Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting to be Held in Liberty You’re invited to an afternoon of “Old Time” Christmas nostalgia in Historic Downtown Liberty on Saturday, December 6th. It will be an afternoon of fun and surprises for the young and the young at heart. The annual Liberty Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will kick off the festivities. The Parade will be held from 2:30pm-3:30 pm. Christmas floats, trailers, high school bands, vintage cars, fire trucks, a variety of parade entries (and of course Santa) will be on display as they travel along the parade route. The parade will have a more direct and efficient route this year along Greensboro St. It will start at the old Fidelity Bank and end at Dollar General. No Candy will be thrown from floats or vehicles but will be carefully distributed by individuals who walk alongside of the parade entries. The Grand Marshal of this year’s parade will be Ms. Kaffy Kivett-Reynolds ; the director of the Reitzel Senior Center here in Liberty and also Marie Warren, Assist Director. Holiday festivities will continue after the parade in the downtown area. Please join us for our annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival between 4-6 pm. In the “Spirit of Christmas” Local businesses, Churches, Civic organizations and Individuals join together to spread “Christmas Cheer”. FREE items are shared to make this day special: popcorn, cookies, hotdogs, hot chocolate, coffee, water and more. From 4-6pm., kids can visit with Santa and have a FREE photo taken. A street stage will be set up; during this time, traditional and contemporary Christmas carols will be performed by a variety of local musicians. The Grand Finale of the evening will be at 5:30 pm when the parade’s Grand Marshal flips the switch to light up the Christmas tree in Downtown Liberty. Come join us in song around the tree up until 6:00pm. We look forward to seeing you in Liberty. Merry Christmas from the Liberty Chamber of Commerce!
