these benefits build over time, children enjoy the fullest growth in each of these areas.

Art When children are exposed to any artistic activity the brain is stimulated from sounds, movements, colors and sizes; neural connections increase and the brain is exercised and strengthened. Both sides of the brain are stimulated during art processes. Engaging in art experiences increases the capacity of memory, attention and concentration. Reading skills are developed and children tend to perform better in math and science when they have been exposed to the arts. Children are also introduced to new vocabulary words and concepts. Creating art generates memories and images, which enriches the intellect. Art Class This class for ages 4 and up is a fun 45 min long experience where children will learn about different artists and experiment by using different mediums and tools to create. Children will participate in different activities every week using high quality supplies and a variety of materials such as paint, clay, pastels, wood, collage, mixed media, etc
Yoga Through Yoga children improve their focus, self-control, emotional resilience and adaptability, while building self-conďŹ dence, physical strength and concentration.

Kids Yoga
This program will introduce the most basic yoga postures to children in a fun and playful way through storytelling, mindful movement and music. They incorporate easily understood explanations of breathing techniques, yoga poses and focus as well as concentration exercises all while maintaining a fun and playful environment.
These classes are extremely imaginative and creatively introduce all age-appropriate poses and activities. Children will have the opportunity to learn challenging and creative yoga poses, while maintaining a playful environment. Through the practice of mindfulness techniques, they will improve their focus, self-control, emotional resilience and adaptability, as well as build self-conďŹ dence, physical strength and concentration.
Sports Sports not only offer physical benefits to children, they also help them develop self-esteem, leadership and communication skills, and teach them how to work in a group.

Children will discover the basic rules of soccer and the ins and outs of the game. As a child’s motor skills become more complex, they will begin to incorporate new forms of movement and strategies to excel at the sport.Mastering basic motor skills contributes to children’s physical, cognitive and social development.
This program will benefit children from a physical component such as strengthening and toning muscle mass, aerobic and anaerobic capacity, motor coordination, as well as balance of body sides (right and left side). It also supports the development of the emotional and social component such as respect for others, the behavior inside and outside the dojo, discipline, etiquette and the reinforcement of security and self-esteem. Each class consists of a warm-up, a Kihon (basic techniques), Katas (imaginary fight performed individually) and Kumite (combat that is worked in pairs and in a controlled way).

Mandarin Chinese
Cooking Program
Chess grows dendrites in the brain, raises IQ, increases problem-solving skills and creativity, and improves spatial skills, memory and concentration. While playing chess, both sides of the brain are being exercised. Chess teaches planning and foresight.
The Chinese Learning Center of Miami provides a fun and effective way for students to learn Mandarin Chinese through music, art and a variety of teaching methods as each student has their own learning style. In addition to learning the language, children will also learn about the Chinese culture.
Cooking helps children build confidence, motor skills, and even math skills. Through cooking, your child will learn valuable skills in the kitchen while getting a sense of independence and confidence. This class offers children an educational and engaging outlet for creativity in the multi-sensory environment of the kitchen.
